Hello Community, I’m looking for answer on the differences in the documentation for Commvault versions SP24 and SP28, and how these CV SP versions handle the deletion of previous versions of objects in S3 immutable storage.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/9251_configuring_worm_storage_mode_on_cloud_storage.htmlhttps://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/9251_configuring_worm_storage_mode_on_cloud_storage.html#1 According to the documentation, in version SP24, we are required to create a lifecycle rule to clean up previous versions of deleted objects.  But in Commvault SP28, this step ('before we begin tasks’) is not mentioned in the documentation. Does that mean in SP28, When we create a new immutable bucket with Object Lock enabled, Amazon S3 will not automatically enables versioning for the bucket or we do not need to enable versioning in order to enable object lock ? Or versioning still require in or

Short question: when VM/server* (vmware) will be excluded from be counted inside license capacity report ? situation A)VM is NOT client in CV. It was just backuped by vmware subclient trough last year and now follow rules is excluded from next vmware backups.  situation B)VM was & is client in CV as  beside to above vmware backup it was also MS SQL (agent) backup done for  it . It it not  backuped by vmware anymore but is still part of MS SQL (agent) backup 

Oracle Archive Log Backups are backed up to a storage policy.  The primary copy’s retention is configured for 30 days with 0 cycles.  The Data Retention Forecast and Compliance Report shows the Archive log is required by the RMAN Full backup which has been aux copied from a primary copy (Disk Library) to a secondary copy (Tape Library).  The Secondary Copy retention is 7 years. I would like for the Log Backup on Disk to follow the primary copy retention of 30 days and expire once 30 days have been met, however it is not expiring since itis required by the Full backup on tape with the longer retention. I had a similar issue with SQL backups where the log backups were not expiring because the log backups were required for the SQL full that had been aux copy to tape with a long 7 year retention.  The setting to correct this behavior is under Storage → Media Management Configuration → Data Aging → and disabling <Honor SQL Chaining for Full jobs on Selectiv

Could someone tell me what the feature is called that keeps the backup admins from being able to access the data being backed up?

CS Version 11.24.78Issue: User ad object was deleted from AD and then deleted from Commvault. Hi, Getting the error below on of our AUX copies - any ideas please? ‘data mover module received data from a client that is not currently backed up by this module’ We’re also getting: ‘Error occurred while processing chunk’

So we have pretty spread out Commvault infrastructure with number of components installed. Excuse me but I am not backup admin or Commvault expert so trying to get my head around this.Commvault version is 11.24.7 which is pretty far behind i believe and hence needs update.What I am having difficulty is things that I need to update apart from Commvault server and it’s DB itself. Already planning updating Commvault to newer version along with SQL DB. But when it comes to media agents, VSA proxies, Exchange agents etc. it gets confusing. When I look at Commcell Console and pull report for Configuration and select Media Agents tab I see many media agents. But when I login to web console and run report for Software Version I see less number of Media Agents. Same server but accessing it differently. Hi there I wondered if anyone has come across this issue.I get the following error when trying to launch commcell via the java app. This has only recently started failing.

I have a query currently that returns a subclient policy ID, but I cannot for the life of me find an association table get the name of the subclient policy.  

According to the documentation, Data aging can be performed on a storage policy with synchronous and/or selective copies defined. Data is aged according to the primary copy retention rule only when all data eligible to be aged is copied to all active copies during an auxiliary copy operation.What happens in terms of Data Aging when a secondary copy is disabled?   

Hi, I tried to perform a an upgrade of Commvault from 11.20 on server 2012 to a different VM on server 2019 running version 11.28 and SQL 2019.  I installed and try to recover from the old database. I am getting an error in the CSRecoveryAssistant file log,  Error: License activation is required. Please provide a valid license file.I am confused as I backed up my existing environment. How can I get past this as the Install is dependant on me clearing this error?   

Hello Team,Here is the setup information,OS type: SLES12Affected DB version: v11 and v13 4 nodes running on streaming replication method (SYNC). Scenario: We have 4 node cluster running on SYNC replication method with cluster_name parameter configured on each data nodes (like node1 → cluster_name=’node1’) and so on.Now that, we have successfully taken the backup along with some archive logs. Backups are ran from primary (node1). We performed all the pre-reqs before we started the restoration on node1. Restoration went fine without any warnings, however we happen to see that the restored postgresql.conf on node1 had below entry,cluster_name='node2' where we expect it to have 'node1’ Kindly check and confirm this behavior. Regards,Kamal

Hi all,I would like to discuss with you following issue. There is an issue with backing up of VM machines.Hence, there are strange warnings such as Metadata colletion failed for virtual machine, Guest file browse will not be available for this virtual machine, Used space calculation for volume and VM is not possible, as this is only supported for ntfs volumes, File system metadata collecgtion is not supported for (Unknown) volumeIt seems that all vmware backup jobs are very slow...my guess is that there is something bad with vmware environment itself. There is nbd transport mode used as auto option. Have you ever seen any simillar issue? Where to start troubleshooting? 

Hi,We are currently having an issue with a Linux Proxy that is running RHEL 8.x.We used to have a Linux proxy running RHEL 7 that was being used to mount snapshots from other RHEL 7 clients and copy them over to the disk library.As we rolled out new RHEL 8 clients, we wanted to set up a Linux Proxy running RHEL 8.x.The Snapshot copy phase works fine and we can see the snapshots on the storage. Hi,i have 3 Windows Server 2016 recovered with FileAgent incl. Systemstate……After succesfull recovery i restart the server and now the server runs in automatic repair.Is there a solution to solve that?RegardsDennis

Hi,I need to bulk restore hundreds of small jobs with some kind of batch or CLI.What do you think is the best way to achieve this?It should be as automated as possible. There are only about 6 Windows sublients, but around 1200 jobs. Every job is from 1 single day.Restored data should go into some kind of automatically created directory structure on a SMB share with one folder for each date.I saw there is the button with “save as script” to get a script for a starting point. But I thought there is maybe another better solution. I saw there is also a Python SDK for Commvault.What do you think?  

Hello, is it correct that the report “Merge Duplicate VM Clients” shows only duplicated VMs?Some time ago I was able to see all duplicates:VM - VM VM - FileSystemNow the report doesn’t show duplicate VM - FileSystem clients, in the console I can see them.Tested on 11.28.37 / 11.24.69 with the APP from Download. What would be the way to identify duplicate VM - FileSystem clients?Merge only by CLI?  ThanksSergej

right now, I have backups to disk. and once a month, backup to tape as well.The indexServer backups follow the same storage policy and will write to tape as well, but often it will just use a new tape from the scratch pool and ‘waste’ a few tapes for very little data.I would prefer to consolidate all indexServer backups to a single tape in a different scratch pool.That way, our monthly offsiting will include only one index tape instead of multiple index tapes with barely any content.I’ve created a seperate scratch pool with the appropriate barcode pattern, but how do I configure the index backups to use that scratch pool?

I have a SAP HANA Client named HANA_CQN which was previously using an old storage policy named SP_Tier2. I created a new storage policy named StgP-Tier2-ECDC and I migrated my SAP HANA Client to this new storage policy by changing all the Storage Device Storage Policy Property settings to this new storage policy. But when I view the Properties for the old storage policy SP_Tier2 under the Associated Subclients tab, I see that the SAP HANA Client named HANA_CQN still appears in the diagram. The diagram indicates that the client is still associated with the old storage policy because of the fact that it belongs to two Client Computer Groups. But looking at the properties of the two Client Computer Groups, one group involves an automatic association query of 5 storage policies including the 2 storage policies in this case. While the other client group is an individual manual addition. And as such, there doesn’t seem to be a direct connection between the Client Computer Gr

Hi there, Two days back with my seniors, I created a disk storage but unforeseen disabled deduplication. After giving artefacts to my client for that disk storage, they are asking today to enable deduplication but now I am not getting option to toggle deduplication button to enable except delete disk storage. And production data written onto it in the two days.We tried using command center. How can we enable deduplication for future backup data. Is it possible? Please advise. Hari

Hi, We’re planning to use Commvault with on-prem disk storage that has the WORM feature enabled. At this moment, we know that when using WORM on the storage side, Commvault WORM must be also configured (WORM Copy property). I had an open Incident 221229-281 to describe additional settings. The support reply is to run a workflow, but this is specific to Storage Pools. That is not our case. We’re planning to use WORM with Secondary Copies with deduplication. We can’t use Storage Pools right now, because we already have some copies bound with a Global Deduplication Policy. What other settings do we need to? Below I have a list of things that need to be done.Could you confirm if is this correct and add something to it if necessary? Check WORM Copy property  Disable the CV
