Running v11.28It appears easy to turn on/activate, but since its “not enabled by default” (it appears...maybe someone turned it off?) I don’t know if it's going to cause any issues or require special considerations if I turn it on. So “reasons it’s not turned on by default” seem to elude me.Any reason not to turn on private metrics reporting? Do the reports using up a lot of disk space or memory/CPU for the “private metrics reporting server” (in my case: the commcell server)? Does it cause issues/extra config if you have LiveSync syncing a DR commserver?  Is there a list of reports or “big reasons to turn this on”? I have seen a few blank reports and the docs indicate I have to have metrics reporting on for them. I assume its just “can turn it on if wanted” and not any special software installations or services to manually turn on first or anything to enable it, aside from configuring this part in the java UI: control panel → Private Metrics Reporting → (click check boxes and follow co

we are trying to do OS upgrade the HSX from the existing 7.9 to 8.9 to be able to add additional new nodes (HSX ISO 3.2312) we tried to upgrade the OS using the Command center and CLI both showing upgrade completes successfully however the OS version is still 7.9 i used the below reference for the OS upgrade operation. https://documentation.commvault.com/2024/expert/installing_operating_system_updates_on_hyperscale_x_reference_architecture.html

i am trying to restore a vm in aws to on-premise, but i am not able to see the infrastructure in the vmware. discovery gives error, what is needed to be able to do a restore of this kind?

Hello! We want to use qlist command for Commvault jobs monitoring for telegraf. When we are using it from single host - it completed after 1-2 sec. When we are using it at one time from 10 hosts - we are waiting to 15 sec, and after 50 hosts - to 2-3 min. How does Commcerve handle such requests? Multistream or singlestream?  We are usung whish requestqlist jobhistory -c $CLIENT_NAME -a $AGENT_TYPE -st "$d2" -et "$d1" -js Completed -dispJobTimeUnix -tf /etc/telegraf/plugins.d/dbms/pgtf!--endfragment> 

Hello, Is it possible for commvault to generate a report of all the files backed up on a drive? example the D drive? including the size of the files or how about the top 50 or 100 largest files? If so can this be done through commcell or would it be better using the command center? Thanks for any help in advance

Hi All, i have an problem with my nutanix ahv vsa backup.  I git the message: Failed    Virtual machine [xyz] was not found. Please verify that the virtual machine still exists and that the host is in the connected state. If the virtual machine does not exist remove it from the subclient. If the virtual machine does exist reselect the virtual machine and re-add it to the subclient content.     When i do an browse i found ths maschines. Also under prism central the vms are up and running.  I created an test subclient with this vms but doesnt help.  Do you have an idear ?

HelloIs it possible to merge two clients with two different client identifiers?We installed two agents, File&System and SQL, on a server using the FQDN for both host name and display name. The server is run in Azure. “servername.domain.com”Then after a while we added that server to virtual backup. When we did this it ended up with just the name of the server as client identifier. “servername”.This resulted that we now have 2 clients in commcell for the same server. So the question is, can I use the Merge Clients workflow to merge them?Or is it to uninstall and reinstall to solve this?BRHenke 

Hi All,We have many clustered servers from VMWare and we are taking the backups for it with File System iDA.As we all know that Snapshot operation is not supported for Servers from VMWare having shared disks.We have an alternate option from VMWare to take snapshot that, making the shared disks as independent disks.Do we have any alternate options to take the Virtual Server Backup for the servers from VMware with Shared disks? Thanks in Advance.Warm Regards,Sravan Kondeti

Hi Commvault gurus! I would like to ask about the process of adding new Media Agents to an existing tape library storage pool. Let's assume the new Media Agent is physically attached to the tape library and everything is properly connected from a hardware perspective. Do we need to deconfigure and reconfigure the tape library in the Commvault Console? I can't find an option to add a new Media Agent to the existing tape storage pool, unlike the process for adding a Media Agent to an existing disk storage pool. Any input will be much appreciated!

Hi Everybody,I have a question about migration of Hyper-V virtual maschines that are backed up via Acronis Cloud. We want to restore this machines from the Acronis backup directly to our vCenter with Commvault.Is this possible and how to realize it?For my understanding I have to install the Acronis virtual machine agent and the Commvault virtual machine agent on the same vCenter. The Acronis agent is needed to restore and migrate the backed up virtual machines directly to the vCenter and the Commvault virtual machine agent is needed for the backup of the virtual machines with Commvault.But is this possible to install both agents on the same vCenter or I’m completely on the wrong way?Best Regards

Hi all,I have the follwing issue. We are using CommVault extensively to backup our iSeries LPAR. However, we notice that on the big libraries tha incremental backups take the same time or even longer than the full. And it seems to backup far less objects.Anyone has an idea?

Hi,When trying to restore off tapes from 4 years ago, we get the following message: MSGID 0x0e0000f4 failed to initalize browse request, check browse.log on commserve for more details. The last 2 restores we can do a browse and restore from however nothing from the time period of 4 years ago. The last 2 weekly’s (30th of August and 3rd of August) we can browse it no problem. However the 16th of August errors the same as the error from 4 years ago. It seems to be random.Lost and not sure what to do.RegardsMuhammed

Hi All,- CommServe CS1 primary backup local disk DL1- aux copy to second tape, encryption setup Direct Media Access with No Access Q1. same Commserve CS1 if require catalog the tape for some reason, could allow catalog?Q2. if use media explorer with same Commserve CS1, could allow catalog the media using Media Explorer? Best regards
