Please ensure that the proxy is able to communicate with the ESX host and resolve the ESX host address. Also verify that the disks types configured to the virtual machine are supported. i`ve allready change all transport mode, from auto, san, nbd, sslnbd. but it still failed. anyone has solved this problem before? Hi all, I am facing an issue with Microsoft 365 Exchange Mailboxes backup. I am successfully backing up most of them, but I’ve recently detected that a few of them are still not included in the scope. First idea was that I just skipped them accidently, but after another attempt to “Add Mailbox” > Put a tick next to a target > Save - that did nothing, regardless the popup message confirmed that “Successfully Updated the selected User Mailbox”. We have a few similar cases and the only common thing I could notice between all these mailboxes that all of them had another mailboxes with the same name already being backed up. For example a user owns two mailboxes - user.name@domain.com and user@dom.com, both of them have Names “User Name”. I would like to have them both backed up, but here I face that issue, that I am able to Add only one of them, while another stays unselected. I hope I was able to put everything down clear enough and you’ll be able to give me a hint how to workaround
Hello Everyone,Today I have faced a peculiar problem in commcell console. Whenever I try to check my schedule policies under Policies there is nothing. But if i check from a clients view>schedules there are policies. This happened after I updated to 11.24.0. Have anyone faced this issue? Is this related to the newest update? Please help. Sumit
Hello,I look for a way to distinguish between MAXDB log backups and data backups in the REST API.As you can see in the attached screenshot they are marked as "Incremental (Log, Config)" and "Incremental (Data, Config)" in the GUI, but the REST API marks both as backup type "Incremental" without additional information.I have checked the queries for the job summary and job details, but all attributes (backupLevelName, localizedBackupLevelName, backupType) say "Incremental".Is there any way to get this additional information?I am also looking for a way to query log backups from SAP HANA. My current logic is to look for job type 18 ("Application Command Line Backups") and process all SAP HANA backups as log backups. However, I can't guarantee if this is always the case. Is there another way to query such backups?
Hi,new egde clients have enabled ‘extend storage policy retention’ by default.Questions:Where can this default be disabled (globaly, for new clients)? How can all clients with ‘extend storage policy retention’ be listed (e.g. via SQL or Rest API query)? How can this setting b disabled via script (1.400 clients affected). The commcell is on 11.20.Thanks, Kay
Hi everybody, I have the same problem since update hfp53. I cannot push the network configuration to my clients.could you solve this problem? Thanks!
I’ve configured a Lustre File System backup using 5 data nodes. When creating the subclient, I can specify the reader numbers I can use.Once the sublclient is created, I notice that the option to change this is disabled and it selects the optimised reader option. We have a POC environment that has the option to change the reader count. Is there a way I can configure this setting so I can make changes as I need to?
Hello,Our organisation is looking at start using Bitlocker on servers.I suppose commvault agents do support backing up drives with Bitlocker enabled.Any specific recommendations regarding it?BRHenke
I just want to ask a question regarding a SAP Hana log (point in time) restore. It’s an in place restore, from point in time selected.Does the entire DB need to be restored (as I’m seeing) prior to the logs being applied? Thanks so much.Mauro

This could be totally unrelated; however recently we upgraded our Commcell to 11.22.17 last week Thrusday; we pushed the MediaAgent and client upgrade this week on Monday; we are seeing increase VM level quiescing warning across different customers; the only change that seem to have happened is upgrade of Commvault VADP proxy; I know quiescing process is outside of Commvault; and we are asking customer to check their VMWARE environment however it is a bit wired that this issue started occuring after the change we made at the proxy
Question:Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue ?Error [By SMTPClient: Exceeded storage allocation. The server response was: 5.3.4 Error: message file too big] encountered while sending email for report [C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\Reports\JobsinStoragePolicyCopiesReport_8492_1994426_1832_1625659225.html] for job id [1994426].

Getting this message when trying to browse / restore from a specific full backup. There are several in a row that are affected. Backups before and after this group are fine. Any direction on how to fix this and find out why this happened?
Hi!Commvault FR 11.20. We’ll be upgrading to FR 11.24 in the Fall. We’ll also be standing up new Media Agents, with new DDBs. Is anyone aware of a write-up on DDB Version 5? All I can find are references to upgrading from DDB Version 4 to Version 5 (though it doesn’t tell you how to identify what version you’re currently using). https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/134342_upgrading_deduplication_database_to_v5.htmlI also can’t find any references in it in the release notes, though I think it first shows up in FR11.20. It appears to be far more scalable than previous versions. I just want to read an explanation of how it works. Thanks!
When attempting to populate a review set for a compliance search, we have noticed when the information management job is ran the CIServer directory of the search node expands, to a point as to where it fills up the OS drive and fails the job with the error code 19:1109. Is anyone aware of what this directory is for and whether we can move this onto another drive? Kind RegardsJon
Hello,I am trying to create a VMware pseudo client for VMware in a firewalled environment but after entering the credentials and click on ok “validating credentials” it takes a long time then “Failed to validate Virtual Server credentials. Please check input parameters and try again.”I have opened all required ports between MA and ESXI/vcenter according the matrix flow.https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=32026.htmtest also with administrator@vsphere.local and it is the sameany logs I can check ?
Hello CV Community I am now worryingly getting the following error on my month end backups to Cloud. Below are the two different errors. Has anyone come across this before. support are recommending to run data verification jobs on the partially copied jobs. However these jobs run in to days rather than hours and my aux copies are falling further behind. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kind regardsTonyQ
I have a couple of clusters that are failing to backup, in both cases the remote nodes are syncing good.I can browse to the cluster drives but not able to back them up. Question: What are the possible errors of logs to look at specific to the cluster backup
Hi all,in the jobs review for the storage policy I can see that all jobs are triggered under User Name "admin". Now, I need to change this to username "backup".Is the workaround "Transferring Ownership of Entities" (https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=95233.htm) the correct approach to change the User Name under the backup job is triggred?
Hi all, please make me the topic of inline copy clear. I understand, that if primary copy fails, secondary copy (aux copy) fails as well. However, if for some reason the storage for the secondary copy was not accessible and secondary copy was not able to carry on, what would be with the primary copy?
Hello everyone,I’m curious to know how many media agents you guys are running for your backups? I have about 300 VMs + fileshares where I have daily, weekly, monthly and yearly jobs running from a specific media agent. The server fails from time to time due the amount of information that goes through it, a reboot would fix it and all the jobs would continue without a problem. I’m aware that I need more servers dedicated to act as media agent but I do not know how many I should have and the specs they should have. The media agent has the following specs: 2 CPU: E5-2670 v3 @ 2.30GHzRam: 256 GBA support agent mentioned one time that he saw some org having 10 servers acting as media agent only to run half what we have. It sound a bit overkill to me and I believe the specs of their servers may have been worst than what we’re currently running. So, how many media agent are you using in your org? What are the specs for your servers?
This was a great post and I’m glad things are changing, but I would like to request one more improvement: can we not have the MFA secret key emailed?Email has a tendency to leave a trail all over the place. A copy can be grabbed from a relay, a spam filter, a deleted bin or even in a company-policy-mandated permanent archive. So if an admin’s mail-enabled domain credential gets hacked and that account is used to administer CommVault, then it just takes a quick search (maybe in the admin’s own inbox) for “CommServe Administrator just doubled your safety” and now you have the MFA secret key. Keep in mind, it’s been shown that attackers are inside company networks sniffing around for a while before they make their attack. The MFA secret key should be displayed to the end-user via the CommCell Console (ideally in a QR code) after the first successful authentication. It should never be sent through a permanent or semi-permanent medium such as email.
I’m pretty new to the whole Commvault backup software, so please bear if I’m asking a stupid question. We have a lot of storage policies which we aren’t using anymore for new backups. But these policies contain still a lot of backup jobs until their retention expires. So I wonder if it is possible to either copy these jobs to another policy so that we can delete the old ones, or if it’s possible to merge storage policies somehow? Thanks
