Hi all, So I have a customer that has expessed interest in Azue AD (EntraID) backup. According to BoL (https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/essential/azure_active_directory.html), only the following object types are protected: Users Groups Conditional access policies Enterprise applications App registrations Roles The customer is aking how to protect other objects, like devices, etc. Microsoft might create new object type at any time, why don’t we just protect all objects? 

Hi (new account due to email change, but still the same guy here)!I have a customer which wants to know if besides SAML and AD/LDAP, OpenID Connect is supported as a user authentication method for Command Center.Does anyone know if this is possible and/of if it’s being considered/developed?Thanks!

Overview In release 11.38 update pack 32,  we are introducing a new feature for both Software and SaaS database customer environments: log backup with caching for SQL, Oracle, and SAP HANA databases. This allows you to perform log backups at more frequent intervals and leverage a caching mechanism to securely and efficiently transfer transaction logs from the database server to backup storage. The Log Backup with Caching feature enhances database protection by enabling high-frequency transaction log backups—even during control plane/CommServe computer downtime. Logs are first written to a secure cache before being backed up to storage, allowing for data consistency and the potential to improve RPOs. This change will be enabled for new backup plans automatically and does not require action. Existing backup plans for SaaS customers will be updated over the coming months. Is the client machine with DEBIAN OS 6.0.7 compatible with the commvault version 11.32. I have tried in many ways to find the answer for this but not able to get the proper answer for this. Please help me on this. Thank You.

Hello Last week upgraded to 11.36 and today I removed old sql 2019 but apparently you also remove sql services. Now the sql database doesn't start anymore. I still have an old installation of sql 2022 with commvault license should I just start a new installation and then use the same instance ID which is set to passive? Or what is best practice in this situation??

Hi team, how much backup storage capacity will be consumed when using OnePass backup of VMware VM?Assuming we have one VMware VM (100 GB used inclusive 30 GB MS SQL DB). When we do a VM backup with DB agent, do we backup 100 GB (onepass) only? or we backup 100 GB (VM level) + 30 GB (DB agent)? It means backup storage will consume 100 GB + extra capacity from DB backup. Which one is correct?Thank you.

Hi,Commvault docs say that for Commserve DR I will require two Microsoft SQL Server agent licenses:“You must have two Microsoft SQL Server agent licenses, one for the production CommServe host and the other for the standby CommServe host.”But then the Licensing guide says the following:“Server data that is protected purely for the operation of the Commvault solution (CommServe® database, deduplication databases, CommServe LiveSync, etc.) will not consume instance-based, or capacity-based licensing. “Let’s say I run Commserve in ESXi host that is fully licensed for Commvault Per-Socket and want to use a standby Commserve in a physical device that does not have any Commvault license.I assume only “restores” will take place to the standby Commserve, and the SQL Agent license for the active Commserve will come from the license that covers the sockets for the hypervisor host. We will be adding a new VMWARE Envrioment V8 to our Commvault backup; we use Intellisnap backups at the moment, however, in V8 we are using Datastore Clusters; how does that impact Intellinsnap and would the process be same Adding Storge snapshot engine to Commvault Setup Subclient and use the snap engine however, would there be impact if say due to storage DRS a VM moves from one datastore to another. I have seen with Intellisnap (Nutanix) if you have a VM in 2 Datastore it fails the whole job; yet to runinto this senario with pure but how would this work?

Hi together,due to the necessary transition from Storage-Policy/Schedule-Policy to Plans, we are looking for a method to do bulk changes to the configuration (400x HANA, 500x Oracle, 100x Postgres ...).When we are using plan rules this seems to work, but in fact it does not. The plan rule is changing only the assignment for the subclient and not for the database instance.Example: Plan rule for Postgres should assign a derived planThe subclient is changed to the Derived Plan, the instance is not (completely) changed; here you find the Base-Plan that is “mentioned (sorry for this term, but configured would not be appropriate)” and the instance is listed as “not ready”.Qcommands (and therefore workflow) seem to have no interface to assign plans. So my question: How can I do a bulk change for database agents and assign a derived plan to the Subclient and the database instance?Thank you.Michael

I am trying to install on-prem backup gateway and connecting to Metallic but getting error. I have opened outbound communication ports from backend gateway to Metallic on these ports 443, 8400 and 8403.at the firewall, I can see traffic is using ports 443, 8400 and 8403. From this gateway I am able to access the URL https://metrics.metallic.io., but during the installation, it is not connecting to the Metallic. What ports need to allow apart from above to make the communication between on-prem gateway and Metallic.

Hi,i have a worm tape that was aged.I will catalog the tape. The tape is moved to media by group → catalog. Then i said → all tasks → catalog.the tape moved to the tape drive and catalog starts….but then nothing happens. 0%. After a while the tape moved out of the tape drive.Do i make a mistake? How can i catalog the tape for restore data? ThanksDennis

Hello,i’m trying to create a simple python script that permits to add an {‘excludePath’:  ‘/dir-a/dir-b/’} and {‘includePath’: ‘/dir-c/dir-e/log’ }  to  ‘content’: [{‘path’: ‘/’}]the problem seems to be the  subclient.update_properties( )   that doesn’t save to commvault. I can’t see the changes made in Webconsole or Java UI consoleAny idea ?
