Hello Guys;Let me explain what it happens to me on the commserve environment. I have vmware backup tape backups but on the job history for those backups i can't see in which media the backup copies were copied, i can only see where the primary snap are saved. To be able to see those tape backups copies I have to go to all the way to the storage policy and select the option tape and select view jobs and select all the servers to see in which media they were copied. Is there a way to solved the little issue?? By the way i have version 11.20.60 of commserve.
Hi all,Has anyone had this error popup when adding a Virtual Client?I’m pretty sure it’s an issue with the Commserve because I’ve tried various hypervisors and proxies to no avail. Thanks!
Hi all,We currently have upgraded to 11.23.21 and currently strategising implementing the new CV Server Backup Plans. In the meantime, there is a new set of critical servers that can only be backed up when they have been shutdown and absolutely no other software or agents (especially CV agent) can be installed and they can’t be VM snapshotted while online - only when powered off.Apparently this will only happen every 2-3 months when windows updates are installed, and will completed by normal staff members (not CV administrators), so they need access to Commvault and instructions on how to perform a manual backup. So can anyone let me know what would be the easiest, most risk-free way for them to do this in Classic commvault ways or the new Server Backup Plan way please?I’m still learning, so any instructions would be most gratefully accepted. Thanks, DM
Hi, Today I tried to to restore a Folder directly to a VM but only 5 of 6 Items were restored (if I restored the same folder directly to the MA all was fine). For this I used the Command Center.I think this one file which was not restored has a problem if Commvault copies it over the network. Here is a snippet of the log: 8164 d1c 08/18 09:16:09 29346 CVSAgentlessRestoreToVM::CopyToGuest() - Creating guest dir [D:\tmp\Scripte\]8164 d1c 08/18 09:16:09 29346 CVWinGuestAPI::CopyFileToGuest() - MoveFileExW failed[2]! \\?\C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\iDataAgent\JobResults\CV_JobResults\2\0\29346\ForGuestVM\Scripte\geöffnete Dateien anzeigen.cmd -> \\?\UNC\192.168.50.238\D$\tmp\Scripte\geöffnete Dateien anzeigen.cmd8164 d1c 08/18 09:16:09 29346 CVSAgentlessRestoreToVM::CopyToGuest() - Failed to copy [C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\iDataAgent\JobResults\CV_JobResults\2\0\29346\ForGuestVM\Scripte\geöffnete Dateien anzeigen.cmd] to [D:\tmp\Scripte\geöffnete Dateie
Hi,has anyone implemented vm backups in rhev-m virtualized environment ? Thanks
Hi,Hope you can help me.When doing app aware backups, the software installs an agent on the VM, correct? What happens when I want to granular restore the app data? From what I’ve read (not so sure), Commvault mounts the VM filesystem on the MediaAgent and one is able to look for granular app data and then copy what is wanted to the VM. Does copying the app data to the VM need an agent to be installed (on the VM or anywhere)? Thanks!
So recently we migrated our ESXi VMware VMs to a new vCenter and since then the VSA jobs have been failing to complete on and off and I have a single Unix appliance that is being used as a proxy so I don’t need it to manage the jobs but it is. How can I disable it from grabbing those jobs and I assume the VM snapshots will be managed by the media agents? Thanks.

We’ve added another vcenter client to our commcell and it’s full backup copies are running very slow - 20-30GB/HR.Infrastructure is 10GigE on AFF300 SAN with SSD disks. When I run a backup history I only see the snap jobs, and I’d iike to compare both vcenters backup jobs for throughput - - how can I see more than just snap jobs?
We are doing some testing with EC2 running Windows and SQL. I enabled App Aware backups and the first issue we have come across is the VSAAppAwareBackupWorkflow is picking up the EC2 instance internal machine name instead of the Domain name. Is this how it is supposed to work? The Commserve cannot resolve the internal machine name - ip-10-49-2-225.us-east-2.compute.internal. The domain name is Test-CV-SQL-Backup-01. Any help is appreciated!
I have two long running VSA jobs, hypervisor is VMware ESXi v7u1. Both subclient jobs contain several VMs and each one has a lingering VM, meaning it’s been running for days and not showing any progress. I can kill those specific VM jobs but will the subclient show completed with errors or show as failed if I do? I’m not sure what the expected behavior is so I thought I’d reach out to the community to see if anyone else has had the same problem and do what I’m ready to try.
IssueVMWare recently released update 7.0 U2b to address two high profile security vulnerabilities. If this update is installed it breaks VMWare tag associations, which in turn means that if Commvault backups and virtual machine reporting (specifically Chargeback) are based on VMWare Tags those backups or Reports will also no longer function properly.Security IssuesVMware vSphere Client (HTML5) contains a remote code execution vulnerability due to lack of input validation in the VMware vSAN health check plug-in. A malicious actor with network access to port 443 might exploit this issue to execute commands with unrestricted privileges on the underlying operating system that hosts vCenter Server. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the identifier CVE-2021-21985 to this issue. For more information, see VMware Security Advisory VMSA-2021-0010. I have some question about mounting storage snapshot on Vmare. Atm we are using 2 Windows MediaAgent to mount storage snapshot to make Intellisnap for Windows Servers and we are using 2 Linux MediaAgents for Linux servers. We are going replace 2 MediaAgents with 2 new Linux MediaAgents. What are the possibilities for mounting storage snaps for Windows servers to make Intellisnaps backup copy? Can we mount it on VM server? Does anyone have same situation? Commserver VR 11.24.3vSphere Client version 7.0.2.00200
Hello guys, I am trying to upgrade VMware and Hyper-V pseudo-clients to Indexing Version 2. I have found the following procedure:https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=10812.htm However, the procudure refers to clients (agents, i.e. File system Agent). I cannot find any procedure regarding to pseudo-clients. Any ideas how to upgrade them to Indexing Version 2? Rgds,Kamil
Hi, maybe someone from the community also needed to automatically restart “Completed with errors” VM job only for failed vm’s? There is an option from GUI, but it would be much easier to restart it using api or wokflow. If someone found an option to do that it would be great if yu could share it! Thank you!
Hallo CV community, recently we got this error while using the SAN transport mode with auto scheduled jobs. Failure Reason:· ERROR CODE [72:106]: VDDK Version 6.5 is required to back up virtual machines on hosts running ESX 6.5 using SAN mode. The VDDK will be auto updated on the next attempt. We are usingVMware vCenter ServerVersion:7.0.2.00200Build-Nummer17958471Any ideas regarding this issues. BRPhilipp
So we recently had a run in with a database issue with our VMware client, which made us not allow us to add or modify new/existing subclients. Although i never got a straight answer as to what caused it, the rep was hinting that we had way to many subclients. My question is two fold; How do we properly and efficiently group them together inside the virtual client, and if we have for example 20 vm’s together inside a subclient, if one fails, how do we backup that individual failed vm without having to re-backup the other 19 that were sucessfull? We have a tape enviroment so backing up redundant data is something i am trying to avoid.
I would like to know what others have tried to resolve this problem in AWS. I have already tried to documentation Commvault support provided and made changes to the Role in AWS.
I have the following situation:1 or more Hyper-V clusters (MA + VSA installed on every node)1 domain service account configured on the Hyper-V instance (Client)1 media agent server (fysical) not domain joined (with MA, VSA, CommandDevice and Raidmanager installed)1 Hitachi VSP F700 storage Array with IntelliSnap integration on subclient. First, the primary snap is doing great.Second after the snapshot the backup copy must start and mount the snapshot (proxy redirected in the subclient) to the same media agent. When the discovery starts CommVault tries to login on the media agent server and fails:“Set pending cause (unable to connect to virtual machine host (mediaagent server) as user (domain\user) Please ensure that the access node is able to communicate with the host and the user en pw is correct :: client (mediaagentserver)” Now, if I join the mediaagent server to the AD domain the backup copy works, the snapshot is mounted on the mediaagent server and the data is read from the snapsh
Ver11 SP16 Is there a way to report on how much space an individual server(s) backup is consuming on disk. Optimally I would be able to run this report through out the entire environment (every server) Looking specifically for VSA backups?
Hello,I have a Commvault environment where I have 3 VSAs installed and added to the Virtual Server instance to backup and restore my VMs in my virtualized environment. The backup and restore of the VMs works flawlessly except the backup of the VMs with VSA function which throws the following error: “Proxy virtual machine is unable to backup itself”How can I backup VMs with VSA function? I see that if of the 3 VSAs I have the same one fails.Could someone tell me how to do it?Thank you very much!

Hi, i try to deploy plugin Vcenter.in documentation we need to enable SAML but the option is not avalaible !!Any idea ?
Guys, good morning.I am starting to create the Backup Virtual Server in my Commvault environment.I always backed up my virtual servers using the FileSystem Agent. My question:By deploying a backup routine with "Virtual Server" on my virtual servers, I cancontinue backing up with "FileSystem" agent, is it a good practice? or it is not necessary to back up with the FileSystem agent, as I will now deploy a virtual server backup area.------- Pessoal, bom dia.
what happened if we expand disk in our vm that covered on commvault? do i have to reconfigure on commvault app again? or it still can backup without any impact?Thank you
