Hi,I want to backup and archive my netapp cifs shared. When I read through documentation online, there is NAS & ndmp backup.I believe the best way is through ndmp backup using MA as ndmp remote server.I just don’t get on the archive potion. The data access node and f-policy proxy can I use the same MA use for backup?Will it be like one-pass, where I just run backup and then archive will be based on the rules set within the same backup process? Or different backup and archive set need to be created and run different job? regards,Fauzi

Hi, we are configuring the Intellisnap backups for the virtual machines. Configured sublcients with datastore affinity rules. Snapmirror is configured for the datastore to DR site. we want to integrate this set up with SRM, When we made the DR site volume RW and set up a backup & snapmirror to the original location, instead of replicating to the old volume, it is creating a new volume. is there any way we can configure in CV so that reverse replication will be done to the original volume instead of craeting a new volume Thank you Jayaram  

File System Backup completing with errors :-The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process . logs have been attached for reference  Troubleshooting done :- a) Restarted Commvault & VSS Services on Client Machine  As per logs there are multiple file extensions so if exclusions are to be setup , it would be global ones or specific to client 

I configured AWS EC2 intellisnap and backup copy, primary snap Retain snap by number of job as 1. Run daily incr, weekly full and monthly full schedule.  I could see Commvault retain all snapshot from June 16, has more than 6 snapshot for each volume. Maybe some daily incr. is waiting for some weekly full job. Commvault already provide DDB, daily incr. and daily full should be no more different.  Shall we use daily full and weekly full, or what is best practice for backup type for AWS intellisnap.

Please, why are we having this kind of issue?   When I tried to recopy it, that's the error message I got.

This is a request for information on best practices and general overview. We are in the process of migrating from our existing file share to VSphere File Shares. There doesn’t appear to be a lot of information since this is a new service from VMware.I believe the best way is to deploy the file system agent to each of the fs share nodes that VSphere created. Since these are Photon OS, the Linux tar file should still be correct^Looking for confirmation or elaboration on both of those points!I found this article referencing NFS shares, but mine are SMB and its response link with the VEEAM add in but it’s not a great correlation with my issue    Vmware Vsan NFS share | Community (commvault.com)

Hello, When using plans we would like to extend the retention time for some client using a selective copies and reuse the same Global deduplication policy. Most of our backups are IntelliSnap snapshots. Is this possible, how would we best do it? Are there any best practices for this?

To leverage MCSS we need to select a MA on premise and then send it to Azure. If you wish to leverage dedupe which is turned on by default the DDB will need to reside on the MA on premise correct? Also the MCSS/Azure is Cool Storage, correct? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.Joe

Hello !In our configuration, there were many licenses, both permanent and temporary, trying to move from volume licensing to socket licensing. The result is sad, the temporary license will end soon.Maybe someone knows how to clear the configuration from licenses and apply a permanent one?

Hi The post below helped remove jobs that would not clearThe ‘issue’ is these non clearable jobs are now appearing every dayThese jobs appear to be:The “4am” jobs that backup VM’s that failed overnight backups These “4am failed virtual machine” jobs are in the discovery Phase - but show as 100% completed - and do not clear - preventing the next evenings job (for the associated subclient) from running I’m happy to raise a support ticket, but hoped the community might be able to help(Currently on 11.25.19)   

HELLO GUYS.The SAP Hana backup was running perfectly.But, unexpected error started with the following message."UNABLE TO ESTABLISH CONNECTIVITY WITH THESE INTANCE PROPERTIES FOR [xx]. [INSTANCE PROPERTIES VALIDATION FAILED. PLEASE CHECK DB CREDENTIALS.]"I contacted the SAP HANA team. I was told that DATABASE is online and operational. And the user "backup" has the credentials OK. I asked for a password reset.However, none of this resolved. Error persists.

Hi Folks I was reviewing this thread:   which seems to be precisely the same issue I am running into.  I’ve searched through my registry but could not find the appropriate key, so I created it, although I must not have created it in the right spot, I’ve made some other error, OR this is no longer the way to solve the issue.  I have tried both here:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CommVault Systems\Galaxy\Instance001\WFEngineAnd here:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CommVault Systems\Galaxy\WFEngineI created the key and dword value (ValidateSSL=0) in both locations, tried restarting the workflow engine and also tried restarting the whole machine, but I still have had no luck.Any Tips or suggestions?Is there any way to read the environment to confirm the key was set and the workflow engine has confirmed the setting?My error is still:  PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target<br>Source:

I have to perform VM machine restore from VMware Hypervisor to Azure resource manager. Below tasks must be done before starting a source VM backup. Install Hyper-V drivers (hv_vmbus hv_netvsc hv_storvsc) on the source VM - As it’s mentioned Hyper-V drivers, So, will this only needs to be installed if source is Hyper-V VM or is it applicable for VMware VM as well?Run the following command to modify the boot image: (sudo dracut -f -v -N) - what is the actual impact of modifying boot image and will this cause anything for source VM?Considering the source VM OS is Red-Hat Linux - Is above two tasks are enough to start with source VM Backup or is there any additional settings needs to be changed/taken care before start with source VM Backup.

Hello,When Commvault is licensed using “Per VM” model it is allowed to install Commvault backup agents (MS SQL, Oracle, Filesystem,..) inside VMs, to protect data on those VMs, in this case vOI license is used.In some cases it makes no sense to backup those VMs using VSA agent if it is backed up by application specific agent, in another cases it is not possible, for example VMs with physical RDM disks.Question: Is it allowed from licensing perspective to backup VMs using only agent inside VM, without VSA  backup, will it comply with “Per VM” licensing model?Br,Andrejs

hi Vaulter , i got my ESxi Crashed along with cv MA inside.i created  one fresh MA, put it on the disk library, after completed the validating mountpath process, i try to restore one of my backup from there,( view jobs from storage policy -- select a full job listed there -- right clik -- browse n restore -- view content. the error is Index Server [] is not reachable. Please retry after sometime.red cross on the rightis there a way to restore my backup since the storage holds the backup data?bunch of thanks in advance...regardsDing
