Hello, Is there a feature in Commvault that estimates / projects what amount of new tapes would be required for a specific future time range? Just looking for something more concrete than observations from new tapes being uses / purchase history.

I added a file server as described and the control host that currently hosts the file server. Due to a malfunction, however, the file server was moved to the other control host shortly afterwards. This caused problems with the backup. Can anyone help me with the SQL query or table name where I can see the DDB generation i.e. DDB V4 or V5. 

Good afternoon I have two quick questions. We will be testing Domino DB backups for a customer. I can’t seem to find anything regarding any user accounts required to access the DB’s for backup/restore.Does Domino not use any accounts for authentication to the DB?I also see Domino V12 is not supported by Comvmvault yet. Does this mean that the backup process will fail or will it work, but isn’t supported.Thanks,Mauro

Hi everyone,We enabled 2FA on our customer’s environment and we disabled SSO. Couldn’t find anything in a web search for this exact error, so before I create a support ticket, I wanted to get forum moderator eyes on this.Background: we take weekly synthetic fulls of our daily incremental jobs. Then at the beginning of each month, we look back 2 months ago, and age out any synthetic fulls that are not the last one of that that month. This way, we should have a single end-of-month synthetic full backup for each month, starting 2 months ago and going 12 months, after that point we age out and expire the oldest synth fulls.Problem: a user asked me for a folder from 11 months ago. No problem, I think - that’s what our old synth fulls are for.We’re using the Windows File Agent, so I “show backup history” on the subclient, scroll down to the bottom of the list, right click the synthetic full for June 26, 2021, and hit “browse and restore”I immediately get an error in the browser: “No items found in the index, possibly index is being rebui

When using “activate”, you can add an inventory. Within that inventory I can add ‘file server’ and ‘name server’ asset. I am working on a workflow that will, among other pieces, suspend all running jobs and then execute a command on each CV infrastructure server. However, I’m having trouble with two aspects of this. First: I have been unable to force the script to wait until all jobs have actually suspended before continuing on to the next steps. It executes the command, and all jobs suspend, but the next step still happens even while there are jobs in “Suspend Pending” status. How can I force the workflow to pause/hold until all jobs are suspended?Second: I have a Client Computer Group created that contains all of the servers on which I’m wanting to execute the script. How do I program into the workflow to automatically choose that group?

Hi !We have 2 VCenter servers, let’s say VCenterA and VCenterB, each managing different VirtualDatacenters with multiple ESXi hosts on multiple sites, each hosting hundreds of VMs.We are using only one Commserve to backup the VMs hosted on each of the VCenters, and I have created a VMWare VSA client for VCenterA, and another one for VCenterB. Today my VMWare admin is telling me he would like to quickly use the VMWare Enhanced Linked Mode to be able to centralize his VCenters’ administration, perform operations between both VCenters like enhanced vMotion, and so on. I have searched the CV documentation site for ELM keyword or Enhanced Linked Mode, but found no result. What I fear is that after linking both VCenters, this would have an impact on the way my Commserve would report the VMs, being then able to ‘see’/discover the VMs of VCenterA in my VSA client for VCenterB, and see the VMs of VCenterB in my VSA clie

Hi Commvault Community, I would like to ask, how many simultaneous virtual machines on Nutanix can be backed up by one VSA server using the hotadd transport mode? We have three scenarios: 1) In which two VSA servers simultaneously backup 10 virtual machines with a total capacity of 1.3TB over 6 hours. 2) Backup of the same machines one after another with two VSA servers takes 1 hour and 30 minutes. 3) Simultaneous backup of the same machines by means of 3 VSA servers takes 15 minutes. The consumption of CPU and RAM during the task doesn’t exceed 50% (each VSA has 8CPU and 8GB RAM).Why such differences in time and what will be the Best Practices in this situation? Thanks&Regards,Kamil

Hi, We have an Exchange Online backup that functioned for around a year but has not been working in 8-9 months due to environmental issues. We’re trying to get it back up and running now and had to create a new Job Results folder. The backup initially failed with “the job results folder does not exist” but I’ve sinced recycled the services on the access node (which also hosts the job results folder) and deleted the old job results folder. Now the backup is failing with error code 28:428 Failed to get current archive results. Has anyone encountered this issue before?

V11.25 SAN-Attached Tape LibraryHow many drives are supported at one library? We use a big VTL and have no problem to configure 500 and more to one tape lib. Now we have unclear failures and I want to check in general if we have reached a hard coded limit. We work with 600 and more drives.I looked up documentation.commvault.com but cannot find anything about limits.Can you help? 

My customer cannot log on to the Commvault Command Center adman console with his active directory account.  Error message goes straight to “Invalid User name or Password.”  He is able to use his AD account for other systems.  He has not logged on to the admin console in awhile so I am not sure when it stated.   I cannot find any entries in the current EvMgrS or CVD.log

Hello,I have 2 VM MediaAgent installed for cloud backup, both Media Agent have DDB With 4 partitions. To make a full air Gap i enable Power Manager on both Media Agent. And i created DDB verification scheduler for Cloud DDB. But mostly of time when the scheduler start and commvault turn vm's on then some of partitions breaking down and DDB Reconstruction start. 

Hi,Im having issues with throttling network utilisation for aux copies. I have about 10 Storage Policies all with Secondary copies.I’ve configured “Throttle Network Bandwidth (MB/HR)” to 25000 for the secondary copy for all storage policy. If my maths is correct that would be approx 50Mbps per aux copy. Even with all 10 running at the same times utilisation shouild only be approx 500Mbps.However through network montioring i can see when these aux copies are running they are using well over the 50Mbps configured (and saturating the network).Is my maths wrong is or the throttling configuration not  working how i expect it to work?Thanks in advance for any responses.

Hello, We have two domain controllers in our infrastructure, which are located in two separate datacenters linked by dark fibre, and Active Directory replication is enabled between them.Currently, commvault only protects one domain controller that is backed up via iDA and does not protect the second dc.I also discovered that commvault has no access to the second site, implying that the firewalls are preventing access. My question is, what is the best way to backup Active Directory with replication enabled so that you can recover completely if one of your domain controllers fails?What ports are suggested for communication between Commvault and the two domain controllers(is just 8403 enough) ?Is system state backup required in this case?Could you please provide your valuable input on this?I'd appreciate it if you could be more specific with the details as I am newbie to AD . Thanks in advance...

Hello everyone, i’ve got a question to the backup from Microsoft 365 Exchange Online.Why can we backup the mailboxes only as “forever incremental”? Doesn’t it makes sense to be able to do a Synth Full from time to time?I see why we can’t make a full backup over the internet. That makes totally sense to me.The synthetic full however is performed directly on the Commserve and not over the internet.Thats why i don’t understand that we are only able to do a forever incremental. We already asked that our consultat, but he didn’t had an anwser either.So maybe someone of you now the reasons for that. Thanks,Kilian   

Hi All,I imported the “Client monthly growth report” from store in command center. When I opened the report, then it says that no records\data available. In settings I’m keeping client metadata for 84 days. It should show me the comparison for 2-3 months of each client. Any suggestions?

hi, we had a services engineer create a new mount path using special caracters for the services account.how ever it gave an error when trying to login, that there where insufficient permissions.they only changed was the password to be less complex (just basic caracters) so there are expecting they used a caracter that is not supported.i checked the docs and i could not find articles stating this for the a Mount path. i was able to find ones for Commserve livesync and other components.do the same rules apply to a mount path service account? Kind Regards, Thos Gieskes.

We’re trying to install commvault client on RHEL in /opt/hds directory for compatibility reasons.instead it installs in /opt/hds/commvaultI have tried dirty tricks with sed and config files in /etc/CommVaultRegistry but nothing worked so far.Any idea how to force it to install to /opt/hds ?

Hello to all!In case of jobs replication (secondary copy), I see that these 2 options are available: Auxiliary copy & Dash copy.Whats the pros and cons of each?Dash copy is for deduplicated data (with Commvault dedup engine) and the Auxiliary copy for the rest “transitional data” / jobs?Lets share your thoughts.Nikos
