Hello, we have many VSA backup jobs running and are now planning to change the names of the VMs on VCenter side. Currently these are only with the name in Vcenter and that should be changed to the FQDN of the VMs. Now my question would be if the change to the FQDN could affect the VSA backups or if we have to consider something.Kind RegardsThomas

but [dmz_ap1] commvault services online.so i restart services. then it’s status normalI must restart every morning. What's the cause?

Hi,one Question for Enable horizontal scaling of DDB.Did I need the Baseline Space on the Storage after activation or did he convert the old DDB?Thx!

We were able to configure the sql backups on certain machines, by stopping the services, putting the gmsa account on the CVD service (following this : https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/138465_using_group_managed_service_accounts_for_sql_server_agent.html )for some machine, we restart the services and we get the windows error.I saw clearly in the event viewer the error, but since it’s a gmsa account I don’t know the password, so I can’t correct it manually.I had to go back to regular account to have the backups running , again…Anyone had a similar issue?thxGilles from the Montreal area 

Hi all ,i got tape problem- no active controller assigned  ,initializing device failed .in the library all good and work , the problem in the commvault .the write to storage work prefect  .full scan not working (library is not ready )after reset library got error message (initialzing device failed ) anyone got this problem  ? any suggestion  ? Best Regard,Dudi shaya

I received a request to backup and restore Kubernetes applications using the Application iData Agent. In my case a MongoDB and only individual collections should be able to be restored, for example. The BOL allows backups of Kubernetes apps to be application-consistent only. Why isn't there a way to backup App Aware on Kubernetes? Is there perhaps a feature planned for future versions?

Hi, This question is for the workflow guys.We created a workflow which monitors certain running jobs, which is scheduled to start every day, in the workflow there is a condition which ends the workflow when there are no running jobs and a loop which executes every 5 minutes to check the status of the running jobs.In some cases, our jobs running jobs takes too long to complete, and we want to force our workflow to complete when reaching certain hours (For example 01:00 AM) even if there are still some running jobs. My question is, is there any way to make the workflow run for a defined interval of time ? Here are what I’m thinking of so far :Inside the workflow, before each iteration of the loop, check the time and if a certain time is reached, the workflow completes. For this one, I don’t know if the workflow editor offers the tools to implement this, or should we make it execute a script that we have to create manually from scra

Commvault upgrade includes upgrade of Commserve Console, Media agents and Servers (VM and Physical). We have about 14 different sites and over 500 servers so I cannot complete upgrade of Commcell console in a day. Probably it will take about a month to complete upgrade across site. So my question is will the backup have any issues when the commcell console (11.24) is in an upgrade version and the media agent and servers are in lower version (11.16)

IHAC using NetApp storage as Library mount paths, not supporting Sparse Files.Without Sparse File support, we cannot accurately calculate the usage of mount path data, but this is expected as normal cases.But this MSP customer, they’re still using BET charging to tenant users (I tried to eliminate this for couple of years but not succeeded yet), requires how much data actually occupied.It’s simply not easy and impossible to get accurate data, especially under DDB utilization since Commvault is retaining only the stats for non-aged jobs, so quite difficult to accumulate how much is written/purged as of now.Still we can retrieve rough image of usage from Commvault logs, from DDB Verification job results.After running DDB Verification, we can get reclaimable stats at a log file named DDBMntPathInfo.log on MA server(s) like (this is actual data at customer's site): 9601 2581 10/31 08:06:34 22551699 ==============

Background story:IHAC who upgrade VMware environment (from 6.0 to 6.5), copy VMs from old environment (vCenter/ESX) to new, so need to change Commvault side to change access path to vCenter at client level. Problem here, one VSA client has multiple subclients which contain some VMs as contents, these VMs are not migrated at the same time, so we cannot change vCenter access path until we migrate all VMs to new environment, because of that there's a request to copy subclient information "one-by-one" to new VSA client (how to retain job sequences would be another topic, slightly complicated per Index versions). We can achieve this by creating new subclients on new client one-by-one by specifying all attribures (contents, configurations, etc.), but some of clients have over 100 of subclients each, so requested automated approach, which could be Commvault Workflow.Major problems on Commvault automation to create subclients,We're not

Continued topic from Community Topic #10 VSA subclient information #1As we can copy VSA subclients from one VSA client to another using tricky and slightly dangerous approacy utilizing Clone CLI, unfortunately there's another issue that we cannot clone individual schedules (not schedule policy settings, this would be cloned).To achieve this, we need to modify CSDB again.Basically schedule information is stored in TM_Task and TM_SubTask tables, but other tables started from TM_ also be involved.And another thing is, the format to generate schedule is quite complicated so cannot easily mimic the behavior, so I took an approach to copy all records to new schedule at SQL level.Digging a lot, we can achieve like this:List up all schedules per subclient.

Hi All.I download the last package - a trial version - for evaluate the Commvault performance.When I did try to install the package, arrive at one point when the installation process request me to insert the ‘sa’ password.I created one Windows server (2019 standard version) ad hoc for this test. After the installation of the Operative System how first product I did install Commvault.On this server don’t exist other additional middleware program.When I arrive at the moment that the installation program request me to insert the “sa” password I did try to insert different options without success.Actually I can’t continue with the installation program.I did try to looking for other possibilities for set the password of SQL Server, without success too.I would like to know how can I make for fix this problem for finish the process installation.THanks in advance.Best RegardsRicardo

Hello All,I understood we need odd number of servers to setup the index server cloud. However when we have 5 node in cloud, 3 for HAC and 2 for index store. In this case 2 index store node will have a disk capacity based on the sizing.Lets consider i am setting up exchange on prem backups with content indexing, i have 5 node index cloud and two access nodes. I will also have share for job results directory.Now the question is around the index server cloud setup, when i create the index server its requesting to update the index directory location but i have two nodes acting as index store in this case which node disk should be used for the index directory when i configure the index server cloud.If i use any 1 of the node disk then if that node fails or down due to some reason i will not be able to search \ browse the index from that node in this scenario this will be single point of failure even if we call it as Index server cloud with HAC rite.I wo

I love activate- This app has made our legal audits almost hands off and I love it. I do have an issue- I dont know how to export more than 500 rows of a report generated from Activate.Currently I am in the File Storage optimizaion field and clicking on a access time 0-1 years. I click the review button and 2.8 million itms pop up. Id like to export that as a csv..which is simple-- click the cog and hit export. However, it only exports the max of 500 rows.Yea - i know - do 500 at a time-. No thanks.  Ideas? 

Hello All, We have recently observed that as soon as the Hyper-V VSA backups were triggering the hosts were randomly rebooting. While going through the windows event logs, we observed there were multiple error messages getting logged during the backup window:  An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk14\DR385 during a paging operation. The shadow copies of volume \\?\Volume{20628861-0000-0000-0000-100000000000} were aborted during detection because a critical control file could not be opened. Filter Manager failed to attach to volume '\Device\HarddiskVolume26'.  This volume will be unavailable for filtering until a reboot.  The final status was 0xC03A001C. The IO operation at logical block address 0x800 for Disk 8 (PDO name: \Device\000000d2) was retried. The Volumes and Harddisk drives that were reported in these logs were not local to the hosts, these were the VHDX file

Hi,i have to perform OS refresh of some physical MA ( 2 grid of 4 MA). We will upgrade from Windows Server 2012 to 2019.my purpose is about data availability because our disk libraries are configured with Local LUNs on each MA shared with others via Dataserver-IP option.The problem is when one MA is unavailable for the upgrade, their mount paths were not readable for the others MA. I have search in the documentation and i don’t find any uses cases for doing a MA refresh with shared mount paths. please advice Kind regards,christophe

Dear all,is there any way to sync the internal schedule with an external application such as Outlook or similar?I understand this would be a one-way synchronization but it still would be useful to integrate Commvault schedule into an external calendar. Alternatively, also an export could be a usable solution. Thank you!Gaetano

Will it have a negative impact on the server or the application running on it?I'm thinking of using this because while taking a backup on one of our servers, clbackup and cvfwd processes are using high cpu.
