sandbox not reachable when accessed through commandcenter (different machine than the commserve)

Hello Team, We have a linux Commserve and a commandcenter on version 11.34. Dashboard Overview Issues after Update

We recently updated our two Commserve’s to 11.32.65. In both CommandCenter’s the “Jobs in the last 24 hours” tile now seems to not reflect the correct number of jobs for each category. I monitored the failed jobs the last days and it always stated 0 although when I go into the list of failed jobs it is not empty. The other minor issue I noticed in only one of the CommandCenter’s is that the Health-tile is loading indefinitely. The Health report itself is working fine as far as I can tell. Is there something I can do to reset the dashboard to fix these issues? Thanks in advance!

Commvault Air Gap Implementation

Dear Community, We are Planning to deploy Data Isolation / Air Gap ( Primary is in On Prem ) for a secondary site in on Prem. Logically isolation DC is my 3rd Site and sending the secondary copy from DC1, DC2 to my DC3( isolation site). We are Planning to enable the AIRGAP between my Primary Site and new DC. I have found one article from Commvault ( attaching here ) Please let me know if any additional information and share us the best practices and use cases if any for such configurations.

Wrong MongoDB version ?

Hi all, we upgraded to the latest release 11.36.33 (from 11.32) and, according to this documentation page (https://kb.commvault.com/article/54270) we should have MongoDB 7.0...but if I check the MongoDB instance that is running now on the commserve, I got release number 6.0.14. Do you have any idea why there is this mismatch ? Regards Gianluca

Backup of azure SQL managed instances

Good morning, I want to set up a backup of SQL managed instances, does anyone have experience with that? What I heard is that because we run on SP32 commvault that there is a limit of 200GB per DB. Is that true? Because configuration and starting of backup I get an error message that DB cannot be exported. I use the following configuration: For Cloud authentication: Entra ID account with access to storage accountFor sql authentication: sql admin account with sysadmin roleApp registration created with access to the storage account. Correct steps for ending/retiring backups

I thought I had this previously, but it’s not working as expected. I have a VM that has been replaced. The VM still exists, though eventually I’ll delete it an associated files. So I’d like to stop the backup process. My initial understanding is that you stop the process and then backups are retained until the retention time is reached. What I did was went into the option and chose to RETIRE. However, the VM is still being backed up. There’s also an option that says Do not back up. So I’m confused. What are my correct stops here to stop backing up and ultimately remove this device?

Incorrect credential api response

It seems that the api to GET the credential returns endpoint with a different key as compare to what is expected by PUT api for updating the credential . API : /commandcenter/api/v5/credential/:credentialid Even from the document the key name is different from what is returned. As you can see from actual output , we get extra “Endpoint” in the key name. This results the automation of GET and PUT request , to remove the endpoint completely . I agree that we can modify it in the automation before hitting PUT , but I still feel this is a BUG. Any one faces / observed this issue ?

How to use access token generated in the web portal in API calls?

Hello, I created an access token in the CV portal via “Security->Users->Access tokens->Add token” and the “Scope” was selected to “All”. However, when i tried to use the access token to send an API request like below, the server returned “Missing or invalid authorization header!”. GET /v4/fileservers HTTP/1.1Accept: application/jsonAuthorization: Bearer QSDK <access token generated in the portal>Host: api.metallic.ioConnection: keep-alive Appreciate if anyone knows how to use the access token.

Hello, I am interested in upgrading Sp to the 11.36. What are the current pros and cons of? When switching to the new SP, do you also have to switch to the PLAN or will the older police continue to work?

Hi, I have installed this agent for one of my customers,Everything is working fine. I have two questions :1- Is FS is preferable over VTL ?2- What is the purpose of the SubClient "DR Subclient" ? Is it the equivalent of the Save Entire Sys functionality on the IBM i ? Someone has a how-to on configuring this subclient and what it involved running it ? My knowledge of AS400 is none ! (I'm doing the Commvault side and the customer is doing the AS400 side !) Thank you

Hi! We recently deployed 2 HyperScale X Reference Architecture clusters at a customer, and found out that: Ransomware Protection is not enabled by default Linux Firewall is not enabled by default In my opinion, in current times, it is strange that by default the solution is so insecure. Why are the firewall and ransomware protection not enabled by default? And will that be addressed in a future release?

Does Commvault support 100 GbE, 200GbE and 400 GbE Network for HyperScale X reference arcitecture and commserver.On a 400G network, what is the maximum backup speed achievable? Can we reach 40GB/sec? Would using multi-streaming or multiplexing across the mount points help in achieving this speed?

db2 restore slow on Hyperscale X reference-based architecture

after shifting from hyperscale 1.5 to hyperscale X our db2 restore taking longer time. open ticket with support they reviewing and found it’s known issue for read fragmentation drops on cvfs during so requested to upgrade the CVFS version so we upgraded to CVFS version along OS patch upgrade but after that issue not resolved and request to move the ticket to development any one faces similar issue like reading data from hyperscale X. I run the mount path validation for check throughput and getting 70MB/s read throughput even the same throughput i got once i run the CVperformance tool.

Compliance Search - Unable to Login to Website

Like the title says, I am no longer to login with my AD credentials to my compliance search site. I can log into the CommVault Console with the same credentials I am attempting to login with to the compliance search site. I have used this site for years and no issues. Not sure what happened or where to look. I’ve verified in the condole: Security>Domains>*my domain* is working. No AD account configured can log into the Compliance Search piece. Any ideas where to look for an answer?

SQL Backup Storage Policy Configuration: Best Practice vs. Real-World Constraints

Hi Everyone, Quick question – we’ve got SQL backups set up with Data and Logs pointing to different storage policies. Commvault support advised against it, saying that restores could fail if one MediaAgent is offline because the Full backup depends on the Tlog backup. Curious to know – is anyone here running separate policies for SQL backups? How do you handle the risk? Or is it just better to have both on the same storage policy? Also, any thoughts on using the "Honor SQL Chaining for Full Jobs" setting as a workaround? Would love to hear from anyone who’s dealt with this. Any gotchas here please? Thank you!

How to change retention period for Office 365 Online Exchange (data aging disabled for special clients)

Hi Commvault Experts! Please advise us on how to change the retention period for the Office 365 Online Exchange. I have noticed that the retention period specified in the classical storage policy for Exchange Online 365 is not being followed. Indeed, I can see in the Data Retention Forecast and Compliance report that Data Aging is disabled for special clients. We attempted to adjust the Office 365 Plan: Standard Office 365 Mailbox retention policy—Received Time-Based Retention (under Policies → Configuration Policies → Exchange Policies in the Commvault Java Console)—but it didn’t help. After running data aging, old data is still present in the primary backup storage. In the Command Center, we couldn’t find an option to change the retention period—perhaps because a server plan type is being used instead of an Office 365 plan? In general, how can we remove old data that isn’t aged due to Data Aging being disabled for special clients—in our case, the Office 365 Exchange client? Where can

Skip agent backups for unreachable machines

I have tried searching, but with search terms I keep getting looped back to topics covering snapshot backups and filters. If a VM has an agent installed, (therefore not taking VM/Snapshot backups) but is powered off in VMWare….is there a way to have it skip backing up the machine (or do something else like fail earlier, throw an alert, or something else you might suggest)? The issue is we have alot of machines where we are just not told to stop backing them up from the team that owns them, and just don’t want to reach out every time we see a job stuck in pending because it can’t be reached. Trying to free up resources to research actual problems, and not mask actual connection issues. We don’t want to manually disable machines that might be powered off for some temporary issue. I understand snapshot backups can filter by powered off, but these are machines that have reasons to have an agent installed and can’t utilize snapshots. running commserve v11.32.38 Thanks!

Azure App identifier was not found in the directory

My OneDrive backups have stopped working because the five App / Secret Key combinations I had set up expired. I created new App / Secret keys and deleted the old expired ones from in Azure. I then signed on to CommandCenter, navigated to Protect > Office 365 > OneDrive_V2 > Configuration, added the new App / secret key values and deleted the old. When I click “Verify connection”, I get: The application wasn’t found in the directory/tenant. ErrorCode: AADSTS700016 Does anyone know where the problem is?

"Multi-tier" setup/restore at offline remote site?

We currently have an old (v11.20) setup with the Commserve at a central location, and multiple mediaagents with local iSCSI SAN at remote sites.As we’re about to do a major overhaul since both SW and HW support are expiring this year, there is a wishlist item that I haven’t so far figured out if CommVault can provide:If a remote site goes offline, we want local personell there to be able to perform restores. We would still like to gather all backups at the central location(s) though, and have centralized overview and control when everything is running normally… So the question is: Can this be done? I’ve tried browsing docs and whitepapers etc. but haven’t found anything that seemed relevant - can you have server tiers with (limited) local autonomy but still have central management and control? Please also note that our whole environment is very much closed off to the outside world, so any form of cloud service etc. is a hard no.
