Hi All, Our environment is a mid size enterprise setup, we have around 250 servers hosted on On-Prem and Azure. We have configured sync copy to azure with retentions of 10 years for the On-Prem servers and for servers on Azure we have just 1 copy of backup. We would like to have immutable copy on azure and worm protection in commvault. It would be really grateful if anyone can list down the steps and precautions to be taken along with price calculator. We would like to have a weekly full backup with 14 days retention and 2 cycles on this copy.We would also like to know if deduplication is supported? and what preferred storage type (Hot/Cold) on Azure is preferred.Can we use existing media agent which is being used for Sync copy to perform the copy on this selective copy?Does this solution offer a complete end to end protection from cyber attack/ransomware?

Hello,We are having two physical media agents with shared disk library (CIFS) and tape library connected to them. We want to virtualize these media agents, however, after virtualizing we want to run the existing physical MAs for some time due to backup retention on the tape library.We want to setup new virtual MA, migrate the DDB & IndexCache to new virtual. Now the existing physical media is left with the tape library and no DDB/Index. Is it possible to perform restores from the tape library using these physical MAs?Idea is to run the new backups using virtual MAs and turn the physical MAs off when retention on the tape library expires. Thanks.

we are doing Planned Failover for Vmware to Hyperv Migration Activity  ,but we are seeing missed VMs in target host ,after failover job completed,multiple missing VMs  are created  for single VM  how to overcome this issue , is there any way we can prevent this missing VMs .

Dear Community ,  Install the Virtual Server Agent (VSA) on at least one Oracle Cloud Infrastructure instance. You can install the VSA on other machines to create additional VSA proxies. At least one VSA proxy is needed. what is access needed from proxy, if there are private and public connection, do we need access to manager and vm subnets ? Identify the Oracle Cloud Identifier (OCID) for the tenant and for the admin user for the hypervisor. can anyone help how can we do this  Add required permissions for the OCID tenant and user.any link to refer creating user with required permssion  Create a folder (called base_folder\certificates\external\ for Windows proxies, or called base_folder/certificates/external/ folder for Linux proxies) on the VSA proxy instance. Hello,I have an AWS infrastructure and some times many instances are stopped for maintenance. I search to get the state (stopped / running) of the EC2 from commvault in order to move it in a group of EC2 instance stopped in order to disbale backup. I think i can get the tag of the EC2 instance but i dont’t know how to connect commvaut & AWsThank you for yyour response.

The Configuration scenario as follows, two RHEL Media Agents with OceanProtect X8000 as a NAS as the Disk library, what is the ideal block level to be configured in the storage, and if there is a detailed configuration steps for the same.

Hello, Today we would like to order some external device from Azure to copy the data between Azure and local site. Azure provide two options: -Azure Data Box Disk-Azure Data Box. According to documentation Commvault support the second option, link to documentation: https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/expert/97276_migrating_data_to_microsoft_azure_using_azure_data_box.htmlbut how does it look for the first option. We have network connection built on 1 Gb/s which should be so slow to send 30 TB of data. So maybe better option is Azure Data Box disk which can be connected by USB slot. Regards, Michal  

when i try to backup ActiveIQ mysql DB with the Mysql agent it seems like everything works.When i try to restore the MySQL server the job fails with "cannot start restore program on host (xxx.xxx.xxx.xx 8400*8402) - network error occurred or the products services are not running".The MySQL services are running and there is no firewall between the commserve and the mysql server.

Hi All,We have a VM of 1.5TB, iDA: Virtual Server, Vendor: VMware.While we are restoring the VM with out of place to same destination as source, we are getting low throughput i.e., ~29GB/hr where our network is 10GB/s.This VM is a Windows 2019 machine with latest VMware Tools installed and we have a VSA in same cluster of VM & a physical Linux server as a Media Agent in the same LAN.While backup, it was taking HotAdd mode and the throughput was 137GB/hr and elapsed time was about 6hrs for backup, but for restoring it taking NBD mode and throughput is too low & time taking restore was more than 24hrs.Can someone please let me know, is this restore was slow because the speed of writes on the datastores & disks was low? and also no.of files can affect the speed?If yes, how can we increase the speed of this restore?If not, how can we find the cause of the slowness, any logs to check or any tool to use like CvDiskPerf tool or CvNetworkTestTool?Is there any additional setting tha

Hi All, i need to configure a lot of new oracle instances. The customer do an tech refresh and we have to move all instances in comvmault to the new oda appliance.  So after i installed the file and ora db agent i start the configure process. In the content window i cant select the backup sp file option its not possible. After a buck was running and finished it i can select this checkbox.  is it normal ?

Hello, While defining an alert, i want to set the alert token to match “Not applicable”. Example Virtual Machine name is Not Applicable. For that do i need to use any specific regex or blank spaces as i t does not work when i use “Not applicable” Thanks

Hello,I create a plan, and associated it to SAP HANA subclients.the backup must be scheduled by external scheduler. third party (command line).as the plan includes also the schedules, how to avoid to have both schedule running, the goal is to disable the schedule on Commvault side. When using storage policies, no problem, we just create a Storage policy without a plan assoociate to it. Thanks !

I've been in IT since the early 90s with a focus on SAN, NAS and Object storage, but I'm relatively new to Commvault administration and engineering.I've recently joined a team tasked with migrating our backup environment to new hardware, including Nutanix. While I'm eager to learn, the lack of existing architecture planning and the potential for misconfiguration have me concerned (most of the CV people we have are admin not engineers). Hope things are going well!**Sorry, there is a wrong title of topic  → we need to migrate from LTO8M to LTO8**I am coming to you with a question.We were using LTO8 tapes in our storage policies, then due to savings someone decided to start using LTO8M… now all recent backups are written on LTO8M And we do have some older backup on LTO8 and some on LTO8M:What we need to do is to have all those date on LTO8 due to some compatibility problems. So my question is - is there a way to migrate those data from LTO8M to LTO8 within this one particular copy? We have calculated and to store all data we would need around 100 new tapes of LTO8, but about half data is already on LTO8 tapes.  We thought about creating a new synchronous policy, but it will require all data to be rewritten on new LTO8 tapes, we would like to avoid that because we already do have part of data on LTO8. I would be glad if you have any tips which might avoid us buying unnecessary amount of new tapes.
