I’m planing to upgrade our Commserve from 11.28 to 11.36. During earlier updates I started the update with Commserve and Commcell Consol. If it succeeded, Media Agents followed one by one. Maybe our 8 MA was updated in two different day. Thereafter, clients followed.But now, in the “Changes in Commvault Platform Release 2024E (11.36)” document I can find that, “You must upgrade all MediaAgents at the same time.” Why is it mandatory?Commserve 11.36 can’t manage MA ‘s on version 11.28? Two MA, one on 11.28, other on 11.36 can’t work together? Not forever, just for a few days.Thanks in advance.

According to the documentation, we should enable the secure Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) for additional network security with the external domain. Important: This can only be enabled when the external domain is configured to use the secure LDAP. If this protocol is enabled from the CommCell Console, but not configured from the external domain, the feature is not enabled.How Can I check if the external domain is configured to use the secure LDAP?    

Hello, Recently, I have been encountering client certificate errors in my cases. While we can resolve them, I suspect that Commvault introduced some changes regarding client certificates starting from version 11.32. Could there be any insights or information about this issue?

Is it really not possible to create or manage ad-hoc backup / restore schedules within Command Center? 

Hi all,  Looking at below Microsoft documentation it seems AGP Azure Cool tier offers the same restore performance as AGP Azure Hot tier. Is that correct? "Data in the cool and cold tiers have slightly lower availability, but offer the same high durability, retrieval latency, and throughput characteristics as the hot tier."https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/blobs/access-tiers-overview Is it possible to have auto tiering for Azure AGP from Hot to Cool?

Hi, Is it possible (or is it on the roadmap) to use github app credential during github authentication? As far i understand only personal access key is possible now?  I was told by our github team that using app credentials is a good practice and allow us to use higher API limits.  Thanks.  

We are trying to back up a two-node MongoDB cluster. The discovery of nodes is successful and we are using the Nimble snap engine. After triggering the backup, we are able to see the snapshot being created on the storage. However, Commvault is unable to mount the snapshot to the host, due to the error mentioned. We tried mounting the snapshot manually to the host, but it failed with the same error. The iSCSI service on the nodes is active. -- “Failed to mount the Snapshot to the host - Failed to initialize CviSCSI library for iSCSI operation” 

We are currently testing Postgres backup and restore in the context of the new Patroni cluster support in CV 11.36.While testing we encountered multiple issues which seem to relate to expected configuration settings on the Postgres server.For example when we tried a full cluster restore (3 node Patroni cluster) with the option to restore all nodes we get an “Error Code: [19:1109]” (we have case 250331-524 open for this already).Another issue we currently have is when trying to restore out-of-place to another cluster-client we get:Error Code: [94:92]Description: Configuration Files check failed on Node [DE9899SP9]. Please check pre-requisites for Full Cluster Restore. Error: [One or more errors occurred while processing the request. Both Commvault AI and Commvault human support (human support seems to use copy-paste from their own AI) say that we need to re-add the Azure SSO configuration in order to renew the SAML certificate.This seems very inconvenient. This means I need to ask the customer to complete all the steps to create a new application with the correct details once more.Is there no way to renew the certificate and upload it to the existing Azure SSO config in Commvault?

Hello,We have several Pure arrays at our primary Data Center that regularly create and replicate snapshots to our Pure arrays at our DR site. I would like to use these snapshots as recovery points for Commvault so I would like Commvault to manage these snapshots. We would like to run snapshots every 4 hours or so and write 1 to disk every 24 hours. I would love to get input on how others have set this up. I’m considering doing this on the Storage Policy level but am not sure that’s the way to go.

During a case a question comes up. A big VSA environment with more than ten subclients. Template VMs should generally be filtered out.That is easy in Commcell Console. I set the filter on backup set level and this works for all subclients.How can I do this in Command Center?Setting all VSA filters on subclient level seems to be a step backwards in product development. The user is the admin.

We’ve done a big hardware refresh and are migrating all our VMs to a new Virtual Center. Our backup environment is not changing at this time so all the storage, media agents etc are all set up and happy already.I thought I’d take the opportunity to “modernise” our backups at the same time, starting to use plans instead of storage and schedule policies and hopefully get to the point where we can largely leave the java console behind and use the Command Center. Our Commvault environment is very mature (20 years) and a lot of work has gone into keeping it in good shape over the years, through many upgrades and hardware refreshes. It works beautifully. So I am pretty old school and very familiar with the old console. Not loving plans if I’m honest, we have two on prem blocks of storage and one cloud library, and we tend to keep everything on the same retention periods. Hi, We have a customer that is using Commvault Cloud Backup & Recovery SaaS for Active Directory (Metallic MTL-AD-USR) and is interested in the recovery of the Active Directory Forest. We have read that there is a new subscription (Commvault Cloud for Active Directory Enterprise Edition) but we do not see it in the Price List.  Does the customer have to upgrade from Commvault Cloud Backup & Recovery SaaS for Active Directory to Commvault Cloud for Active Directory Enterprise Edition or add this new subscription or replace Commvault Cloud Backup & Recovery SaaS for Active Directory with Commvault Cloud for Active Directory Enterprise Edition?Thanks,Paul

Does a return code “0” mean that the backup was completed successfully and no files have been skipped? Is there an official link that can confirm these codes? Asking because we want to use the status code “0” in an automated process.

we are having windows always on HA sql cluster , currently we are taking fileand app consitent vm backup and seperatly agent based sql backup . now we need to make DR for this in our azure site which is the better option !> VM replication , do i need to change the vm backup method to app aware ? in this case only primary node will be converted as app aware right ? i dont want to run the vm backup every 2 hour , instead i need to run log backup , can i just schedule log backup for same client  will this get replicated once the log backup completed ? 2 > warm sql replicaton  which one is recommended way 

We have over 100 systems in our CommCell computer group and most of the systems are backing up just fine. We have two schedules, a monthly full on the first Friday of each month and weekly incremental jobs. However, on one large file server, the incremental backups are routinely being converted to fulls. I see these messages in the job history: Backup job has been converted to a full backup because Data   Verification detected errorsThe full backups are causing quite a load on the file server. Looking at the job history, about ½ of the jobs are being converted from INCR to FULLs. How do I track down what is causing the verification errors so that it doesn’t have to convert incremental to fulls? Thanks,Q

Hi alli am using metallic and one of our plans has a retention policy of 30 days with a synthetic full each month i was wondering if cycles could pip this on retention ,although I would have to find the cycle settings hope this makes sense  Regards  Tony

I configured the Kubernetes cluster in the environment to perform the backup and added the namespace to perform the PostgreSQL backup. The job is executed and completed successfully, as is the restoration. However, when we upload the database application with the restored data, the error appears: Reported that the database restoration was unsuccessful due to problems mounting the persistent volumes, which prevented the application from uploading correctly.I checked the configuration and it seems to be configured with a Virtual Machine. Does anyone know if I need to configure it differently for the PostgreSQL database environment in Kubernetes, such as when backing up via an agent, for example?

For instance, is it possible to configure auto discovery for specific services like Amazon RDS? Can I configure global auto discovery across all resources in specific accounts? Is it feasible to filter discovered resources using tags?

Hi,I just update the MR from 11.36.41 to 11.36.49 by this flow:prod CS - instance 1prod CS - instance 2DR CS - instance 2and while I ran the update for DR CS instance 1 I’m getting the error: “Failed to established [COMMSERVE, DM2, WFEngine, CVCloud, HistoryDB, ...] database connection I have full access to CS DB and the user sqladmin_cv configure as sysadmin any solution? Thanks
