I checked the start time for VM backup, and it was one day earlier than scheduled time.On the backup job history, it is showing me the exact schedule time but if i go the VM machine status the backup start time showing me one day earlier. Attached the snap for reference. 

Hello Team,Please help, I’m planning to migrate MA (windows) with following steps.1.Launch new server with installing MA software. and assigning same hostname ,new IP address.2.Detach all mount path drives and DDB drives, attach the same in new server3.Disconnect old server from the network.4.check all services and process running on new MA5.Map the respective LUNs, ( DDBs, Index Cache, Library) also make sure you are using the same drive letters while moving the contents on new server. Is this method good to move forward , if any other steps please suggest.  Regards,Samuel    

Hi,I have set the retention settings of the storage policy as 1 day and 0 cycle.Took a backup of the VM client into the HCP S3 Based object storage.Post retention expiry, the data aging job should delete off the data from HCP and HCP-CS cloud libraries.But the data (chunk folders and chunks) still resides on the HCP buckets and the deletion is not happening. Any suggestions please.

Hi all, Before I raise a ticket, trying to reproduce it, I want to check here if someone ever experienced the same.This is the case back-up data is save on 3 copies Primary (disk) → Synchronous (disk)→ Selective (tape)The Synchronous job is used as as source for the tape copy.The Synchronous copy has the option “Pick data from running job” enables (well had)This was disabled as we saw that the Selective copy also started to copy the data that still was being copied to the Synchronous copy (job-ids had the status partially copied). This is strange, because that option is not there in the SPc.And you do not want this, because the fact data is going to tape but more important, the jobs should be become marked as “With errors” in de Synchronous copy and therefor not copied but instead the next job closed to the selective rules. Did anyone ever experienced the same and knows the reason/solution? Thanks,

Hello, We have backup server CommServe  Simpana version 11.28.68 on Windows Server 2022 Standard. We migrated recently backup server Commserve on new hardware using Hardware refresh method (we migrated from simpana version 11.20.85 to simpana version 11.28.68). We used CSrecovery tool and successfully restored and upgraded the database. Now, We have problem with Browse and Restore all virtual machine (Citrix XenServer ).When we choose Browse and Restore Options dialog box-> Guest Files and Folders -> View ContentWe get this messages on screen:MsgId[0x0e000105][Browse failed due to error while mounting virtual machine: Client htm-mediaagent1 can not attach service in 10.16.18.56*ca-lma01*8400*8402. Please address communication issue between this two clients..]: [4] Args Pushed, [1] Args expected.We used Ca-lma01  for File Recovery Enabler for Linux server, and Mediagent htm-mediaagent1.Best regards,Elizabeta

We have a two-node SQL-Cluster with 10 SQL-Instances, load-balanced over the nodes.Currently we fail to set up the backup. Only the instances running on node A are passing the backup successful. Hi,we have a requirement to restore a list of files (about 1000) from a NDMP Backup (EMC Isilon). The files to be restored are randomly distributed in the file system structere. Is there a possibility to do a restore based on a source file? We have a CSV with Files to be restore (.\path\filename.ext)Or should we better use the “restore-CvClientFileSystem” command?thanks in advance for your help.Alex

I have a query for deduplication which is enabled when creating a storage policy.The partition path was chosen as a single partition path on a media-agent drive.I took a Full backup of a VM and it wrote some chunks in the HCP S3 Storage.Re-took the same backup again and it wrote more chunks in the HCP S3 Storage even though there wasn’t any change of the “VM content”. How does deduplication play a role here?

Hi Team,I have deconfigured the tape library and reconfigured as new due to some issues with library. Now around 600 barcode details are there under old tape library associated media group. How to move or copy those into new library. I can do the media rotation with the details only. Kindly help me ASAP.

Recently I have noticed that a number of our Postgress backups have their log file backups writing to a different Storage Policy from the data backups. If I change the log file backups to the same Storage Policy as the Data backups will this cause any problems.

Need to Rename Client Hostname in Commserve console in bulk, around 1500 clients

We have a customer with a number of Oracle RAC instances. The backups are configured to a plan to run at 20:00 every night with Archive logs to run hourly.What we’ve noticed is that when the DB schedule starts, the Archive logs do at the same time. One of the two jobs on the same DB (DB backup/Archive log) will go into a waiting state. When one job finishes, the ‘waiting’ job won’t initiate. You need to suspend and resume it. It seems that something in that process (RMAN?) doesn’t seem to automatically initialise.There are a few things I’ve configured which have helped, but not totally solved the issue.I’ve enabled the option to ‘queue jobs if other conflicting jobs are active’ in the client’s Job Configuration tab.Is there anything else I can set to allow the jobs to not get stuck in this state and if they do, to auto restart?Thanks,Mauro

Hi colleaguesFor a server placed on VMware, I use snapshots with "File system and application consistent" enabled for backup. On this same server is installed MS SQL Server, and also iDataAgen Commvault (iDataAgent) for SQL backup.During VMware snapshot backup for this server, SQL Server reports to me that at the indicated moment of snapshot execution, 5 seconds later, an additional (in addition to the scheduler for MSSQL for iDataAgent) full database backup is run, which are is not included in scheduler for iDataAgent.I checked it and this full SQL backup coincides with the snapshot backup called from a separate scheduler with the options set as above. From the SQL side, it can be seen that the Commvault-syndicated backup for the SQL backup is called on the ‘Commvaut Galaxy Backup” user, and the full backup one connected to the snapshot, is executed on the “NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM” user.Does anyone know why this is happening, and how to disable the exe

We are considering how best to use the Network Proxy Appliance described in BOL https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/102386_commvault_network_proxy_appliance.html You download a OVA from the store, deploy it, and set up a group, etc…  I understand all the logistics of setting it up.  What I don’t fully understand is why I would do this.   The Commvault Network Proxy Appliance enables communication between a backup network that contains Commvault resources such as the CommServe system and MediaAgents, and one or more isolated networks that include resources that are protected by Commvault. My backup systems (CS & MA) are in a network that is used by other things/systems.  Maybe I should move it to it’s own network to better protect it from attacks.  I am not sure

Hi Commvault Community, Hope everyone is doing well. I had some questions regarding Commvault support for some Virtualization features, the documentation wasn’t helpful for me, unfortunately. Does Commvault support “Continuous Data Protection” mode on virtualization platforms ? If so, which vendors it supports. Does Commvault support instant recovery and power on restore (The VM is power on through backup jobs history and in the background, the VM is being restored).Please to share with me links to the documentation if there is any, your guidance is much appreciated. Regards.

Hello,We are missing something. Running a simple full backup from RMAN command line, it kick a "(command line)" sublient job in the job controller. Ok so far…But the job once it completes, I cannot see it from the commcell console job history. What else should be customized to have it correctly registered in the commserve DB?Regards,Pedro
