Hi guys,We are currently on the proccess of configuring WORM S3 Object Locking + Commvault 11.36 + Deduplication.The requirements is to enable WORM on the following JOBS:4 weekly Fulls24 monthy Fulls5 Yearly FullsThe thing is that we are not able (we dont know if we are doing something wrong) on applying Extended Retentions on Deduplicated S3 Object Lock Storage pools. (If we disable deduplication is posible to configure Extended Retentions).That means we have to have 3 different buckets 1 for each retention.If we sum the periodically sealing of DDB (yearly or less..) that means HUGE space needed with this configuration. Do you know if it’s possible to apply extended retention on deduplicated S3 object Lock configured Storage Pools?Thanks!!

Hello together,I was moving one of our customers from NAKIVO Backup (https://www.nakivo.com/) to Commvault Backup. It worked … but. On NAKIVO the customer used immutable snapshots. Commvault Intellisnap seems to use writeable snapshots and I did not find a way to change this behaviour. Did I miss something or is this not supported? Here you see the snapshots on the Alletra … there is a lock symbol for the immutable snapshots and this is missig when Commvault is starting the Intellisnap backups. Regards.Michael

Setup: I have primary and secondary storage locations. Data gets copied from primary to secondary with Aux copies.  I have 3 Aux copies that are not tied to global deduplication DDB’s and are instead “using their own DDB” for the Aux copy to the secondary). I’m Looking to add more mount points to my media agents (to add more storage capacity) and I ran across this (copilot answer to “To determine whether a library is part of a Network Storage Pool in Commvault”):A Network Storage Pool is a logical construct that combines: A Disk Library. One or more MediaAgents. A Global Deduplication Policy. When configured, it enables shared access to mount paths across MediaAgents using DataServer-IP transportMy question is: If these Storage policies Aux copy are not tied to a global DDB, then its not part of a Storage pool

I see that the api.commvault.com has not been updated with information about SP40.Latest version to be selected is SP38Does this mean that api-documentation for 11.38 is the one to use for 11.40, or has it just not been published yet?Planning an upgrade to 11.40 and wants to make sure if there is any changes to the API’s I’m currently using, to ensure a smooth transition.

Hi Team, After upgrading from 11.36.32 to 55 and then 68, MSSQL Job Type is now empty in Job Controller. Will it no longer appear? It was actually useful in some cases. Is there any logical reason to hide this ?  

Hi. I’ve created a API script to backup a specific VM. I want to create an alert to send a email after the jobs completes. I used, Add Alert->Job management(data protection), selected everything for Agent type. also Want to just send the alert when the API user is the one starting the job (used token for that).I’ve also selected “Send individual notification for each backed up VM”Anyway, it’s not working. 

I need your advice.We have a plan to close a Data Center. All the backup infrastructure will be decommissioned but We have around 10K tapes written thru the years and we need to guarantee data can be recovered from tape if needed.What are the options we have?Is better to import the whole Tape library into an another CommCell server?Is better to import only the needed tape?If all backup infrastructure is decommissioned and we receive a restore request how we can identify the needed tape Id to restore the data from.Does Commvault provides this recovery service?Please help me to know what the best option is 

Hello team,I am trying to browse and restore the data from snapshot backup and from E drive of the client.I am getting an error “Failed to process mounted VM’s dynamic disk”, i can browse and view the items from other drives. Upon checking we found E drive is configured as Dynamic. Kindly confirm, is Dynamic disk configurations are not supported snapshot backup/restore?Is there any other ways to restore the data in such scenarios.  

Hello All,My company has two lines of business and a single CommCell for both. Each line of business has its own virtualization environment with VMware and NAS data, all based on NetApp, with different storage policies for each line and kind. There is only one Media Agent and one DAS disk library on that Media Agent used for all policies, plus a third AirGap library. We use IntelliSnap for both VMware and CIFS. After the NetApp snapshot (for both NAS and VMs), we perform a backup copy for VM and NDMP for CIFS, sending all data to the same DAS disk library with a single mount path, plus Aux copy to AirGap.Now, we want to split that CommCell to separate the lines of business, and we have a new disk library and a new Media Agent ready for the line of business that will be moved to the new CommCell.I’ve reviewed the documentation on CommCell Splitting and CommCell Migration, and I believe Splitting would be the right approach. I wanted to verify what happens to additional copies’ backups when a Plan is deleted? I would assume that it would be similar to a Storage Policy in that when a Storage Policy is deleted, all backup jobs under all the copies are aged and the Storage Policy and all copies are deleted.I have doubt due to a customer’s environment where a Plan no longer exists (I would assume it was deleted) but the corresponding Storage Policy still exists in the Java Console, albeit with Primary Copy being one of the original Secondary Copies to the cloud, and the original Primary Copy to disk deleted. All the jobs within the remaining copies have aged at this point; the Storage Policy itself still exists, but the Plan is gone. If all copies are deleted when the Plan is deleted, I’m unsure how this is possible.They’re trying to retire a MediaAgent from their environment and have created a new Plan to use with the new MediaAgent as they have a 1:1 relationship with their business unit’s d

Hi,We have a deduplication Database that it doesn’t seem to deduplicate at all and is ocupying more than we guess it should be.that DDB only backups VMs ans the deduplication ratings showed in the DDB are horrible and it caused that the library is full.   Best regards.

Background: We have 2 media agents at a secondary site that each have a single “data” mount path to storage that we just hit 256 TB on (OS refuses to expand them further, its using 64kb blocks).  The media agents have their storage/mount path mapped to that dedicated storage volume (like X:\) and then they also map (in commvault) to the other media agent.  So each media agent can read/write to either X:\ on either media agent.Note: All the volumes in commvault are pointing to the same dedicated storage array (that only commvault uses)Questions: Since we cannot expand the existing mount path storage beyond 256 TB for either mount, a few options are being explored:Make a new volume and format it to 128 kb blocks, so it can grow to 512 TB is needed. Then do a “move mount path” of the 256 TB bound volume to the 512TB bound one. result: we have a single mount point per media agent, and it just is really big. using 128 kb blocks seems like a “prob

A storage pool was sealed about a month ago. All jobs for that DDB appear to be gone, and the old folders are no longer seen under the physical paths for each partition, yet the backing storage has yet to be freed up to pre-sealed levels. Meaning - when do those old chunks get pruned from the libraries?Space reclamation fails because the DDB paths aren’t around anymore obviously. There appears to be over 150TB locked up in the S3 library used by the DDB.thanks

I have exceeded my capacity license. I ran a license summary report and identified a number of sub clients which i could disable. After disabling backup activity at the subclient level, and after running data aging these subclients were still featuring on the license capacity report. Why are licenses not being released. In several cases i v also released license for client , and the license did not release.

Hi,I`m reviewing some of the statistics within the Health Report and one of them is the Scale Statistics which in my case are showing the following; It recommends to run a “DBMaint -recommended” but my questions are;1- Considering I will be upgrading to 11.36 soon. Do I still run the DBmaintenance as recommend separate prior the upgrade or simple cheking the box for DB Maintenance during the upgrade covers it all?2- 

Hello all Our Business is currently in the process of migrating our existing services hosted in a onprem data centre into the cloud hosted by a third party. As part of this migration we have a number of existing VMs which host both Oracle and SQL databases which will be migrated as is including the current IP.Our CommVault backup solution has now been configured with new media agents and associated Cloud Library & GlobalDDB. We have also started to build out plans based on the existing plans with the exception these are now using the new libraries / media agents etc.What is the best method to update the existing clients to point them at the new plans / media agents just as I’ve seen on the client properties under “Network” and “Network Summary” there are details in a file called “FwConfigLocal.txt”. This has details pointing to the old Media Agents, are we meant to manually edit this on each client after the migration to point at the new

Hi Team, We have our AWS environment with 90% of Windows base servers and 10% Linux based servers.We have recommended our customer to use Linux base Media Agents and Linux base Access nodesMy question is will Linux base access node be able to perform file level recovery for snapshot base backup. Performing mount activity for Windows snapshot backup on Linux Access Node will work or not. Also please recommend Commvault best practices for the same.

Hi Experts,In one of my customer, Azure VM streaming backups along with iDA for several workloads being used. I was referring the possibilities to implement Azure VM intellisnap backup and going through some documentation. In context of feasibility study, I am unable to find limitations for performance, granular restores from Snap and Backup Copy both covering for Azure VM snapshot backup and iDA’s on AZURE VM’s like SAP, Oracle, PGsql, MYSQL, MS-SQL. Need community help pointing me to the relevant stuff.Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Hi Guys,,,I am facing issues in multiple auxilliary copies. I am getting below error in the Aux copies every now and then.  Error Code: [19:599]Description: Loss of control process CVJobReplicator.exe. Possible causes: 1. The control process has unexpectedly died. Check crash dump or core file. 2. The communication to the control process machine abc.com might have gone down due to network errors. 3. If the machine abc.com is a cluster, it may have failed over. 4. The machine abc.com may have rebooted. 5. Antivirus/Malware software may be blocking the process. We are using Storeonce to replicate the primary snaps to the remote copy.Kindly help here. Regards,pank1988  

Hello Team,Can we enable archive_mode=always for our current environment (which is on 11.32.96) to ensure PITR between log backups and failover? Also, below KB article confirms that starting SP34 onwards the backed up logs will be cleaned up from all the participating clients. Does that mean it is still missing in SP32? Can it be backported? Restore to a time between log only backup and failover may not restore the records inserted after log backupThank you for your time. Kamal
