Hi Team, I am doing restore of particular mount point of linux server.  I have selected the guest files and folder option for restore. I clicked on the server and getting below error while browsing. Browse failed due to error while mounting virtual machine: FREL mount failed:  (CV.0x5).  Can you please suggest here.

Hi, We are in the process of decommissioning our Commvault Server e.g. firstly P2V it, then, power the VM off and leave it somewhere. Giving that, in the future, the only occasion we might need to power on the VM is to check its configuration setting, therefore, am I to say that we do not need to P2V its storage disk pools which are shown as MagLib in the below screenshot ? Thanks,Kelvin

Hi Everyone, we need to create a lot of VM Groups in Commvault with different Plans and Rules (eg “Tag eq XX AND Tag eq YY”). This could be done by REST-API we noticed. But we also need to give this new VM Group a Security permissions with different Group and Role. We did not find a scripting way to get this done adding the security permissions for a vm group. Has someone a hint or idea where to look or has someone a “one or two liner” for this problem? Many thanks. Steffen

Hi Team,we planned to upgrade the commserve from sp24 to sp28 and the sql installed on the commserve is sql 2014. will sql2014 work after we upgrade our commserve to sp28 ? 

I have couple of questions related to VM UUID we have huge amounts of VM backups, we were cross-checking whether UUID is getting matched on both commvault and vmware end. some of the UUID Are same but some are different, Same UUID VM are not restored VM’s so not sure why this diffrence is happening Is it possible to pull the report using API or something which shows the VM details with UUID from commvault end ? 

HiWe have created a plan for a VADP VMware backup.We want to run the Vcenter backup during the day, and do not want to created a new plan just for the Vcenter backup. We created a subclient voor the Vcenter servers and added a different schedule using the Java console. I have added the new schedule to the Subclient holding the Vcenter servers.This works fine but I cannot remove the Predefined Server Plan Schedule that comes with plan.Any ideas?

Hi all, In Documentation: https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/17098_configuring_consistency_checks_for_exchange_database_backups.html The following line is written: “If any errors are detected, they are fixed before the database is backed up.”. This has striggered the Exchange administrator at one of our customers. He would like to know what/how this “fix” takes place. What can i tell him? Is it a specific Exchange instruction that gets called or something? Thanks!

Hi all, An Exchange Administrator has read in Microsoft Windows Server backup documentation (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/high-availability/disaster-recovery/restore-with-windows-server-backup?view=exchserver-2019) that restoring a single database in-place to a volume which hosts multiple databases is not possible. Instead, all databases on the volume will be restored. Now I have told him that with Commvault, it actually is possible to recover a single database in-place to a volume which hosts multiple databases and only the selected database is recovered. Was I correct in saying that? I’m pretty convinced I am. :-) If possible, I would like to be able to tell the customer what we do differently to make this possible. Do we use a different method/API? And which, then? Any information available on this? Thanks in advance!

after setting up the policy to backup active directory, i am getting index errors when it try to do a full backup or any backup of the active directory, all my other backups are working fine such as the file backups and vcenter backups. 

Hi let me ask four question in here from japan. (1) Can we Use Salesforce backup in multiple environments without any problems?　 If there are problems or something we need to consider, please point out.Also, is it possible to restore by linking with a system other than Salesforce? (2) I would like to receive detailed information on the object comparison and metadata comparison of the SalesForce backup function.Could you give me the information of the document or the web? (3) How long  is the maximum length of time that can be specified as a backup retention period?Also, is it possible to store backups that have exceeded their retention period separately so that they are not lost? (4)What industries does Metallic sell to?And what industries are selling Salesforce Backup licenses to?Kind Regards

Hello Community,A customer wants to back up data from CAS (content-addressed storage) like centerra or ECS.I understanding CAS buckets are accessed by PEA file so commvault need to use same authentication. In this BOL, seems centerra CAS is supported as backend disk target but no documentation for CAS or centerra as source.https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/9505_centera_clusters.html I want to get the confirmation if this is supported or not. Has anyone done this with commvault?

Hello Commvault Community, When we try to restore out of place data from Microsoft DFS servers, we get a message that some files cannot be restored. "Reparse points failed to be restored as this is an out-of-place restore. Please check the restore result for more details " We want to find out from which logs we can find which files weren’t restored when restoring DFS data to a server not covered by DFS replication. If we need to increase the logging level, for which logs? Thanks&Regards,Kamil

HI all,I am oracle DBA and new to CommVault. Currently, using oracle RMAN with ( RMAN catalog DB) to backup all oracle database to tape.Management want to ditch RMAN and use CommVault as a standard Oracle backup tool.I have read CommVault documentation, to backup oracle db, an Oracle Agent has to be installed on the Oracle DB server.My question, without using RMAN/RMAN catalog, how does Commvault keep track of multiple database incarnations of an Oracle Database in the case DB needs to be restored to a past point before the resetlog e.g.DB been flash backed to a pt in time in the past and thus need to open resetlog ( new incarnation).  an incomplete restore performed on the DB and thus need to open resetlog ( new incarnation)

Hi All,we have made a configuration for eDiscovery in our Endpoint backup environment. And we are able to run content indexing job and see the results. But the results are for live endpoint data, not the endpoint backup data. Does anybody have knowledge; what should be done so that endpoint backup data is indexed rather than endpoint live data? regards. 

Hi,Looking at the Index Backup Report, I see there are several index backups that has a value of “None” listed under the “Protected Backup Jobs” column.Is there something that’s not configured correctly? I would not like to retain these jobs on secondary copy if it’s not needed.Thanks for the insight!

So I configured verification for all of my storage policies, and I see that in the job views (after adding the Data Verification Status column) the status of either Picked for verification or Successful.  I’d like to get a report that will send me any unsuccessful verifications.  I havent used the report builder much, so just looking for either a canned report that CV has or some instruction on the best way to build this report.  Thanks.

We have a Database Index Fragmentation message in our Health Check. If I want to run a DB maintenance run -full, it is recommended to deactivate the scheduler. Are there any experience reports, how long such a maintenance run could run ? 

Hi!We recently had an issue that led to the Exchange admins reinstalling the Exchange hosts. Once they were installed, i installed the commvault agent again, but i’m running into an issue that i’ve been unable to solve so far.It’s a small exchange environment with only 2 virtual exchange servers.What i do know is that during the re-installation of the exchange servers, according to the exchange admin, one of the two were originally installed with one name, before they were renamed, and then exchange was installed..  However in Commvault i’m running into an issue where if i do a “Check Readiness”, both the servers says they are ready, while the DAG-client complains. Further research into logfiles led me to the cvfwd.log files, where i see references to both the current name, and the name one of the servers temporarily had, before exchange was installed/configured, and this seems to cause the tunnels between the “components” to terminate, causing communication issues. Example: 18028 9e64

Hi,we backup our vSphere VMs with virtual File Agent.Our Version is 11.28.44.In order to restore individual files or folders, the backup must be in the B2D area or is it also possible from tape?RegardsDennis
