Hi Everyone, We Currently have Commvault commserv (All VMware Environment) targeted to HyperScale appliances. However, HyperScale 1300 is EOL/EOS. We have a spare HP MSA 2050 SAN storage available and require your advise before we configure it as a library.As HP MSA being an entry level storage, is it recommended to be used as target library even though disk speed are 7k for HyperScale and HP MSA? Would there be performance issues as storage needs to mounted to additional server server to be used over 10 gig network as VMware does not have SFPs? Would configuring backups on HP-MSA give us same dedeuplcation ratio as that of HyperScale appliances ?
Is there way can we edit the Customized RPM Package ( like Commserve hostname or clienthostname)
Just wanting a warm fuzzy on this setting…as we have been upgrading Commvault since v9...We have CacheMFTRecs added and set = 1 on all our Virtual Server proxy servers via several “Client Groups” that explicitly add it. The documentation (https://documentation.commvault.com/additionalsetting/details?name=%22CacheMFTRecs%22&id=2163) indicates “For Version 10 Service Pack 6A and higher, this key is enabled by default.”. We are on SP11, but I’m not seeing the setting set in the “Advanced settings” (It’s not even there to select) if I make a new Virtual Server proxy group.Question: So would it be ok to remove the CacheMFTRecs additional setting from the client groups, as “set by default” means its internally set to 1 inside the … errr...Virtual Server client or something... and not “set by default means “it is set by default inside a default client proxy group”? It feels like after Version 10 Service Pack 6A and higher, you would only manually add this to a virtual server proxy client
I think the answer’s probably no, but I feel like I need to ask this anyway:We recently discovered that a content filter was missed on one subclient while configuring the Commvault agent on a database server, which caused the file system agent to back up an extra ~1.5TB of non-deduped data nightly for several months. New nightly backups shrank considerably after we caught the oversight and set the appropriate filter, but not before Commvault wrote around 120TB of redundant Oracle database backups to disk that won’t begin to age out until sometime next year.I know we can go in and manually expire those jobs to immediately free up space on our long term storage, but is there a way to apply the content filter to that subclient retroactively so that we can expire the just the 120TB or so that should have been excluded from the start, while keeping everything else?

Hello all!I am wondering if there is a way to check “storage” on servers, which are a part of backup in Commvault.Reason: In our company - we as a backup team does not have direct access to hosts, and sometimes it took ages to find someone responsible for server to do some checks…Quesion:If there is File System agent installed on server - is there a way to check things like “total size, consumed space, free space”? On both Linux and Windows machines?It would help us a lot, especially while restoring out of place DBs.I am asking because i have found that Oracle agent is doing some checks while preparing restore:I have like thousands of ideas how it could improve our quality of work...Any ideas?Thanks!

Hello, guys I want to perform a secondary copy to tape, and be able to write the data to tow tapes at once, Same data must be written to tow different tapes that belong to two different pools (main pool and copy pool). The idea is to be able to have mirroed data on tapes that will be stored on different sites (customer policy). Data must be read once from primary store (source) and write at same time to diferent tapes.Customer has a library with 3 drives. Any idea?Regards.

Recently I have noticed that a number of our Postgress backups have their log file backups writing to a different Storage Policy from the data backups. If I change the log file backups to the same Storage Policy as the Data backups will this cause any problems.
HiI noticed in the documentation a note about the lack of Commvault support for Table level restores.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/20248_configuring_oracle_subclients_for_table_level_restores.html “If you use Oracle 12c or a more recent version, you can only use this procedure for databases that are not Container Databases (CDB). To restore tables in Container Databases, you must use the RMAN command line.” Are there any plans to support this via the GUI going forwards? Container Databases have been a feature in oracle for over a decade now.
Hi I am trying to change physical disk for the Commvault HyperScale X 2.x node. Hi Everyone! I am looking to see if there is anyone else that is backing up Microsoft AG clusters with nodes that are hosted in different geographical DCs? We have the MSQL AG client configured at the moment to backup to “PLAN - DC1” but when the DBA’s failover the cluster to another node, the backups are being transfered across the WAN from “DC2” to “DC1” Should we not configure the backups using the AG for these DBs and confgure them on the clusters nodes instead and configure the storage polices to point to the Commvault Plan for that site or is there another option? Requesting your assistance as we are experiencing an error in the Commvault console when attempting to query devices that do not have Commvault installed. This process was previously done through Active Directory. Greetings all I have a customer who decomissioned Commvault a few months back and they now need to recover some data.The Commserve and Media Agents were deleted.We intend to restore the last DR_SET backup that was taken to create a new Commserve and a new Media Agent (Linux).The Library was configured as a NFS share and that backup data is still available in the cloud provider’s infrastructure.In order to access the mount path, do I just share it in the ‘Sharing’ tab on the original Media Agent’s properties and then add the data path in the Storage Policy copy (wasn’t the primary copy). The DDB is on longer available, but we wouldn’t need it just for restores.We’re only restoring File System Data. Is there anything else I need to consider? Thanks,Mauro

Do we support Iron Cloud Archive Storage = Secure Offline Storage (S0S)? How is the data recalled? BOL lists Iron Mountain under supported Cloud Storage, but doesn't have any detail on supported tiers, such as SoS.
