Hi,I have quite strange situation, we’ve intalled simpana 9 on an HPUX 11, first we’ve installed the with a firewalled envirnonment and it didnt work (it seems simpana 9 doesn’t like the firewall config)after that we’ve reintalled the agent with the firewall disabled on the client but the commserve stills tries to connect through the port 8403.Attaching to beta2rp*beta2rp*8400*8402 using XDR failed. Hi Guys,we’re running on Commvault 11.28.69Backup of VMs on a streched VSAN Cluster, where VSAs are deployed to both fault domains, enabling the use of hotadd transport mode in both locations. The backups are currently assigned to any available VSA, without honoring the fault domain. This creates additional WAN Traffic and also has an impact on backup performance.According to BOL this feature is available since 11.20New Features for Virtualization in 11.20 (commvault.com)I also defined bEnableClusterFaultDomainDispatch = true (should be default) on all VSA, but doesn’t lead to a proper VSA selection. Once the VM is not running on the same host as a VSA, any VSA is assigned. Are there any further settings to enable (or the other way arround to disabled) that lead to a propper asignment of VMs to VSA ?As a workaround, I now assigned the usable/wanted VSA now to each virtualization client’s subclient instead of the instance only. This restricts the VSA to the local fault domain only, but th
We currently have Virtual Machines replicating with Live Sync, Full is executed and then incremental, my question is, is there a way to prioritize that the Full backups are copied first and then the incremental ones, we see that it does not replicate the full VMs first, if not It seems that it prioritizes smaller VMs.
Hi All,we have to backup a large number of VM on Xenserver.I created Windows proxy and added it as access node. i was able to backup windows & linux Vm with this.but when I went for Guest file level restore then it was asking for FREL enable ( for both Linux & Windows)Then i added another VM in same host with linux os and enabled it for FREL with media agent role and then Guest level restore worked for both. Now, I want to use only Linux VM as proxy and want to get rid of Windows at all, Can i do this?I do not see any option to add non-widows Proxy as access node in xen pseudo client in commvault.Does it means , i will have to keep one windows VM as proxy for backup & one linux VM for FREL? it would be great wastage of resources . please confirm and suggest any workaround.
Good morning, according to the BOL arcticle below, it is crucial to check the order of SCSI ID numbers used for a virtual VSA in VMware.HotAdd Transport for VMware (commvault.com)The IDs used in my environment are different to the IDs in the BOL article. Can someone tell me whether it is posible, that I ran into the described situation ?The high number (1184) mentioned in the article is assigned to the ethernet controller, while SCSI Port Numbers seem to be in ascending order also digit-wise.we’re also facing sporadic file access errors as described in the arcticle, each time for different VMs BRKlaus
Hello, I have a fresh installation of Commvault version 11.28.56. I am attempting to connect to our vCenter instance through the Command Center GUI. After putting in the information to ‘Add Hypervisor’ I receive a ‘Request body is empty or format is invalid.’ error. Clicking equivalent API shows the following:{ "vcenterHostName": "172.16.123.10", "name": "vCenter", "accessNodes": [ { "id": 2, "name": "n1-prod-commvlt" } ], "userName": "vsphere.local\\administrator", "password": "cGFzc3dvcmQ=", "hypervisorType": "VMware", "skipCredentialValidation": false} Attached is the error. I have tried vsphere.local\administrator, administrator@vsphere.local, and a Windows AD account. I ensured the ‘VSA’ software was installed on the access node. Any help is appreciated!Error
Hi Team,we are running SAN Transport Backups agaings a Fully Automated ESXI Cluster. During the long running backup the DRS feature pops in and doing a Storage VMotion against VMs which are currently backed up. Eg VM on DS1 → is storage vmotioned to DS2 After the backup we still see all the “Orpahned Files” on DS1. We tried to utilize the additonal Setting “bDisableVMotionDuringBackup” which did not prevent a Storage VMotion during the backup. We are currently running 11.30.If i am not not wrong we saw in ealrier commvault Versions ( 11.28 ) a Taks in the VCenter → VM → Tasks like “DRS disabled” during the backup. ( not sure but maybe with Transport mode “NBD” this issue is not seen ) Anyone facing the same issue.
An edge condition was found when performing a file-level restore of a virtual machine using the Virtual Server Agent, the Access or Proxy Node may reboot due to the CVVD.sys driver that loads the backup data for browsing. The following versions are affected:FeatureRelease 22.42 to 22.49 FeatureRelease 23.29 to 23.34 FeatureRelease 24.15 to 24.20 FeatureRelease 25.0 to 25.2Some common symptoms are the CVD log will flood with NULL values and the following error will be reported for the browse on the media agent.Failed to receive browse response from MediaAgent. Please check Browse.log on MediaAgent. The Browse log on the media agent and\or access node (VSA Proxy) may indicate the following:CCvNetwork::CheckIfDataAvailable() - Thread is waiting for data on a socket. Waited for 600 sec(s). Requested wait time = no time out. IssueVMWare recently released update 7.0 U2b to address two high profile security vulnerabilities. If this update is installed it breaks VMWare tag associations, which in turn means that if Commvault backups and virtual machine reporting (specifically Chargeback) are based on VMWare Tags those backups or Reports will also no longer function properly.Security IssuesVMware vSphere Client (HTML5) contains a remote code execution vulnerability due to lack of input validation in the VMware vSAN health check plug-in. A malicious actor with network access to port 443 might exploit this issue to execute commands with unrestricted privileges on the underlying operating system that hosts vCenter Server. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the identifier CVE-2021-21985 to this issue. For more information, see VMware Security Advisory VMSA-2021-0010.
