Hello Commvault Community, Is there any official list for "simOSid" for the SetVMOSInfo qscript?https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/setvmosinfo.html We don't know what the "simOSid" parameter is for. As I understand it will take some numerical value that isn’t described anywhere. We want to change a misrecognized OS for a virtual machine for oVirt. Thanks,Kamil
Hello,I have a VM that has a pass through PCi device configured (GPU).I need to backup this VM.As snapshots cannot be taken and CV agent cannot be installed due to network restrictions, I thought of turning off the VM before backup. There I have a couple of questions:Which technology will the pre-script use: ssh to ESXi Host, Rest-API to Vcenter or Powercli from media agent?Where is the script hosted? On the VSA=mediaagent or on the ESX Host? Are there any examples available?. I did not find anything on the net. Thanks for the support
Hi,I am planning on moving a CommServe to Azure. As part of my planning I will make sure that once the CommServe is migrate to Azure it can talk to the Media Agents & Clients on ports 8400-8403 and vice versa. I will also have ports 80 & 443 open so I can connect to the Web Console. Am I missing again ? Thanks
is there any recommended way to backup cisco unity and publisher vms , file system level backup supproted ?
Hello Team,This is the new implementation of Commvault VM backup on KVM environment.VM's are running application and Oracle DB.Our requirement is mentioned in below:How to take VM's image backup from KVM virtualization and what are the pre-requisites needed. Is it supported IntelliSnap feature on KVM environment. How to take backup of Oracle DB using RMAN. Currently we have only Commvault Backup & Recovery For Virtual Machines license. No capacity based license. Thanks in advance.
Hello, guys, while I'm trying to configure backup content or application group. I can’t figure out PVC of namespace, i can only see namespaces. Does that relate to service account permissions or what?
Hi,does anyone know if there are any plans to support oVirt 4.5.x? It was released almost a year ago and still the highest supported version is 4.4.x.Regards,Lukasz
We have an installation of Commvault 11.28.36 in an AWS environment. There is only 1 Commserve servicing multiple VPC’s with each VPC having it’s own Media Agent(s) and S3 Bucket(s). We have Couchbase installations in various VPC’s and currently we use the Couchbase backup utilities to dump the backups to EFS which are also mounted on the media agents. From there, we do EFS backups to S3. We are interested in exploring the Commvault Couchbase backup process with targets to S3 and have a few questions: Does Commvault Couchbase backup process just utilizes the Couchbase backup utilities? Is there any document that provides technical details on the backup process? Currently, with the EFS backup, we are utilizing the Capacity Based License. If we move to this Commvault solution, what license will it consume? I appreciate insight into to this. ThanksChuck
We are planning on swapping production VMs between our two data centers on a regular basis. We’re using Power Max storage with SRDF Metro (synchronous) replication, VMware with SRM protected VMs, Commvault Primary backup at the DC where the VMs happen to be at the time and an AUX copy at the other DC. We backup VM snapshot images (so Agent-less).We can configure SRM to maintain UUID after a failover to the Secondary site (secondary vCentre), so the licensing issue seems fine. SRDF Metro replication keeps the sites in sync, so from a VMware perspective, both sites ‘see’ the same disk IDs. My question is about finding a way to configure Commvault to recognize the AUX copies as Primary, AND, more importantly, continue to leverage the same CBT info from the Primary site. This should be possible given SRDF Metro maintains bit level duplication of all disks/blocks.Without CBT continuation across sites, after failing 500-ish VMs over to the Secondary site, we’re looking at at full re-seeding
Hi all,I have installed a “Virtual Server” package on a linux VM but the VM is not listed as an Access Node when configuring access nodes for a Hypervisor or a VM group.Couple of days ago I installed two VM with same OS and same Commvault packages and these two VM became available as Access nodes immediately.(Commvault release is 11.32.35)Could anybody help, please? Thanks,Lubos

dear,I need your support, the client needs a report of the last 3 months of a survey of VM licenses, he wants to know how much license he consumes per month, is there any way to get this survey of licenses ? because by default we can only see the current statuses
Hello Commvault community,I would like to talk about “Virtual Machine(s) has been decommissioned” alerts.I see that Commvault can understand when a VM is decommissioned. So, in order to safe a Commvault license for this decommissioned VM, I need to manual remove it from VM group or Commvault can handle that automatically? Moreover, it is also necessary to delete the history / previous VM backup jobs (for this decommissioned VM), so stop to consume Commvault VM license?Best regards,Nikos
Hello, we are using intellisnap backups to protect AWS EC2 instances however even though we set spool copy (no retention), the snapshot is not deleted after data aging runs (and completes without any issues). One snapshot is always left. Could anyone advise, please, if it is expected or something is not working properly?
Hi All, GreetingsWe have below Setup where Ovirt is integrated with Commvault. Commvault Proxy Server Version--11.32Commserve---11.32.28oVirt ---4.3.10.4-1.el7 We are facing problem for VM which are having more then two disks, as VSA Proxy server is not allowing to add the 3rd Disk. In our setup VSA proxy server is having only one disk. We are unable to add more then 3 disks to VSA proxy server. Is it a bug? regardsArup
Hi,I have the an on-prem 11.28 CommServe, combined MA & VSA Proxy backing up my VMware environment.I want to restore VM’s to VMware cloud on AWS, I add my pseudo client pointing at my AWS vCentre but I keep getting Failed to connect to vCenter server [https://vcenter.xxyyzz] as user [my username] from access node [Media Agent / Proxy]. [The remote name could not be resolved: 'https']I can confirmed the following ports.Port RequirementsIn an environment with firewalls, the vCenter, ESX servers, and Virtual Server Agent must be able to communicate with each other. To ensure that all components can communicate through the firewall, ensure that the ports for web services (default: 443) and TCP/IP (default: 902) are opened for bidirectional communication on each of these machines. Is this networking or do I need to put a VSA Proxy in AWS ? Regards

Hello, everyone,I use Nutanix as my hypervisor and am trying to restore a VM from Metallic in the hypervisor. The job fails for this reason:Error code: [91:16]Description: A virtual machine with name [SB-Log] already exists. Please delete this virtual machine manually or select overwrite option and resubmit restore job.Source: pcnideas2019, Process: vsrstIs it possible to remedy this error by renaming the VM being restored?Unfortunately I can't find any option that allows me to do this.I ask for your support.Thank youCarmine
how to configure accessnode for openshift cluster in disconnected mode ?To Install config chart using Helm command will require Internet access but here no Internet access. Any other way to setup ?!
Hi,In BOL (https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/create_repository_group_for_azure_devops.html) the following is stated (step 4): “Azure services: Select the Azure service to back up.Boards, Repos, Pipelines, Test Plans, and Artifacts are selected by default. To unselect, from the list, click the Azure service.” When we follow the instructions on this page in the Commvault documentation, we don't see this option to select or unselect these services. What are we missing here / which additional steps do we need to take to access the option to (un)select the Azure services? Thanks!
Hi,When browsing for items to select for restore in an Azure DevOps app, I can only select items of type “Repository” for restore. How should I be able to restore Azure DevOps Work Items, which as far as I know should also be included in the backup? Thanks
Hi Team,in the CVLT documentation we found the following limitation:For streaming backups and backup copies, if the access node used for backups and restores is running on an Amazon EC2 instance, the access node must be available in the same user account as the instance being backed up or restored. This requirement does not apply to IntelliSnap backupshttps://documentation.commvault.com/2024/essential/system_requirements_for_protecting_amazon_ec2_instances.htmlDoes it mean that if we backup Oracle/Hana inside an EC2 with CVLT Agent we must place the AN in the same AWS account as Oracle EC2 ? While in the following link we see indicated that :Hypervisors can use AWS service account resources for the following operations: Streaming backup Etc Using Resources from a Service Account (commvault.com) Can you please confirm if AccNode can definitely be deployed solely into a Service Account w/o limitations ?Many Thanks.Francesco
Hi All, As far as I know, Intellisnap backup is the one of the great option in physical environments. It brings, lot of benefits and improve backup performance. As per my understanding, during the VM Backup, the software snapshot taken by hypervisor, whereas in Intellisnap, hardware snapshot taken by storage and mounted in the VSA. But, I couldn’t figure out, how the IntelliSnap backup works in Cloud (Azure) and how its beneficial over Azure VSA backup in terms of backup performance.Because, both scenario, its a software snapshot and it suppose to be mounted in the VSA to perform backup copy nothing but streaming backup. Can anyone provide more information and also share if you know any whitepaper. Thanks,Manikandan
Hi all!I’ve been trying to solve some issue, but I’m out of ideas already. I’m preparing new Commvault solution for OLVM (Oracle Linux Virtualization, based on oVirt). One of the VMs (let’s name it VM_RDM) has physical RDM disks attached, which are being backed up externally, outside of CV. I need to exclude them from CV backup, but sadly I didn’t find any solution for OLVM.My VM_RDM is backing up properly, but I’m getting status “Backed up with 1/more errors” with description “physical RDM disks are not supported”. I know it doesn’t impact my backups, but is there any way to get rid of this communicate? I can’t use filesystem backup due to requirements. I tried disk filters in “content” page, setting up different plans, subclients etc, but it just doesn’t work. I tried additional setting “IgnoreUnsupportedDisks” (https://documentation.commvault.com/additionalsetting/details?name=%22IgnoreUnsupportedDisks%22&id=1318), but it didn’t change anything as well. I found this topic which
