Customer contacted us saying they saw a File system backup job “Completed with errors”.Found in job history details that 5-6 objects failed due to “access is denied”.I mentioned this to the customer, and it appears the failed objects are folders that were deleted 3 days ago.I guess Commvault is running some kind of indexing before a backup job starts(?), but I don’t know why it still “sees” the deleted folders during indexing or backup..?Can I force update the index somehow? Is this even caused by a problem with index?(Since the folders were deleted there has been 2 Completed with errors with reference to the same folders. I suspect the backup today will be the same..)

Hello,I created a selective copy that shoud copy yearly Fulls to tape. it is scheduled to be executed on January 2025 to copy the last fulls of December 2024 But something is not clear for me. Based on the configuration and what I understand,all the last full backups that will be performed on December 2024 should be copied to tape at launch via the schedule policy. (expected on January 2025) Here is the detailed configuration Storage Policy Copies : Storage Policy Copy Properties [General] Storage Policy Copy Properties of [Selective Copy] Schedule policy Why on this copy, I see that is on the Media Not CopiedWhen I click on Media Not copied, I see that some media needs to be copied from the Primary even if we are not at the end of the year 2024 and the schedule doesn’t happen yet (schedule is planned for January 2025 to copy last full of December 2024) Media Not copied list Detail of V_30450 Detail of V_30450I see that some jobs are waiting for copy but that jobs have been run on 2
Hello,is there an easy way to find out copies in storage policies that are not scheduled? It is easy to find clients with “No schedule” but this option is not available for auxcopies.Thank you., Regards,Thomas
I am planning on implementing 2FA (probably with Microsoft Authenticator) on my Commserve (not Metallic). Has anyone done this and are there any “gotcha’s” I need to be aware of. I would only want 2FA for domain users not my local commvault admin account. Thanks

Hi Techies, We have 11.32.49 and its job controller do not show correct job status / progress in Java console. Sometime it will update real-time, sometime 20 to 30 minutes delay. Thought we have open a support case and awaiting RCA. In the meantime, I am sure many of you have come across similar issues. This problem that I explained above is with all types of jobs. In fact library space also messed up badly.

We’re considering changing our storage retention policy from 1 year to something less than that and we’d like to know how much storage we’d reclaim by making this change *before* making this change (to see if its even worth it). Is there a report that could tell us this? Or how could we best gauge the effects on our back-end storage of changing our storage retention policy from one year to, say, six months?

Hi all, is it possible to age/reset the password for a commvault user immediately?I only find the possibility to set the age value to ‘1’. ‘0’ is not allowed I think…So is there a way to force the user to enter a new password with the next login like a domain user with the option “User must change password at next logon”?Many thanks and regardsSkoomer

Hello I’m working on an application to capture all clients in an environment and assess their backup status. So far I’m getting stuck on capturing all the clients in the environment. Good dayI”m busy configuring the download center for endpoint package installs. I’ve created the repository using the Web Server options and then added the packages as required and synchronised them.When creating a laptop user and having the invite link sent to them, the below page opens up with no packages published. If the user navigates to the Webconsole and to the Download Centre, the packages are listed. Ideally I’d prefer the above page to be populate, but not sure when I’m missing?
First full backup copy is partially copied to secondary copy, DASH is enabled, tried to recopy those jobs but steams will pick up the job id’s after sometime we see the network errors. Please provide solution to fix it.Note : Auxiliary copy is running over internet link.

Does anyone know how to retire an Index/Analysis Server that contains roles? I can get all of the roles to remove except the last one. I also just attempt to right-click on the Index Server entity and choose Delete, but it says that it is associated to DC Plans [ODA_DCPLAN_8534] and to remove the connection and try again. We only have 2 plans - Threat Analysis and FSO. There is no association or relationship I can find in the Command Center to either plan let alone any other backup plans. All I want to do is delete the Index Server I created - there isn’t any data on it. It had another node on it at one time, but I also removed that from the configuration hoping to tear it down one piece at a time. Please help! Very frustrating. We are running Windows Server 2022 on the CS and FSO/Threat Analysis on the 2 Index Servers. These servers are VMs.
Hi thereWe have Commvault 11.28.102 and have just added a tape library.Under STORAGE\Tape I managed to add the tape, but when I go to slots I can see there that my brand new Tape is marked as Bad Media and the reason that I got is Write Protected.Please advise.Thank you
