Hello Dear AWS Team,Did you have plan the support of TAG in MongoDB Cloud Atlas ? MongoDB is providing Ressource Tag, the idea to use as Backup association for PLAN will be greatly helpfulThx
Hi. We are using your api to automate our usage of commvault.Commvault version 11.40, cvpysdk 11.40A few days ago, we submitted a job to restore a VMWare virtual server, calling /v2/vsa/vm/{vm_uuid}/recover endpoint with the following arguments:{ 'powerOnVmAfterRestore': True, 'passUnconditionalOverride': True, 'inPlaceRestore': True, 'newName': {vm_name} } The job is created, and then ultimately failed due to media agent misbehaving. Our internal resource is investigating that front, while I deal with the following issue. In Command Center → vm detail → jobs section, we see that the job in question has the status of “Failed”: Yet if we go into the job detail page by clicking on the job id, the status becomes “Completed”And using cvpysdk to get the job, the returned object shows status being complete as well:Why is there a discrepancy? Apart from the almost-equivalent “/job?jobFilter=restore&clientId=4302” endpoint that we cannot us
I need a user which has the permission to enable/disable scheduler and kill/suspend jobs in the job controller. My problem is that I can’t select only the commserve as Association in the user group. The user shouldn’t be able to see more than the commserve object.I can only select every entity, see in the following screenshot: I added the following permissions:Does anyone has a solution for thsi issue?
Hi Commvault Community,I’m searching for a precise method to export all job IDs that “live” in every Disk / Cloud Library in our Commcell environment. From a previous case, Commvault support mentioned that the recommended way is by querying the Deduplication Policy DDB (from the CommCell Console, under Storage Resources > Deduplication Engines, then view Jobs).Question:Is there a command line tool (like qoperation, qlist, or REST API) that can export all job IDs from a DDB (including Files, Databases & VMs Deduplication Stores)? instead of manually exporting jobs manually from the GUI?The goal is somehow to automate these reports for audits, analytics, or targeted operations (such as clean-up, reporting etc). Please for your feedback.Nikos
Hello,We are testing Two-Factor Authentication on Commvault Platform Release 11.36.83.Configuration:- Two-Factor Authentication enabled at CommCell level- Microsoft Authenticator configured and tested successfully for local admin user- Email based OTP working correctly- Windows Integrated Authentication enabled for domain users Test scenario:1. Email OTP enabled → Login via CommCell Console works (password + TOTP appended)2. Email OTP disabled (enabled "Do not send email with PIN for two-factor authentication")3. Attempt login via CommCell Console using: password + current TOTP code (Microsoft Authenticator)Result:Login fails with "Invalid username/password"Questions:Is Microsoft Authenticator (TOTP) supported as the only second factor for CommCell Console login, without email based OTP enabled Is email based OTP required for CommCell Console login? Is this expected product behavior or a configuration issue?Thank you.
Hello Commvault Community,I am currently working with Commvault version 11.42 and testing backup and recovery features for OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt).I have seen information stating that file-level restore for OpenShift Virtualization is not supported, but I have not been able to find this limitation officially documented.Could you please confirm whether file-level restore for VMs running on OpenShift Virtualization is indeed not supported in Commvault 11.42?If this is correct, can you share an official Commvault documentation link where this limitation is mentioned?Having this clarification and documentation would help us properly communicate the capabilities to our teams and customers.
Dear community,I have an issue after migration from Windows 11.36.49 to Linux 11.36.49 , the Vault Tracker reports is currently empty :No tape from the location appear in the “Due backup for reuse” report while 7 tapes get a status “Now” on the “Due back for reuse on” field from list of media : On the vault tracking report with broader criteria, I get the following message : Please, what do I have to checkBest regards,Gilles
I am receiving the following error in the backup of a Hyper-V VMError code: [91:148]Description: There are too many existing backup snapshots on virtual machine [ServerName]. Backup snapshots are being cleaned up, but manual intervention may be required to ensure that all snapshots are removed. This may indicate that the storage is unable to keep up with the I/O activity of the virtual machine during a backup.Source: cs0003, Process: JobManagerWhen I look in Hyper-V Manager, I see no checkpoints for this server, so I’m unsure how to resolve this. I assume it’s possible it may resolve itself over time, but this has come up the last 2 backup cycles.
Hi Guys, just want to know, whether it is a bug or a feature, that the Workflow Activity ExecuteCommand changes the value of the input parameter command ?I tried to create a Workflow that executes commands on a linux client. If the command ends on .exe (funny), the program suffix is automatically removed by the WorkFlow,As a result, the executable is not found. As a workaround, I created a symbolic link pointing to the .exe file having the same name, but without the suffix. The Workflow does, what is expected, but I wonder why the program is altered at all.this happens in my environment running on V11.40rgdsKlaus
Hi Team,We are currently using Metallic for Microsoft 365 with 100 licensed users.Recently, 10 users left the organization. We have: Deleted those users from Exchange Online Released their licenses from Metallic Reassigned the licenses to new users We would like to confirm how long the backup data of the deleted (former) users will be retained in Metallic after license release.Kindly confirm the retention period applicable in this scenario.
Hello Community and Happy New Year!In a client, we have a primary storage policy using a Disk Library (DDB). Needed also a tape out (copy-2). The HPE tape library is already configured and accessible via MediaAgent. For these auxiliary copies (Copy-2) to tape, we need to create two distinct groups: Weekly backups with 4 weeks retention Monthly backups with infinite retention What is the recommended best practice?Stick with the default storage pool for both aux copy types (and rely on retention rules/scheduling to differentiate)? Or create two dedicated storage pools (e.g., "Weekly_Tape_Pool" and "Monthly_Tape_Pool"), assign specific tapes/drive pools to each, and configure the aux copy operations/rules to target the appropriate pool based on backup frequency? Also, it’s important the tapes to remain strictly separated, no mixing of weekly and monthly data on the same tapes! Thanks in advance for your insights and real-world experience!Best regards,Nikos
Hello Commvault Community, Do you have any news about problems using the AllowUnsetComplianceLockOnDRCopy key for SP36?The ability to remove the Compliance Lock for the Primary copy within the CommServeDR StoragePolicy works for lower (SP32 for example) and higher (SP40 for example) Service Packs.I currently have a case where this key doesn't work in three lab environments (SP36).It's added at the global level for the entire environment (CommCell level) and is set to true: When I go to the CommServeDR policy, the option to remove the lock does appear, but after accepting the warning and closing the window with "OK," it doesn't load this setting and back to the previous setting. And after closing: Any idea what is going on? Thanks in advance!Kind Regards,Kamil
Microsoft Teams Chat Backup Update Microsoft has made changes to how chat backup is billed and managed through the Teams Export API. As part of this update, Microsoft has stopped metering and billing for the Export API, which previously required manual configuration for chat data protection. 🧭 What This Means for Commvault UsersThe former Teams Chat Backup Settings option has been retired. With Microsoft’s change, Commvault now enables the Export API by default, ensuring 1:1 (user) chats are automatically supported in Commvault SaaS without additional setup. Channel chat: Supported through Free Protected APIs User chat: Supported automatically via the Export API Status: Implemented and active by defaultReference of the Settings [Chat backup settings] 💡 Why This MattersThis update simplifies chat protection and ensures seamless integration with Microsoft Teams without added licensing complexity. Commvault continues to align with Microsoft’s evolving API framework to maintain reliabl

It has no mention at all of the names of both the primary and the secondary
Hi all, has CommVault released install videos for CommServe on Linux with volume group and partitioning of Rocky Linux (11.40) by any chance? thanks Jules
Hello Experts,In recent research I saw that CBT is now available for Oracle OCI, also Metallic is supporting VSA with CBT enabled. Not sure if this capability is available for CommVault Cloud Software, can you help me with this question? Kind Regards.JT
I’m trying to script a process to automate my restore testing of SQL Server database backups from Commvault. The process will one-by-one restore each production database from all of my production servers to a utility server where I can run checkdb and other validation processes against the database and log the results. I’m doing this all through powershell and using the Commvault powershell module RESTORE-CVSQLDATABASE to do the restore with the -OutofPlace flag and the other needed paramaters to tell it where to restore. So far it works fine as long as the original database data file directory and log file directories match my utility server. Not so fine when they don’t. It will throw an error in Commvault saying that it cannot find the datafile directory (H:\MSSQL\Data…..etc). Of course there is no H drive on my utility server but that should be taken care of with the -DataFilePath "E:\MSSQL\Data" -LogFilePath "F:\MSSQL\Log" parameters I’ve passed in right? Here’s the actual sy
Hi,I understand that recently compliance lock is available for disk whereas originally it was for S3 specifically. While I don’t see the option to enable it via Command Center, in the console tape copy properties have the Compliance Lock box to check. So my question is - enabling this on tape copies is or isn’t supported? thanks
Good morning,We are experiencing an issue with our Commvault environment related to copying data to tape, and I am hoping someone can help explain the behavior or suggest a fix.Currently, our Commvault system is configured to take weekly FULL backups of all file shares and VMs every Thursday. Once these full backups complete, they automatically copy to tape. This process itself works as expected. The problem is the volume of data being written to tape. Each week, I have to manually update the Copy Policy “From Date” to the Monday of the current week to ensure that only the most recent data is copied. If I forget to do this, the amount of data copied to tape increases significantly. For example:January 2026 Week 1: I set the copy date to Monday 5th January. On Thursday, approximately 100 TB is written to tape (usually completing by the following Wednesday). Week 2: I forget to update the date. On Thursday, it again attempts to copy around 100 TB. Week 3: I forget to update the date aga
Hi Guys,We are planning to upgrade our Commserve from 11.28 to 11.40 Version. Our Commserve is on a physical server. What should be the roll backup plan if the upgrade activity encounters an issue? Can we use the 11.28 version DR backup set on another machine while installing 11.40 version instead of using manual upgrade package? In case of Commserver upgrade failure, can we use DR backup file generated from 11.28 version and use the same file to rebuild commserver from 11.40 package on same machine? Or we need another machine(physical/virtual). (Can this be treated as a rollback plan?) If upgrade fails in between, will registries and binaries get corrupted or will they get updated or remain the same. Do we need to upgrade Index from V1 to V2 before upgrade as this all is running in 11.28(point to be noted, we are using Tapes as primary storage and disk backup is only used for commserver dr backup which happens on commserver itself.) Will content indexing get any problems since this is
Hi,I need to update the Commvault server to the specified version, but the server is offline.Which packages or software kits do I need to download? Thanks
Hello All: It seems that CV is moving in a Rocky Linux direction, so I thought it would be good to replace my Windows MA’s with Rocky. However, after chatting with Arlie it’s not supported for a Linux MA to backup Windows FS data (NetApp - NTFS vol). It can backup via NFS, however it will loose the ACLs.I have for years used Windows to backup Linux volumes, so it would seem logical it could work in reverse.Thoughts?Dan
Hi! Are there any plans to support single-server Exchange clients in Command Center? We are trying to switch from Java GUI to CC with new customers, but there is always something missing… Btw, how do you guys handle situations like this? Switching between consoles can be very confusing, especially for new users.Thanks.
Hi All, there was an option in the cloud.comvmault.com webconsole portal to use the staging feature. The DR Backup was uploaded and than an cs with restored db was created. An link with login credentials was provided. Now over the command center i dont see this option any more. Is it gone ? thanks for help
Hi All,I need some guidance on the best backup type to use for our domain controllers on azure vms. We are in the process of setting up a service account for the active directory granular recovery, however as for the VM it self what is the best Virtual machine backup type to use ? The options within the VM group configuration are as follows; Application AwareUses in guest application plug-ins to assist the Virtual Server Agent quiescing and providing granular application level recoverability.File System and application consistentUses VM restore point to perform a point-in-time application consistent snapshot of all the managed disks of the VM.Crash consistentUses Microsoft Azure software snapshot to allow a basic backup of the virtual machine.Application-based backupsPerforms application discovery and configures backups by installing an in-guest agent.
