What is the actual difference between micro pruning and macro pruning in reference to DDB and data aging ? In which scenario micro vs macro pruning is enabled and where i can check it in console or command center? 

Hi, we have to move our current commvault (live sync) env to another domain and new ipaddresses.We have 2 locations with each 3 backup servers and each 1 commcell console.What is the best way to do this?remove all the backup and comcell servers from AD, change ipaddresse and add them to the new domain? How about the license, this is connected to the ipaddresse? Do I have to change some settings in the comcell console like name management? any other things to think about……..

If you log in to Commcell after accessing your local account, it will connect well. However, if you log in to Commcell after accessing your AD account, the line is stuck in the pop-up window.

Hello! I am trying to figure out how to setup backup copy job to run right after SNAP backups job finishes.Does anyone has a clue? Default setting were to run every 4 hours but i have changed it to run once per 24h. Now it obviously CANT be changed back and its scheduled to run at specific time 08am.We use CommandCenter and can use also CommCell Console.

Dear Community,Perhaps anyone can answer me the following question. My customer use storage accelerator (SA)  for backups and Aux copies to cloud. Now he asked:How can I easy see that SA was used or not?We are at 11.36.55. First, I asked Arlie but answer seems only partly correct. I am still at the beginning to check all points Arlie told me. Java GUI is not useful in this case. It shows allegedly only results if SA is used. To make a clear statement, I always must check the log file.In the command center, I must differentiate between backup jobs and Aux copy jobs.Backup jobs indeed have a line: storage accelerator yes/no which is the expected behavior.According to Arlie, there should also be a line for Aux copy jobs that clearly indicates the use of SA.I am not able to find. Can you help?My customer needs a clear indication on user level that shows if an aux copy uses the SA or not.We

Hi,we use Simpana 11.28.44.Is it possible to backup a agent over SAN because we have an internal firewall and i think the backup over LAN is slower than over SAN. - Map in my virtual machine a SAN lun.- Backup the data to that SAN lun- MediaAgent have also map that lun and backup the data from that lun.Is that possible?RegardsDennis

Hi Community,I’m experiencing a strange behavior from my CommServe.When running Check Readiness on some clients, the first attempt (and sometimes the second) shows the status as Disconnected. However, after trying 3 or more times, it finally changes to Ready. Network connectivity is stable with no significant latency. The issue occurs with multiple clients, not just one. Once the client is marked as Ready, backups run without issues. Has anyone encountered this behavior before?I appreciate any guidance or similar experiences.

Good morning, I have a library with two drives, and I need the copy to use only one drive, leaving another drive free for another copy. As of today, when a copy is launched, it uses all available drives, and the second copy is put on hold. I saw that the copy is configured with 100 streams. Should I lower that to 1? Could you guide me so that each copy launched to tape uses only one available drive.

Can’t download 11.36.65 using console or command center. Powershell does reach downloadcenter.commvault.com on 443 from the Commcell. T1 support says the site is down, but no outage is reported on CV anywhere that I see. Can anyone confirm the outage? If so, when will it be back up?

Hello community,we are using IntelliSnap to achieve smooth and fast backups for our Oracle clients.The integration is configured as follows: RMAN connection string points to the RMAN catalog Backup interface is set to RMAN Data restore from Commvault works perfectly “The issue”: We are unable to retrieve a list of backups from the RMAN catalog for backups performed using Commvault/IntelliSnap. This limits our DBAs, as they cannot query backup information directly without accessing the Commvault console. If we perform a regular backup copy (not a snapshot) of the database and archive logs, the RMAN catalog updates correctly and lists the backups. Hi all, I wonder if anyone has encountered this issue.   I am getting NDMP Netapp Intellisnap backup failure.The problem is the backup keeps using the wrong Media Agent which is not even defined in the Array management definition of Remote MA for the Netapp arrap in question. In fact the remote MA definition is blank.   I tried to manually define the remote MA using the correct MA but it keeps using the wrong MA. Hi, We’ve upgrade from v 11.36.49 to 11.36.68.The upgrade appeared to complete successfully on the Commserve, however I noticed the MongoDB service was failing to start and kept retrying.From the logs I can see the error “featurecompatibilityversion 4.2 expected 6.0 or 6.3 or 7.0”. On further investigation I can see the mongod.exe has been upgraded to v7 however the featurecompatibility has been left as 4.2.  Replacing the .exe with a version 4.2 has resolved the issue, services start and all ok.My questions are, I’ve seen the kb about manually upgrading minor versions, but how is it possible to upgrade to v7? CV doesn’t support manually upgrading major version.Will running v4.2 cause any problems, it appears to have been fine for the last few days since I’ve done this.Will this resolve in the next upgrade?  Is this a known issue for 11.36.68?

Hi, Some of my colleagues and I have noticed that as of recently, the ‘Expert’ section on https://documentation.commvault.com appears to no longer be available, as least not the way it used to be. The section does not appear in the navigation, regardless of whether viewing documentation for 11.32, 11,40, etc.;  The section can still be accessed by navigating to a specific URL (e.g.: https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/troubleshooting_restores_oracle_agent_01.html) though it will redirect to /commcell-console/ rather than /expert/. Hi, We are currently running Commvault 11.32.102 and we are affected by the following CVE's:CVE-2025-48988CVE-2024-54677CVE-2025-49124CVE-2025-46701CVE-2024-50379CVE-2024-56337CVE-2025-31651CVE-2025-49125CVE-2025-24813CVE-2025-53506CVE-2024-52318CVE-2025-52520CVE-2025-31650Support mentioned that the vulnerabilities does NOT affect Commvault.But this version of Tomcat (10.1.31.0) is still vulnerable and is solved in version 10.1.42 which requires 11.42 (which is not a LTS version). How to solve it in current LTS versions (11.32, 11.36 or 11.40)?

We are trying to access the Commcell JAVA GUI from the outside Comm server. From the client we are able to download the galaxy.jnlp and launch. During the login we are getting the error message unable to connect to Commcell.  Is there any specific ports need to be opened at Firewall except 80 and 81?
