I configured the backup of VMs created in the Nutanix hypervisor. Everything works except the backup of the VM acting as agent Virtual Server.Its backup fails with the error "Proxy virtual machine is unable to backup itself".What solution can I find to remedy this?

When restoring an Azure VM from Commvault using snapshot restore, where the disk names are getting changed. We want to prevent this without changing the disk name. Our infrastructure uses Terraform tool which expect resources to adhere to a predefined naming convention.. In the terraform next execution, If the disk name is changed after restore. Terraform automation will remove the restored disk and create a new empty one as per the standard defined.Can you please suggest a solution to prevent disk name changes during the restore process?

Getting below error during the snapshot restoration. What could be the reason and how to fix this issue. Unable to create a new virtual machine [WEAZPRDAWST01] on host [RG-PRD-SAP-EU-WST-001] datastore [stalogsprdsapeu001].  [A disk with sku 'Premium_ZRS' cannot be created in an availability zone. Code=OperationNotAllowed, HTTP Code=400-Bad Request]

Hello everyone, I’m currently changing the MA in a environment and I could move all the data and jobs from the old MA to the new one. In the tab Recovery targets configuration I could change the MA to the new one, but I need to change the Primary Storage and could add a new Storage on it, but when I try to remove the Storage Pool of the old MA, I receive a message saying that I cannot remove it. (all the steps was made in the Command Center, since the first configuration, till now). I tried to take a look in Java GUI to try set the Storage Pool of the new MA, but the DR Storage Policy is not listed in there, but idk why. Before I open a ticket (if this is a issue) or reconfigure the DR in the Replication Group with everything new, I wanted to know if there’s something I could do. Do you guys have an idea or a way to do this? Thanks, 😀

I’m new to the Commvault world and tasked with researching, installing and configuring Commvault in our environment.   My aim is to gather as much information as possible prior to installing Commvault.   I’m currently taking an intro to Commvault course, but it appears this is a very complex piece of software.   My question is:   would it be prudent to deploy a VMware VM with the Commvault software pre-Installed by using the Commvault OVA (not HYPERSCALE X)?   Does anyone have experience using the appliance to get Commvault up and running in your environment?   If so, are there any “gotchas” I should be concerned about?   Any downside with updates to the appliance (e.g. new patches) or any other potential issues?   Any information is greatly appreciated.

Actually my question is , i have added vmare vCenter in commvault, but the virtual machine is not showing proper way. like not showing  left side navigation commcell windows. it is show vCenter tab then expand then virtual server then expand then default then double click and then contend tab and it is showing all virtual machine.don’t want this way.. want showing left side navigation window all virtual machine.How ? any process ?

Hi I am trying to backup a Kubernetes PVC volume backup, but how do I get a list up so I can pick the correct PVC backup?I am not able to find any Commvault documentation on this “Value” that is needed. Thanks in advance!

Hello, is there a way to setup the last backup of a specific VM on the Custom Attributes on VCenter?is this possible in Commvault or its only a feature in VEEAM?   

Hi,when I want to restore a VM with vTPM module, the certificate changes when I switch on the VM and I have to enter a recovery keywhat is the correct way to restore a VM with TPM module correctly? Are there any settings missing here or is there something that needs to be taken into account on the VMware side? 

Is there any down time associated with performing a a ‘live recovery’ for a VM(s)?i.e.- complete a ‘live recovery’ job for VM1. During or afterwards, any negative affects or downtime on VM1? 

Hello Team,We are going to implement new Commvault backup solution.Currently the backup solution running VM's image backup and application like SQL, Oracle and Exchange is configured agent based.SQL DB -  Always-On & Failover cluster (both configuration is available). Going to new Commvault solution will use below mentioned configuration.Will take entire Image backup.  Will take image with application-aware backup also. For SQL Always-on what is the best practice will follow the VM's with application-aware (each SQL AG group will create job and include VM's in part of AG). What is the backup configuration of SQL using Windows failover VM's (is it supported application aware backup).

Hello,I have a VM that has a pass through PCi device configured (GPU).I need to backup this VM.As  snapshots cannot be taken and CV agent cannot be installed due to network restrictions, I thought of turning off the VM before backup.There I have a couple of questions:Which technology will the pre-script use: ssh to ESXi Host, Rest-API to Vcenter or Powercli from media agent?Where is the script hosted? On the VSA=mediaagent or on the ESX Host?Are there any examples available?. I did not find anything on the net.Thanks for the support 

Hi,I am planning on moving a CommServe to Azure.As part of my planning I will make sure that once the CommServe is migrate to Azure it can talk to the Media Agents & Clients on ports 8400-8403 and vice versa. I will also have ports 80 & 443 open so I can connect to the Web Console. Am I missing again ?  Thanks

Is it supported IntelliSnap feature on KVM environment. How to take backup of Oracle DB using RMAN. Currently we have only Commvault Backup & Recovery For Virtual Machines license. We have an installation of Commvault 11.28.36 in an AWS environment.  There is only 1 Commserve servicing multiple VPC’s with each VPC having it’s own Media Agent(s) and S3 Bucket(s).  We have Couchbase installations in various VPC’s and currently we use the Couchbase backup utilities to dump the backups to EFS which are also mounted on the media agents.  From there, we do EFS backups to S3. We are interested in exploring the Commvault Couchbase backup process with targets to S3 and have a few questions:  Does Commvault Couchbase backup process just utilizes the Couchbase backup utilities?  Is there any document that provides technical details on the backup process? Currently, with the EFS backup, we are utilizing the Capacity Based License.  If we move to this Commvault solution, what license will it consume? I appreciate insight into to this. ThanksChuck

We are planning on swapping production VMs between our two data centers on a regular basis. We’re using Power Max storage with SRDF Metro (synchronous) replication, VMware with SRM protected VMs, Commvault Primary backup at the DC where the VMs happen to be at the time and an AUX copy at the other DC. We backup VM snapshot images (so Agent-less).We can configure SRM to maintain UUID after a failover to the Secondary site (secondary vCentre), so the licensing issue seems fine. SRDF Metro replication keeps the sites in sync, so from a VMware perspective, both sites ‘see’ the same disk IDs. My question is about finding a way to configure Commvault to recognize the AUX copies as Primary, AND, more importantly, continue to leverage the same CBT info from the Primary site. This should be possible given SRDF Metro maintains bit level duplication of all disks/blocks.Without CBT continuation across sites, after failing 500-ish VMs over to the Secondary site, we’re looking at at full re-seeding

Hi all,I have installed a “Virtual Server” package on a linux VM but the VM is not listed as an Access Node when configuring access nodes for a Hypervisor or a VM group.Couple of days ago I installed two VM with same OS and same Commvault packages and these two VM became available as Access nodes immediately.(Commvault release is 11.32.35)Could anybody help, please?Thanks,Lubos 

Hello All,  I am facing an issue that is come from time to time, it happened in my DR site, however I observed that once scheduled backup started it been in running status till next day morning with no progress, till I force susbended the job and resume again it will work and completed successfully. kindly advise if the same issue might happened to you . thank you all
