I am looking for an offsite copy solution. My environment consists of 2 media servers and 1 CommServe in a virtual environment, with Exagrid as backend storage. Is it possible to zone the tape library with the Virtual Media Agent servers? If so, could you please share the process?

Hi,I have configured VMware backup jobs weekly 6 days incremental and one day Synthetic full backup job.But i can see only incremental jobs without synthetic full.  Commvault running version - 11.32. Please advise how to perform synthetic full in job level.

Hello Community, I’m currently migrating a old Commserve to a new hardware, which has different host name and IP settings, also with CommServe upgrading (11.28 → 11.34). So I have folllowed this page for the hardware refreshing: https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/commserve_upgrade_with_hardware_refresh_overview.htmlI used Recovery Assistant Tool when setting up the CommServe database on new hardware. Now it works fine. The problem is when copying backup files (CV_MAGNETIC) from old machine to new one, the size of file has expanded a lot (5TB → 10TB) on disk. I assume this is bacuase of using DDB.  I have also copied the DDB content (CV_SIDB folder and icl_label.txt file) to the new machine, but with different drive letter(D:\SIDB → E:\SIDB). My questions are:What is the best way to set up the DDB in new machine? Can I reclaim the disk space after the DDB is running fine?Thanks!

Commvault docs say “If the mount path move job fails or is killed, you need to manually clean the data that was copied to the destination mount path.”Would not “Clean orphan data” do the cleaning?

Hi Community,I want to know where deduplication happens in a Global deduplication storage policy?Client side or Media agent side or both?if both, then if the encryption is enabled how it dedupes? i know that the encryption happens in a way Compress > Dedupe > Encrypt .If the encryption enable in agent side, the agent do Compress > Dedupe > Encrypt and send data to media agent. does the media agent decrypts data to dedup again or send the data as it is to Disk lib? 

Hello,Our Comcell is running at 11.34 and we are palnning to upgrade it to the latest LTS platform release  ( 2024E - 11.36 ).For some reason, 11.36 does not show on the downlownd software drop-down list. Only 11.34 & 11.28. Any idea what could be the reason for that ? Thanks

Hello,I am currently running BMR 1-Touch recovery tests, but I have a problem when rebooting the client. It remains stuck on the button with a circle that spins to infinity.I use Commvault version 11.32.65 and ISO 1Touch_REL11_32_63_WinPE10_x64.The client is a Lenovo P5 with a Windows 10. It has a two partitions and disk has no RAID.I did 1-Touch recovery tests with a Windows Server 2019 on the machine and didn’t encounter any problems.Backups and restores do not report errors on the Commserve and go all the way.It looks like it is Windows 10 that is problematic while System Requirements, it is indicated that this OS is supported.

Hello!We have a site that is being decomissioned and I need to work a bit on it’s backups.The site is using a derivated stg plan.Usually when I do this I remove the schedule from the client in the java conole but since this is part of a plan I am not able to do that. So instead I went into Command Center and dissacotiated the client from the plan. It works, no more schedule, however when I look at the client and the default subclient, the destination storage policy is gone (from java console).Doing a browse for backup history I see the history. To me it seems odd and a bit missleading. My next step is to promote the secondary copy to primary and delete the former primary copy and library. Only way I can see this done is from the Java console, or is there a way to do it in Command center? 

After upgrading from 11.28.66 to 11.32.6, the command center dashboard backup summary report is showing no data available and also has an error “bad request, please check the parameters”

Hello folks,This message appears when we enter the commserver. We would like to know why it has been activated. Has it been activated automatically? What are the consequences? Can it be deactivated?I have read the documentation but it is not very clear to us.Does anyone know any more information about this?Regards.

Dear Experts,our objective is to restore a table from Source_PDB to Destination_PDB via Import functionality provided by CommVault. Setup: CommServe Version 11.32.49; Source_ and Destiantion_CDB are both Oracle 19.22.  The Destination_CDB was set up according to CommVault documentation. The Destination_CDB and Source_CDB are both included to be in tnsnames.ora on either sides. Remote crosswise sqlplus-connect is working from both sides.  In Commvault-GUI we did: Commcell → Client_Computers → select Source_Client →  right-click Oracle Source-CDB → select All Tasks → select Browse And Restore → select Table View + set Time Range + End Time (select Date and PointInTime)→  View Content → Select table and its dependent tables from the respective schema in the Source_PDB → Recover All Selected …In the window “Table Restore Options for Clients Source_CDB_Client SID: Source_CDB”  in the Tab “General” : Set Destination Client  Destination_Client_Name;Set Use Oracle Settings from Auxiliary CDB;C

I would like to create a secondary copy of tape backups to aux copy existing tape Archive backups to a newly configured AWS cloud library. Hi CV Support, Is there any release notes for 11.36 which outlines new features in 11.36 when compared to previous release?I reached frontline on support portal, but they said there is no such link or document. I see release notes for other backup vendors, not sure why it is not available for World’s top Backup product. I believe every Commvault Customer’s deserve to know what is new features in new release. I know documentation is available, but no one can read complete BoL just to know the new features in release.

Hi,We’re running ver: 11.32.6 since a week back.Now we’re getting the following error for one of our MA’s.“Error Code: [13:244]Description: [Media write operation failure] [Dedupe disk media] [There is not enough space on the disk.]Source: xxxx, Process: cvd” When I check disk we’ve got a bit over 2.2TB free space on disk which equals to 56% free disk. 

Can anyone point me to a graph that shows what these color/designs mean in the Client Storage Utilization by Storage Policy?  Each one represents a client and I cant find anything depicting what they represent.  

We’ve been using disk libraries on our offsite DR mediaagent for years now. We only store the last week of changed data in it in case of absolute disaster (we store a year’s worth of changes on our on-prem mediaagent).Our office just got a large amount of S3-compatible storage and gave us a path to it. I successfully added a new “S3-compatible” cloud library to my commserve and I can see it (a single mount path, vs the 50 mount paths my disk library has, going to each disk).My goal is to change my existing Storage Policy settings, the policy called “SSCC Auxilary Copy” so that it stops using the disk library, and starts using the Cloud library for all future Aux copies.I went into the properties of the Storage Policy and I see the tab “Data Paths” that only contains a single item, with the correct MediaAgent02 listed, and the current disk library, just also named “MediaAgent02” - I think this is what has to be changed. Hi all!On our Windows Media Agents i noticed that there are two Commvault Services installed where the startup type is set to “manual”.Commvault VSS Provider Service Commvault VSS Hardware Provider ServiceDoes that mean that CV will only start these services as needed? When are those services needed?Is there a Service description for WIndows on what each service does in general?Thanks in advance for any input.

Good day! I’ve got some strange problem. After upgrade from 11.28 to 11.32.69 database backups stopped working with errorError Code: [19:1942]Description: The RBS Store Client option is not selected. Please configure it and resubmit the job.We are using BLOB storage in content database. MS RBS.msi is installed and configured on SharePoint server (before upgrade backups worked fine). Now I can’t find where to enable RBS Store Client option.I’ve tried to create new subclient, reinstall agents on SharePoint server with now luck. Could anyone direct me, where can I enable this option?Thanks in advance.

Hello guys,is there an equivalent available for Plans, like available for Storage Policies, where I can use a different target for transactionlogs and archive logs, when assigning a StoragePolicy to a subclient or instance. ?I formerly used NonDedup Storage Policies as a transaction log Policy linked into the Dedup Storage Policy used for database backups.When associating a dabase storage policy, the correct NonDedup policy has been automatically assigned to the transactionlog part of instance or sublient configuration.Cannot find it in plans and having problems when trying to assign them using plan rules.(currently running on 11.32.73)RgdsKlaus

Hi,we create new client (Exchange DAG) and the discovery works fine. But one of the member servers found was not available. I can select olny of them. Our AD User accout is correctly configured. Any ideas? Thank you.
