Hello All, I am process of creating Global deduplication policy for different agents VM, File and DBs and I want different DDB’s based on agent wise to get better performance.But I am looking for all DDBs under same GDP. so I am looking for procedure to create the same. Thank you.

The APP_VM table seems to only include information for VM’s that have been backed up.Where is non-backed up VM information held? Thanks.Chris.

Hello.The Commserve server you are currently using has Commserve version 11 Servicepac8 installed (OS is Windows 2016)Error message 'Error: Failed to install IIS Server Roles 2012 (IIS Server Roles 2012) with error code 0x80070422.' occurred during Commvault SerivcePack 20 upgrade.IIS 10.0 is currently installed on that server, and the Windows update service is running normally.Is there a way to install IIS Server Roles 2012 separately?Or if there is another solution, please share it.Thank you.

Hello, I want to performe VSA upgrade to V2. We using 2 Vcenters with V1 indexing. What are the steps i need to do before using workflow VSA V1> V2 Do i need to add new vcenter first and then use the workflow? And what about the usage of storage. Do i need to have the same amount free storage that used for one Vcenter backup

hi, I was recently discussing with a customer.Their wish is to backup a Datastores files only like the folder marked red in below screenshot:this data is not presented to VM so I did not know of a way to do this.is there any way to backup that specific folder via a VSA backup?or will we need to present the data in a different way? thanks and kind regards,Thos Gieskes.

Hi everyone After successful installation of commvault, i am unable to add disk library using Network path from a shared folder. it keeps giving me the error “Failed to verify the device from Media Agent with the error (failed to log on user to write file…….)  .  the user has been given full permission right as admin but not working out.  what could be the problem?

Hi All, maybe you have an idear. We had 2 GDSPs in the enviroment which gets the status resync scheduled.  The Daily DDB Verifiy jobs running fine without any problem.  The Status of the DDbs is chaning from different time. An DDb Restore was not started.   Do you have an idear ?

Hi,I'm getting the error [24:64] Description: There was nothing to restore - subclient(s) not backed up.When I do the restore of the virtual machine the restore works normally, but when I restore the guest files and folder, the commvault shows this error.  I can also browse the files normally, does anyone have any idea what might be going on? restores are for Nutanix AHV.

Hi, I normally back up my oracle instances, a full weekly and incremental the other days. All backup jobs are successful, but I don't understand why I don't see any available backups in the recovery point calendar. Can you help me understand what the problem is? ThksDario

Lately we are having several windows servers (6 until now in the past 2 weeks) getting into recovery mode. By coincidence the only thing that we updated lately was the commvault version to 11.25.19.Could commvault be causing windows to enter recovery mode?

Hi community,I am running a large Hyper-V and VMware setup and several admins are editing the subclients.When we edit two different VSA subclients (for the same VSA pseudo client) at the same time, we get an error message:→ This property sheet is opened by ‘user1’ your changes may be overwritten by ‘user2’and wenn the second user leaves the subclient after editing the changes are lost and we get the message:→ There have been changes made to this subclient or backup set. Please refresh Commcell Console and resubmit your changes. From my point s not make sense. If this were two subclients in a File System Agent this would make sense, because these subclients affect each other. But in a VSA setup these subclients are/should be independend. And even more strange: I can edit the two subclients in the Command Center (aka VM-Groups) without an error. Is there any setting to avoid the “locking” of VSA subcli

is there any way of dropping a DB prior to a scheduled restore? I don’t think there is an option to do this but is there a simple way to capture the list of drops a drop them ahead of the restore starting?

In the following URL vSAN Support for the Virtual Server Agent with VMware (commvault.com), it is written “For Service Pack 11 and later, the Virtual Server Agent (VSA) provides support for streaming backups, IntelliSnap backups, and restores of virtual machines on VMware Virtual SAN (vSAN) datastores.”In the case of  VMware vSAN, what is the difference between streaming & Intellisnap backups?Is the hotadd transport mode linked to Intellisnap backups and the NBD transport mode linked to streaming backups?Thanks & Regards

When I want to backup Exchange online, Sharepoint online, Ondrive and teams do I need 4 access nodes? There is little data in ondrive and teams can I use the same access node? 

We use metallic to backup our azure VMs using the metallic hot storage. Both are in east us. We have on-prem servers that are hosted on a hyper-v that we would also like to back up to the hot storage. How should we go about it? The on-prem location has a site-to-site with our azure environment. Should we create the gateway on an azure vm or an on prem vm? What about the proxy server? I would like to minimize costs as much as possible.Thanks in advance! 

I have purchased an HPE StoreEasy 1660 device for on-site storage of our Commvault backups.  As I am working through setting this device up, a number of questions have come up which got me wondering if there is a “best practice” to follow so I can get this in an optimal configuration for Commvault backup storage.I am setting up a RAID 6 array.  The device is running Windows Server 2019.  What allocation unit size would be best? I have the ability to join this device to our domain.  Are we in a more secure position if I don’t join it to the AD domain?  I’ve got ransomware risks on my mind. Any other suggestions?
