Dear Team,I have enrolled for the Commvault Certified Professional Exam and successfully completed the first level of e-learning along with the course materials. However, I am unable to proceed further—either to resume my training or to schedule the exam and make the payment.It seems I might not be navigating to the correct section. I’m busy with a new installation and getting an issue where the installer gets stuck on the below screenshot. The error in the install log is also listed.I’ve checked the status of the VSS writers and they’re all healthy. The Windows Event log isn’t showing up any errors warnings either.I suspect this might be a permission issue, but I am a local administrator on the server 

Hey all,We had two media agents on site A and site B. Site A’s media agent died and was replaced by the media agent from site B. Site B was consolidated. I have a Storage Policy GDP_xx that points to the dead media agent.I tried to replace the  MediaAgent in the Data Paths of the Properties windows, on the primary copy of the policy (the only copy, there is no other copy) We have a Dedup DB reconstruction job for this policy GDP_xx.How to stop this auto job from running? How can I disable the Storage policy?

We’re currently in the process of doing a major upgrade of our Commvault setup - both software version and hardware, and are looking at ways to improve things. None of us are seasoned Commvault admins - I did a course before starting a couple of years ago, only to find that much was irrelevant as the course focused on the webGUI and Plans, while the existing setup turned out to be “old style”. I’ve also had a lot of other stuff on my plate, so there has been little time to do much self study...So we’re taking this opportunity to build the setup from scratch. One of the areas we want to improve is protection against malicious or accidental deletion. The old setup does create aux copies to an offsite disk library, but as both primary and secondary libraries are permanently mounted via iSCSI it would be trivial to obliterate everything… an “interesting” fact here is that the previous incarnation of the setup used NetApp for storage, and SnapMirror to create offsite replicas - so in some w

Hello, Commvault archiving doesn't stub files with error Action:[StubbingSkipped], Reason: [File has Extended Attributes]. Files have Extended Attribute $KERNEL.PURGE.CSOOA0000 set by Crowdstrike.Is it possible to force Commvault to stub such files? Maybe using some exclusions? 

Since a few months we have the problem that the archiving function does not work anymore. Files that were previously stubbed without any problems are suddenly no longer stubbed. Also files that had a recall are not stubbed again. In the logs it says "Reason: [Skipping as file has recall on data access or open attribute ON]". Files are for example jpg and bak. We are already in contact with the support but they don't get any further.

Hello. While learning commvault, I learned about the commvault solution design tool. Now I want to try it out, but I can't find a link to this tool. please tell me how to find it?

Hi,I have built a three node HSX Cluster.I am now going to isolate this cluster where nothing is allowed to talk to it. I will be using CV Network Topologies & Gateways to perform my backups.My question is, as all the nodes are isolated they wont be able to reach a NTP server. Will this setup eventually cause me an issue  ? Thanks 

Hi everyone,I asked Arlie about encryption handling when doing auxiliary copy (tape-out) from an encrypted HPE StoreOnce Catalyst Store https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=sd00003761en_us&page=GUID-6D031310-DD0A-46AC-96E5-3B3F843EEA63.html.According to Arlie, if the tape storage policy copy is set to "Preserve encryption mode as in source" (the default), the encrypted backup data from StoreOnce should remain encrypted when written to tape—no decryption/re-encryption needed.However, I'm opening this thread for real-world confirmation from folks running this in production. Does the encryption truly persist end-to-end from StoreOnce to tape in a real scenario? For the HPE MSL G3 tape library (which supports hardware encryption via encryption stick), is the StoreOnce software encryption sufficient on its own, or are there best practices requiring the hardware encryption stick to be enabled?Looking for experiences and best practices on whether the StoreOnce encryption

Hey community,We just upgraded Commvault from 11.36 to 11.40 and immediately hit OCI Oracle database backup issues. Jobs failing that worked perfectly before, now troubleshooting agent configs and Oracle parameters settings (Case 260207-250). With this occasion, let's get real about rollback scenarios. Official line is no direct rollback exists after a platform upgrade completes. But is it legit to use a pre-upgrade CommServe DR backup to restore the CommServe to 11.36, then manually rollback the MediaAgents and clients to match?Does this actually work in practice? Has anyone pulled this off successfully?Please for your feedback,Nikos

Background. 11.40We have a team that has permissions to run backups/restores and their management console is the command center.Recently we had a request for a Bare Metal restore for a Laptop. So my recommendation was to use 1-Touch but upon looking for the option on the laptop section, I noticed the option is not there. When I do the same thing within the File Servers entity, I can see 1-touch recovery. Chatting with Arlie, and I was told that, BareMetal restores for Laptops are not available within Command Center.So I thought I would ask the community if Arlie is correct or If I`m missing something here. If 1-Touch is truly not supported in Command Center for Laptops, would anyone know why? Just think its strange considering it leverages the same agent (File System) and its supported under File Server but not in Laptop? Will this be added in new FRs?I asked the same question here about 3 years ago, post last post on this thread but got no answer. Would appreciate some feedback on how

Hello Team, Please advise the best practice for the implementation of on-premises HPE Object storage with Commvault.There are two different sites, one site will use HPE Object storage for backup and another site will use HPE File System for backup targets (CIFS shares mount paths).Our requirement that backing of VM’s, FS & DB’s, the backup data of around 500TB.Is it single (or) multiple S3 objects will create from Object HPE storage. There are two physical media agents to use these object devices access. Shall we create single Disk library and will add mount paths S3 objects. Any best practices to configure additionally to get backup performances. The backup data will copy from Object to File System storage using Commvault Aux copies. Is it will work for these copy jobs.Thanks in advance.

 Hello Team,we have some users wtih the following rights. They could browse and restore MSSQL,MySQL and PostgreSQL DB’s. We have configured Couchbase today for those users.They can see that clsuters  but they can not browse the contents. Which right should I give them ? 

We have newly installed RHEL 10 servers for MediaAgents and we want to use them as VMWare Access Nodes. We have noticed that there is no documented support for VMware AccessNodes on RHEL 10 in docs. Does anyone know if there are any issues configuring these MA’s as Access Nodes for VMware at this point? /Patrik

We are using your api to automate our usage of commvault.Commvault version 11.40, cvpysdk 11.40A few days ago, we submitted a job to restore a VMWare virtual server, calling /v2/vsa/vm/{vm_uuid}/recover endpoint with the following arguments:{            'powerOnVmAfterRestore': True,            'passUnconditionalOverride': True,            'inPlaceRestore': True,            'newName': {vm_name}        } The job is created, and then ultimately failed due to media agent misbehaving. Our internal resource is investigating that front, while I deal with the following issue.In Command Center → vm detail → jobs section, we see that the job in question has the status of “Failed”: Yet if we go into the job detail page by clicking on the job id, the status becomes “Completed”And using cvpysdk to get the job, the returned object shows status being complete as well:Why is there a discrepancy? I need a user which has the permission to enable/disable scheduler and kill/suspend jobs in the job controller. My problem is that I can’t select only the commserve as Association in the user group. The user shouldn’t be able to see more than the commserve object.I can only select every entity, see in the following screenshot: I added the following permissions:Does anyone has a solution for thsi issue?

Hi Commvault Community,I’m searching for a precise method to export all job IDs that “live” in every Disk / Cloud Library in our Commcell environment.From a previous case, Commvault support mentioned that the recommended way is by querying the Deduplication Policy DDB (from the CommCell Console, under Storage Resources > Deduplication Engines, then view Jobs).Question:Is there a command line tool (like qoperation, qlist, or REST API) that can export all job IDs from a DDB (including Files, Databases & VMs Deduplication Stores)?   instead of manually exporting jobs manually from the GUI?The goal is somehow to automate these reports for audits, analytics, or targeted operations (such as clean-up, reporting etc). Please for your feedback.Nikos

Hello,We are testing Two-Factor Authentication on Commvault Platform Release 11.36.83.Configuration:- Two-Factor Authentication enabled at CommCell level- Microsoft Authenticator configured and tested successfully for local admin user- Email based OTP working correctly- Windows Integrated Authentication enabled for domain users Test scenario:1. Email OTP enabled → Login via CommCell Console works (password + TOTP appended)2. Email OTP disabled (enabled "Do not send email with PIN for two-factor authentication")3. Attempt login via CommCell Console using:   password + current TOTP code (Microsoft Authenticator)Result:Login fails with "Invalid username/password"Questions:Is Microsoft Authenticator (TOTP) supported as the only second factor for CommCell Console login, without email based OTP enabled Is email based OTP required for CommCell Console login? Is this expected product behavior or a configuration issue?Thank you. 

Hello Commvault Community,I am currently working with Commvault version 11.42 and testing backup and recovery features for OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt).I have seen information stating that file-level restore for OpenShift Virtualization is not supported, but I have not been able to find this limitation officially documented.Could you please confirm whether file-level restore for VMs running on OpenShift Virtualization is indeed not supported in Commvault 11.42?If this is correct, can you share an official Commvault documentation link where this limitation is mentioned?Having this clarification and documentation would help us properly communicate the capabilities to our teams and customers.

I am receiving the following error in the backup of a Hyper-V VMError code: [91:148]Description: There are too many existing backup snapshots on virtual machine [ServerName]. Backup snapshots are being cleaned up, but manual intervention may be required to ensure that all snapshots are removed. This may indicate that the storage is unable to keep up with the I/O activity of the virtual machine during a backup.Source: cs0003, Process: JobManagerWhen I look in Hyper-V Manager, I see no checkpoints for this server, so I’m unsure how to resolve this.  I assume it’s possible it may resolve itself over time, but this has come up the last 2 backup cycles. 

Hi Guys,just want to know, whether it is a bug or a feature, that the Workflow Activity ExecuteCommand changes the value of the input parameter command ?I tried to create a Workflow that executes commands on a linux client.If the command ends on .exe (funny), the program suffix is automatically removed by the WorkFlow,As a result, the executable is not found.As a workaround, I created a symbolic link pointing to the .exe file having the same name, but without the suffix. The Workflow does, what is expected, but I wonder why the program is altered at all.this happens in my environment running on V11.40rgdsKlaus

We have: Deleted those users from Exchange Online Released their licenses from Metallic Reassigned the licenses to new users We would like to confirm how long the backup data of the deleted (former) users will be retained in Metallic after license release.Kindly confirm the retention period applicable in this scenario.
