MSGID 0x0e0000f4 failed to initalize browse request, check browse.log on commserve for more details.

Hi, When trying to restore off tapes from 4 years ago, we get the following message: MSGID 0x0e0000f4 failed to initalize browse request, check browse.log on commserve for more details. The last 2 restores we can do a browse and restore from however nothing from the time period of 4 years ago. The last 2 weekly’s (30th of August and 3rd of August) we can browse it no problem. However the 16th of August errors the same as the error from 4 years ago. It seems to be random. Lost and not sure what to do. Regards Muhammed

Backing up 32TB Virtual Machine within few hours.

Hello, All So, i have this concern and i am looking to get back to the customer as soon as possible. They are backing up virtual machines that are as big as 32TB. They want the backup for those VMs to complete within 1-2 hours. What kind of infrastructure should be put in place to achieve this?

1 VC in 2 Different CommServe

Can we configure 1 VCenter in 2 different commServe? The Subclients that backup are different in 2 Commserve’s and proxy’s Will the Backups run smooth? Do we anticipate any ambiguity?

VM Migration using CV

Hello Team, In our environment we have are planning to a VM migration from one Vcenter to the other one. I am thinking of commvault instead of Veeam application to perform migration. In commvault thinking of using VM replication option to migrate VM from source to destination vcenter with periodic replication. Once replication is completed I can stop and continue services using destination vcenter. Please suggest, if its good to go or do we have any other option to perform the migration.

Restoring Incremental backup

i would like to know how the restore works , considering i have a full backup on weekend like Saturday and then daily incremental . now i want restore from last Wednesday , how the restoration works ? system go for the last full backup and then check the incrementals then convert it as a full backup and restore , or do we need to do it manually ??

Dedicated Interface Paring (DIP) for VMware backup, and HyperScaleX as target

Good day! We have a requirement to route VMware backup over the dedicated VMkernel network on ESXI hosts. Unfortunately, the CommVault solution does not have a proper method to route VMware backup traffic over 902 (NFC) to HyperscaleX. If I’m correct the “Dedicated Interface Paring (DIP)” will not work for the VMware backup type. Please let me know if there are some improvements made in the latest Version to manage VMware backup traffic using DIP. Below are the environment details, IP, and names being just dummy, curious to know if it will work if I use a host file entry to route traffic over a dedicated VMkernel network. Commserve: IP and Name MGMT -→ 192.168.10.10 cs01.test.com Backup -→ 10.0.8.10 HyperScaleX: Network label, IP and Name. Three node HSX cluster. Bond1 has sub interfaces. Bond1.1 → CS-Reg → 192.168.10.11 HSX01.test.com, 192.168.10.12 HSX02.test.com, 192.168.10.12 HSX03.test.com → This has DNS entry. Does CV (11.28) support Azure Stack HCI 23H2

Hello, we are planning to install an Azure Stack HCI 23H2 cluster. Does CV (11.28) currently support this version for Backup and Recovery? I find in the documentation “Azure Stack HCI version 20H2 and more recent versions”. Thanks in advance. Jörg

Auto-Recovery Conversion from VMware to Azure AVS

Good Day Community, Few questions regarding Auto Recovery from VMware to Azure AVS (Azure VMware Solution). First, I do not see clearly on the documentation site if Auto-Recovery supports VMware to AVS replication (although it is VMware to Vmware (theoretically), I’d still like to validate if it is supported. Second, will the restore still be an incremental restore. Thisrd, if the customer decides to go with Auto-Recovery between VMware and standard Azure VMs instead of AVS, will the restore still be an incremental restore. what creates cv-config namespace and is it required

Our container SME noticed that there was a new namespace created a couple days ago which appears “empty” for the most part. This page talks about it but sort of implies it requires manual steps to set up. Nobody did anything to push this into the cluster, and, we protect 4 distinct clusters with cvlt yet only one of them has this new namespace in it. All 4 are backing up just fine (all namespaces that is) so, what is it and why does it appear to be randomly created in our clusters? thanks!

Moving data back from hot storage to archive manually

Hello fellow Commvaulters, I hope someone can help. We had a case recently raised with Commvault where data that was used to restore data from Azure Archive to Hot Storage. However even though the job completed months ago, it was noticed by our Cloud Services Team that the data was still sitting in Hot Tier Storage which was costing a premium. Commvault’s documentation states the below. However does anyone know how we can empty this container manually? Second question is the below states “ Move back data from Hot to Archive”. Where is this option on the workflow? I couldn’t see it? There is an option to tick “Auto-archive recalled files on restore job completion”. This was ticked for our recall, but still the data remained in Hot Tier. Surely this should not be the case? Thanks TonyQ If you execute the workflow with backup job as input, execute the workflow again and select the Move back data from Hot to Archive option when prompted. Virtualize me windows 2019 to Azure

We are performing the Physical server restoration to Azure with Virtualize me option form the command center, During the restore we are getting below error. Same server if we perform the Virtualize me restoration from the GUI console, the restoration will be success but the server is not booting in the Azure. also we noticed during the restore the multiple VHD are getting created. But the server is having only 2 drive C and F. Also i want to highlight here, In the general tab we are not bale to list/select the Hypervisor client, there is bug in it. Could you please help me to fix the issue.

Need help in vm periodic replication

Hi We have two site main DC and DR site and I want to replicate a vm from DC to DR and we have mediaagent on both site. What is happening right now is when replication happen it first take backup (dedupe) and then restore from backup to DR site and while restoring process full vm original size and it is choking the bandwidth Then i take the call with support and he suggested to check the “replicate using secondary copy option” and choose DR mediaagent as storage in secondary copy Now when replication trigger it first take backup in main DC site then aux copy trigger from DC to DR site then replication happen but it still restoring the vm from main DC not DR. Can anyone help here?

Migration of Indexing v1 to v2 for multiple pseudo-clients targetting the same VCenter

Hello ! There are many helpful links and docs about VSA Indexing v1 to v2 migration, requirements and post-migration tasks.. But as of now, I have not yet found the answer to my question regarding my environment. We have a single VMWare VCenter, lets call it VCENTER. This single VCENTER server manages multiple locations, like USA, CANADA, INDIA, etc.., where each time we have a corresponding VMWare Datacenter, with ESXes, VMs we need to backup, and MAs. In our Commvault environment so far, for internal reasons, I have created a VMWare Pseudo client for each location, like : VCENTER-USA VCENTER-CANADA VCENTER-INDIA Each point to the same VCENTER, but the VSA configuration for proxies, SPs and target VMs to backup are different as they’re pointing to the servers for each location. They were all created using indexing v1. So far I can only migrate using the indexing v1 to v2 workflow. My question is, is it possible to update only 1 of those pseudo client, like VCENTER-INDIA, AND to not af
