I deleted a company, and all associated laptops were also deleted. I performed a commserve restoration, which recovered the clients in the commserve, but the agents on the laptops are still missing. Is there a solution to recover the agents on the laptops without reinstalling them?

I installed Metallic Edge Monitor from our IT service center. I’m on an ARM2 macbook running 14.4.1 When I start up Edge Monitor, and go to the icon, it briefly, for a fraction of a section flashes a login, only to be replaced by “Activation in Progress” which never seems to change, even after hours!  Does anyone have any explanation for this?  How do you think I can fix this?  I can’t tell you the version of Edge Monitor, because the icon is unresponsive (except for Quit).

Hi All,We are configuring GFS disk to disk to tape (different tape media). 1: first storage policy will configure daily Inc and weekly full for first disk keep 7 days 2: first disk daily Inc and weekly Full go to auxiliary copy of second disk keep 28 days3: second disk daily Inc auxiliary copy of daily tape media keep 28 days4: second disk weekly Full auxiliary copy of weekly tape media keep 28 days5: second disk Full (end of month) auxiliary copy of monthly tape media keep 12 monthsRefer another vendor GFS, if weekly full backup day same as monthly, backup execute monthly only. May we know Commvault could setup this? May we know Commvault must keep both weekly and monthly if same day?Best regards

We have vm's that by accident got the file system agent, when i try to unistall it from the commcell it automatically selects sql agent. is there a way to uninstall the file system agent without deleting the sql agent?

Sql always on Full backup being taken from primary server but  log backup being taken  from standby server at every 15 minutes .Job finished succesfully  but.This  causes problems in log shrink and sql log folder overgrowing How do I ensure that the log backup is taken from the Primary SQL. server

Can you please explain me why there is a space - but the same time it is occupied on disk?  

Just as example with a daily full backup to keep it simple…In case you have a 4 days retention, but the backup keeps failing for a week, will all backup data still be there? Or will it all be expired? Thanks :) Maurice

While attempting to initiate backup procedures, I observed that while I could back up the entire virtual machine (VM), I encountered difficulty in selecting specific files and folders when creating the VM group.In my Azure Stack HCI environment, VMs are deployed, and my objective is to exclusively back up files and folders rather than the entire VM. Please refer to the image below for context.We have followed this document foradding the HCI environment. https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/essential/adding_azure_stack_hci_hypervisor.htmlCould you kindly provide guidance on whether it's possible to back up only files and folders within VMs which are on Azure stack hci ? If so, could you please provide the necessary documentation for configuring this feature? 

New vCentre added and unfortunately the account used to add into Commvault had visibility and admin rights over the entire inventory and not a specific folder as required. When a “Refresh datacentres, discover VM’s” action was performed every single VM appeared in the VM list. A subsequent modification adjusted the permissions on the account to limit it to the required folders and a repeat of the process did not reduce the VM count.I have now retired and deleted the vCentre object and the VM’s remain :-( Is there a scheduled clean up process to resolve this issue?  There was a single test VM group with a single VM and that was deleted before retiring the vcentre. I was hoping removing the vCentre and re-adding it would resolve the plethora of VM’s we do not want in the inventory.

I had 2 disks go bad in my local iSCSI SAN late last week. I have multiple mount paths attached to it from Commvault. The array has since been repaired, and the RAID rebuilt successfully, but I continue to get these errors, and my concern is there is some disk corruption on the drive(s). The mount paths are formatted in Windows as ReFS. I tried running scandisk, but it’s not available on ReFS, but I could use the Refsutil to scan and fix the drive if necessary.I’m seeing the errors on Aux Copy jobs, which is interesting, cause all my Aux Copies are sending data to Azure, not the local SAN. Not sure if that matters or not.Any thoughts on where to go from here? 

Hellogood day. my first post here.i am unable to discover my Media Agent from my Commserve and it seems like the only “client” affected by this. obviously this has disrupted backup jobs of other clients. these are the things I have confirmed to be working:I can ping the servers interchangeably.i can RDP into both servers from the other.traceroute also was positive. i have disabled local firewall on both servers. So there aren’t any ports being blocked. From the console, the media agent readiness check failed, and the repositories are offline.a Cvping across on both servers Via ports 8400 and 8403 were successful. What could have gone wrong here?I need help.

I have VM backup configured at vCenter level.I do have separate service account configured to access the vCenter and it does have Admin level permissions.Now, i do see that the service account do have interactive login enabled.Is it ok to disable the interactive login?will it disrupt any work functionality if disabled?I do see from Knowledge base articles that the account should have Admin level permissions and then we are good to go.Just need this doubt to be clarified before I disable the interactive login.

Question on pre-installed SQL server To be Use Only by CommvaultI would like to ask anyone who has installed Commvault Commserver with the SQL server, SQL Management studio preinstalled prior.I have a couple of questions/concern:1.  Will this impact the use of CS recovery assistant tool?2.What do I need to do to ensure/configure that CS recovery assistant will have no problem working if I ever need to use it?3.  What do I need to ensure/configure to ensure that the DR backup will function as is with this kind of setup?Any thoughts, tips and magic tricks you can suggest. 

Dear Commvault,We have a requirement for Oracle DB backup with wallet.I checked from documentation that Commvault can automatically backup the wallet during the database backup.So, I assume that restore process, for database and wallet, will be also automatically from Commvault wizard.But, what about in case of RMAN restore from a DBA?How will be able to restore the database without having the wallet?Please for your feedback,Nikos

I’ve been discussing a topic with a Commvault user of an issue they are having. They do not use Commvault deduplication for their backups as they are writing to an array with deduplication. They are now looking to create a Secondary Copy of their data to replicate to Scality Ring. However, my concern is they are going to run into the same problem they did when they tested Air Gap Protect - the secondary copy inherits the primary copy’s compression settings (not enabled), so the deduplication performance is not where we would anticipate it to be.If that’s the case, is there any other feature out there that would allow them to write both a non-deduplicated copy (primary) and a deduplicated copy (secondary) with different compression settings? Documentation makes it look like you can change the settings for a Storage Policy Copy, but I believe it is only referencing the Primary Storage Policy Copy as the top level explicitly states the compression settings for Aux Copies adheres to the Pr

Hi,I have a case about backing up and Restoring the emojis we use in the Microsoft teams chats. The documantation states that it is possible but as far as i know, i can only restore video, sound, images, gifs, stickers and also emojis that is on the phone keyboard, which is accesible on mobile  - not the ones that are on the microsoft teams interface-It is visible to see that commvault has received the message data that has the emoji but i cannot see it. It is only a blank message blob.

I checked these jobs again on the secondary copy (for tapes) where Extended Retention is, but for BigDataApps there is no job with Extended Retention. In addition, I checked each JobID separately and the "Retain Until" and "Retained by" columns have N/A, in Job Details the "Job Retention" tab is greyed out. For all these tasks to let them work i delete the aged job manually.

Hello dears  im facing a weird issue regarding redhat virtualization backup client configuration is ok, proxy VM is located on the RHEV backup was performing ok but, suddenly  an issue while backing up the VMs most of the VMs failed to back up with the below error Unknown VMInfo error [0] reported  from VMinfo for [VM name ]  i have checked the vsbkp log but couldn’t find a clear error cvfwd log does not have any errors. CS version 11.32.23assistance is appreciated, thanks 

I have created a workflow to configure Azure NetApp NAS Storage Backupnow i am calling this workflow from VRA/VRO through REST API , VRA/VRo teams wants more details on response after executing the workflow with the success staus of the client configurationAs of now VRA/VRO receives on the workflow execution job ID, after rest api call.  VRA admin needs to have more details send back to VRA as response , like the workflow execution staus, client creation status. How i can achieve this ?
