Hello Team,We want to configure File system backup using Commvault.Currently our file data in Dell Powe scale storage and backup is running using of NDMP, we are going to migrate file system data to HPE storage.We got update from HPE, the NDMP protocol will not support from HPE storage.Please advise how to configure the file system backup with our ndmp.

Hello,We’re going to deploy the commvault cassandra agent on a cluster (first time for both us and the client, as of right now they’re using medusa to manage cassandra backups) and the cassandra cluster will be in a different security zone to the commvault backend. As such, we need to make internal requests to open the necessary ports between zones.My question concerns the Staged type of restore, and ports 7000,9042/7001,9142 specifically.From what i gather from the commvault docs, the way a Staged restore works is, the tables are pulled from storage (in our case cloud storage, either S3 or DataDomain), temporarily copied to a directory on a Staging Location (where SSTableLoader runs for this type of restore) and then streamed into the Cassandra nodes. I’d like to know the following:The way i understand it, the host of the Staging Location needs to be the Media Agent. Hi all, what’s the difference between File System and Application Consistent using VMware Tools and Application Aware Backup in the context of MS SQL and Oracle inside VMware VM? When do we use one vs the other?If I understand correctly, Application Aware backup will push application agent/plug-in, but not for File System and Application Consistent using VMware Tools. Dear Team, We encountered an issue during a VM-level backup of an OLVM-hosted Oracle DB server. Immediately after the backup started, the Oracle database went down. We killed the backup job, but the VM snapshot was not deleted.We engaged the Oracle vendor to remove the stale snapshot; however, the snapshot could not be deleted.At present, we only have full file system backups (no recent image-level backup). Please advise on the best approach to recover the server end-to-end. If there are alternative options, kindly share them so we can first validate in our lab environment and then proceed in production if successful. Regards,Mani D

Need some assist to configure private matrics reporting server

If netapp is managing snap mirror directly, can commvault be configured to mount and create backup copies from mirror copy created by netapp? Or snap mirror process needs to be managed by commvault and only then a backup copy can be created from mirror copy?

Hello,I did failover with CommServe LiveSync. We have a Dell Isoilon storage cluster hosting smb shares which are configured as libraries in Commvault The SQL backup to the libraries seem okay again we are using DDB and the stats say write load 40% DDB lookup 15% and network load 40% for backups; however the throughput is 660GB which is irrelevant although unique data of 34 GB took over an hour also there are 4 objects during the backup so I suspect it had used multiple streams during backup however when doing the restore of a single database; it took over 31 hours and looking at the logs the culprit is slow reads; can I increase streams during restore when restoring just 1 DB ; also given the issue is stemming at reading and everything looks fine at Dell Isolion side (cpu memory etc); I had paused all the other jobs what shall I do next may be a read test?   CVPerfMgrRestore.log:19611: |*27612*|*Perf*|11076969|     Perf-Counter                                                             Time(seconds)              Size |_SDT: Rece

When creating a new cloud storage, I am asked to enter the media agent. However since I am in a tenant(company) account, I do not have access to the infra server like commserve and media agents. How can I give minimum access to the tenant so that the tenant can add the storage?

After an unexpected upgrade to v11.40 from v11.32 all backups are now very slow. Low throughput and observed 99% DDB lookup. Backups aren’t completing. One Auxiliary copy has a huge 22TB of data that needs to be copied to tape. All these issue appeared after the upgrade

Is anyone else getting this error message every time their SynFulls run?  11.36.46 I want to say this stuff started happening when we moved from Server 2012 to 2022, but I don’t think that’s my problem.  Windows Server 2022 - CS, MAs, VSA Proxies Every time the SynFulls run, most of them sit there in a Waiting status, yet there is always a single stream that shows Active (some over 24 hours) and always throw this error message, which was supposedly fixed a few MRs ago:Error Code: [19:1926] Description: Some jobs were skipped due to read errors. Will retry after some time. Source: bccmvcs01, Process: JobManager I’m not doing anything special with them.  They are Continuous and do a SynFull every 7 days.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I remember when SynFulls would just run, and very quickly I might add, but now they just queue up and eventually finish after a looooong time.  We have 4 MAs - each with a piece of the DDB partition.  Not sure what other details you may need, but

Dear Team, We are currently running our CommServe (CS) and Media Agent (MA) on the same physical server with RAID-5 disks. Recently, we encountered an issue with the disk library where the mount path went offline due to data corruption. As a result, we are unable to access the mount path drive.The affected hard disk has been removed and handed over to a third-party company for data recovery. The disk contains critical data such as email archives, file system backups, SQL, Oracle, and VM backups. Based on their assessment, the recovery process may take one to two weeks, and in some cases, it could extend beyond a month.In the meantime, we need to ensure that backups for our critical servers continue without disruption. Hi All,We are deploying Commvault SaaS Endpoint Backup for laptops and would like to know if SCIM provisioning in the Enterprise Application can be used to synchronize users and groups from Entra ID to the Commvault tenant.The reason for this query is that, while SCIM synchronization successfully creates users in the Commvault tenant, the group synchronization fails with the attached error message. Could you please confirm if any additional configuration is required on the Commvault tenant side to resolve this issue?   

I want to restore database to point in time in the past.I see in comm console there are available old backups. I am giving the following command and it errors. There is a weekly full backup and daily incremental backups and archivelog backups.There is  full successful backup on 08-23-2025. Hey all,Forgive my newbie-ness.I am attempting to setup Azure backup in CommVault 11.26.62.  I created the Hypervisor, but had some questions about the Access Node setup.  I want to put the access node in my region where my storage and VMs are, but my confusion is with it requiring a computer group.  I don’t have any of my Azure groups listed in CV yet, as I don’t have the access node/hypervisor setup, right?If anyone has any documentation on this config i’d sure be interested in knowing.  The CV documentation is, well, just not that good as far as I can tell.Thanks!
