Hello Team , We use Commvault for our Laptop environment and have around 40K laptops . Every year there will be active Laptop/OS upgrades . Looking for solution which help to migrate the laptops with all the user settings . Please share thoughts about Migration assistant . Thanks.

Hello dear community,this is not a problem, but rather a kind of preparation. Our CommCell server is virtualised and runs under VMware. We are planning to upgrade our CommCell from version 11.24.94 to Commvault Platform Release 2023E (11.32). In case something goes wrong during the upgrade process, I was thinking of taking a snapshot of the VM running the CommCell before starting the update and then restoring this snapshot in an emergency to have the machine as it was before the update.Is this a viable option, or does the CommCell not cope so well when a snapshot is imported?Are there any other ways that you can recommend to restore the functionality?Thank you very much for your answers!Best regards,Pascal

Hello I would appreciate an explanation of how I delete the backup from the cloud in order to start over. I tried to delete job - under storage policy -but it deleted only the backups that were added and not the first large copy which is 8 Tera i can delete just only the small job that are added with each backup.I want to literally delete everything and let the backup run again after I remove large VM.thx  

Hi, we are looking for more information about the Outlook Addin.Is there a site, that list the current (and maybe previous) Versions?Also some patchnotes and/or compatibility information would be nice to read.Currently, the only reliable way to get the Version/Buildnumber is to download the software from https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/expert/29115_outlook_add_in_packages.html Un-Zip the Exe-File and take a look into the CvInstaller.ini to find more information and the build number. Btw. did you know, that the Exe-File on the MA-Portal is from 2019, the file from the docs.commvault.com is from 2022?

Currently running Commvault 11.24.  Have several large Nutanix AHV clusters.   Nightly incremental backups are very efficient, but the weekly synthetic full backups are painfully slow.    Since Indexing Version 2 is not supported for Nutanix AHV, the synthetic full backups run with a single stream.    As a result, we have our backups for each cluster broken up into several subclients, and stagger the synthetic full backups across the week.    Furthermore, the impact of the Indexing Version 1 synthetic full backups seems to extend to Aux Copy events between our sites.   I believe that the synthetic full Nutanix AHV backup data is Aux Copying on a single stream.   Not good! Now, looking to the future, on 11.30, we can see that every hypervisor will support Indexing Version 2….except for Nutanix AHV!     Do any Commvault folks know when Indexing Version 2 will be available for Nutanix AHV? Thanks in advance, and Happy New Year!

Do we have any option to perform Incremental restore.we have tested the Namespace and Application level restore( in and out of place restore). while performing the out of place restore for already existing namespace , if overwrite option is not enabled restoration fails and it succeeds if overwrite option is enabled. In backend this overwrite deletes all the existing resources from the namespaces and recreates again. we are not able to achieve the incremental restore which is not suitable for the TB’s of data size.

Hi everyone,how is Kubernetes backup licensed within Commvault (not Metallic)? I found nothing in the Licensing Program Guide. I know VSA is used, so I assume it’s a per Container license. Can anyone provide an example setup and its related license requirements. Thanks.

Hello, I’m running PostgreSQL v13.14 on RedHat 8.9 I want to restore a PostgreSQL Instance from FSBasedBackupSet.This will only work if I made a Full backup before I start the restore. HiWe presently run Commvault version 11.28.36 For some backup tasks/jobs we are using domain accounts. If we update the password to one of these account in Active Directory where do we update the password for the account in Commvault so the task/jobs continue to run?Kind Regards Dean

Hi All, we are actually troubleshooting an perforamnce problem.  There is an Sync Copy top Tape ( LTO 8 )  2 Mediaagents in a ms csv cluster. When we use combinded streams 1 and multiplexing 1 we only get max 400GB/H troughput the normal jobs have 100GB/h mixed data.  If we increase the multiplexing to 8 and combided to streams 1 the performence grows up over 1500GB/h .  so i have 2 Questions: Is there an limitaion in the stream troughput ? So can 1 Stream only use x GB/h Wich impact has the multiplexing on tape for the DR Restore process, Does it realy impact the performance so the tape getting in wind/rewind process ?

HelloWwe are using optimazed scan for a windows server. But It crates a small database and this dataabse does low space on disk.This DB has been crates on E:\System Volume Information\Commvault\Data Classification   I have changed scan method as Recursive Scan and I have added this additional settings. But ITs still having space on disk. can you help how to delete is please?

Hello everyone,I’m quite new to Commvault and only the “secondary admin” but the API guy in the team. We’re running Commvault 11.32.45 in a local VM and have several media agents across our datacenters (no cloud anywhere).I want to get all the devices which are backed up with any job right now. I don’t care if it’s a VM or a physical machine, a database server or a file server. All I need is the device name and maybe the backup job backing up the device.I want to use this information to request details per device from our central DCIM (Netbox) and create a simple list of devices + details.I managed to get clients and subclients via the api but it’s very confusing. There seem to be several apis and several documentations for them.What’s the currently recommended API in general? webconsole, commandcenter, WebServerCore, CVWebService.svc? I have created a disk library in our dev environment which is using it’s own separate volume. it will be used for ddb backups. If I want to increase the capacity do I have to add a new volume or can I just resize the underlying volume in linux ?

I'm currently installing Simpana 9 version on my Solaris client and using it.I reinstalled it a while ago due to a problem, and I haven't been able to back it up since then.Back-up content browsing is good, and scanning is good.But it's only not backing up. It's an unknown error.

Hello Commvault Community, Commvault enviroment version: SP34I would like to ask about the possibility of changing the Client Identifier (old Client Name) for the CommServe module.We have an environment that was migrated from the old one - Hardware Refresh, but the Client Name of the CommServe module that we wanted to change remained there. We used the key:bAllowModifyClientNamehttps://documentation.commvault.com/additionalsetting/details?name=%22bAllowModifyClientName%22&id=12282 Unfortunately, this key doesn’t allow you to replace the Client Identifier for CommServe. I know this isn;t highly recommended, but is there any chance of changing this - through Commvault technical support? I'm asking because after Hardware Ref

i have file server where i am taking full vsa backup (included all drives)and for the same server am taking file system agent backup only for some drives ,does it consume double space from my storage ? will the deduplication work well with two type of backup 

we previously use cqcclassic.commvault.com/Dedupe/Design  tool. Now it cannot find it. if anyone have an idea? 

There is a new physical tape library configured in this environment (HPE MSL G3 2024) with 2 tape HPE Ultrium 8-SCSI FC drives. The tape library was added in Commvault and few auxiliary copy jobs performed:1. With the hardware compression disabled in Commvault storage policy copy data path configuration. The size of data on the first tapes was 10 TB.2. With the hardware compression enabledin Commvault storage policy copy data path configuration. The size of data on each tapes was 20-21 TB.The backup data type is VMware backups.Our question is why Commvault is not placing more than 30 TB on each tape, considering they are LTO8 and hardware compression is enabled? This customer has another Commvault environment  , with similar backup devices and same settings, they are able to accommodate between 30 -40 TB.

Hi All, We have many clients that are backing up even in powered off state. As per my knowledge, snapshot should be placed in the datastore and creation of snapshot consider the ESXi host rather than VM (please correct me if I'm wrong).To avoid such scenarios, I found that we have prepared and post process scripts which can be made outside of commvault.Can someone help me on below questionsWhere I can find these scripts?How these scripts works?Do I need to place these scripts in every VSA? Thanks in advance!!
