Hi Team,We are using 11.32 version with CS/MA/VSA on same 1132.59.We have Redhat Openstack configured as Hypervisor.We maintain minimum 10-20% free space in storage for snapshot during backups.We observed there is one Instance with Volumes attached of size 10TB.it is strange that Backup job is looking for 20TB free space on the storage for taking snapshot.Is this requirement of Openstack or requirement of Commvault ? It does not make sense why it needs twice the size of Volumes for snapshots.Evidence is attached. Can this be check with Commvault development team ? I can raise a case if that is needed.But support asks logs and other stuff which takes long time.I just need confirmation from CV if this is normal?  

CSDB restore from media explorer on HPE catalyst?We are using hpe catalyst library and DR storage policy is configured to write to HPE catalyst.If in case of disaster how do we recover most recent backup using media explorer.https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/retrieval_of_disaster_recovery_dr_backups_from_storage.htmlI dont see such option in BoL.Please advise. Even though command center shows the HPE storonce as cloud we cannot run cloudtesttest on this storage I believe,

Hi! We trying to create a Recovery Point to recover a specific e-mail but the job fails after a couple of seconds. We do see a “ Error Code [655362] returned - [Error decrypting password]. “ in the logs. Not sure what password is referenced here. It concerns a intellisnap snapshot which is available on the storage. Has anyone seen this error before?

I am unable to see any access node drop-down list on the “add the cloud account” page while adding the Azure SQLMI database to Commvault. CV version  - 10.34.26

Hi there,Do we have any blocker to prevent to use Linux as Media Agent (MA) or Access Node (AN)? Currently we have some Windows MA & Windows AN and want to migrate them to Linux. I'm not sure about Linux server can do backup / restore job for all type of resource like Windows or we have some dedicated config only work on Windows? 

Hello Community Members. We are using Commvault IntelliSnap with Infinidat storage. Everything works fine except the device cleanup on the Linux hosts. Most of the hosts are getting alerts for path failure and IO errors at the end of the IntelliSnap backup while the unmap and device cleanup is performed.   We did check the difference between the servers which are not alerting, and which are alerting.  The main difference we can see in the IntelliSnap log is about “ISHDM IntelliSnap Linux Host Device Manager”. But I can’t get any explanation about ISHDM on Commvault site or on RedHat. Can you guys help me to understand what does this value /settings does better than normal “classic OS utility interface” If the above setting is not related to IO error/ path error / device cleanup, please let me know if someone experienced these types of issues on Linux hosts while performing IntelliSnap backup.  Logs found on the server with no IO error / path error. 3724588 38d52c 09/04 19:45:21 1701177

Hi Community,when I read the documentation for best practices for SMTP journaling, i found that it is recommended to use one journal  contact for not duplicating the journal reports, also it is recommended to have 2 ContentStore Mail Server (SMTP)  for high availability and load balancing.so is that means that i have to create 2 SMTPs with 1 common journal contact?if no, how commvault will connect the 2 SMTPs together?

Hello Community,Recently, we connected an FC HBA 3660 StoreOnce appliance to our Commvault v11.32 backup server. The catalyst store on the StoreOnce is configured for low bandwidth, meaning the backup server (media agent) performs deduplication and compression, sending only new data to the StoreOnce.We have created a storage pool that uses StoreOnce as the backup target, followed by a storage policy based on the StoreOnce storage pool.However, it appears that Commvault, by default, disables deduplication and compression on the storage policy.Could anyone advise on how we can enable the deduplication and compression? As StoreOnce is configured for low bandwidth, we want the backup server (media agent) to handle deduplication and compression, rather than StoreOnce.Thank you,

 Hello community, I have some questions about KMIP integration at customer side The customer wants to encrypt the primary copy and the secondary copy it is a KMIP cluster but the spof here is on the VPN.what happens if the KMIP servers are not able to reach the commserve the customer wants to block the ability to restore from our MSP site (critical content), how to perform that, RBAC ? What is the best practice to backup to KMIP Servers ?have any of you already implemented this kind of solution? Thanks !

Hello Commvault Community!,I have a question in the name of one of our client.We have created a Cloud Library (Azure Archive) - and copied around 40TB of data into the Cloud.It tooks us over 2 months to transfer this amount of data, when it completes we then realize that there is a problem with Cloud Recall workflow - when we try to “Browse and Restore” from CopyPrecedense (Azure Archive) - It is trying to reach an Index from this archive cloud (it runs a job “Index Restore” and it can’t find index data because it is archive storage, so it runs a Archive Recall workflow to recall an index data to be able to list the backup data - this worlflow fails after few seconds and we can find an error in Browse and restore window: “The index cannot be accessed. Try again later. If the issue persists, contact support.”.We decided that restoring an index from archive cloud isn’t good idea, because even if it would work - it would take too much time (few hours just to list backup content (index res

I want to use GridStor technology, but I don’t want to use NFS or SMB. I am looking for a solution where I can share the mount path between two Media Agents (MA). If MA1 is offline, MA2 should still be able to perform backup and restoration. I have researched this and am considering deploying a Linux cluster with Pacemaker, Corosync, and OCFS2. My question is whether OCFS2 is supported by Commvault.

In Metallic , if we are backing up only teams channel data then it seems that same data is also there in sharepoint.Because , at the backend its stored in a SharePoint Site created for that.Can somebody confirm this ? if we stop backing up teams channel then we can restore the same file from SharePoint also, provided we don’t need “Posts” backup. 

hello guys,, i’ve problem when try to run intellisnap backup to Hitachi storage,, the error seems like this below :   fyi, i’ve already configure the storage on array management.. but the erroe messages, tell failed to get array info..  maybe some has experience about it and know how to solve the issues 

Hyperv Backups failed      Failure Reason: Virtual machine (abc) disks are not accessible. Ensure that the access node (VSA proxy) can read the source VM disks.  we are added Groups as access nodes on properties of Hyperv and those 2 groups are belongs to 2 clusters in hyperv .when ever schedule backup got triggered it will pickup wrong VSA as a Backup agent and its failling with subjected error. if i add manually those VSA proxies  in subclient level properties as a access nodes then backups are completing and working fine . how to eliminate this wrong allocation of VSA while backup , i hope commvault should figureout the correct host and VSA allocation , if not correct me  and please advice how we can overcome and i would like to use group level association of VSA on node on properties tab instead of subclient level. Thanks in Advance!!

We have encountered an unexpected change in the target media name for SQL server backups on our Commvault Metallic environment. The media name has been changed from "CommVault Galaxy Backup" to "commvault.backup". This change has disrupted our existing backup status scripts, which were designed based on the original media name. Appreciate if anyone provide more information on this? 

Hello community,I just tried to create a plan via the Command Center. Apparently you can enter everything as usual but when I want to complete the creation there is no response. So it doesn't switch to the overview of the plans. If I then go back manually, I see the created plan in the list with the status "Incomplete". I can't explain the problem at the moment and have therefore attached the logs from the WebServer.log and a screenshot. Has anyone here had this problem before and can possibly help me?Version 11.32.59 is used.Unfortunately I can't say whether the problem has only been there since the update to this version or whether it existed before. Hi Commvault experts, I would like to ask how to change the active library controller for the tape library. Of course, I have reviewed the documentation (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.16/library_properties_configuration.html), but it wasn’t helpful in our case. Our new Media Agents have access to the shared SAN tape library, they can access all drives, and even auxiliary jobs are running through them. Unfortunately, we are unable to change the Active Library Controller under Tape Library → Properties → Library Controller → Change, because our new Media Agents are not listed there. What are we missing? In the Device Manager on the server's operating system, we can see all tape drives. So what could be wrong?

I’m interested to know what other Commvault users doing with VM’s that fail to QUIESCE a VM during the backup. We have approx 300 each day that appear on the health report. Many of these are appliances and VM’s where VMTools does not support the OS. For these I was thinking of creating separate subclients that do not attempt the QUIESCE. However, for the others they seem to be intermittent issues so guessing they might be busy periods for the VM;s in question.  I’m just intrigued to understand how other customers deal with QUIESCE issues. 

I want to know, about this topic, there is only support to rhel 7 and CentOS?I have MA with Oracle Linux 8; Shared SAN Data Server - System Requirements for Fibre Channel (commvault.com)
