I followed the procedure described on the documentation and noticed that the command ./cvsecurity.py enable_protection -i InstanceIDdidn’t add SELinux context to one of our mount points. This mount point hold a valid mount path from Commvault. I think a tab character between “timeout” value and the last two “fields” (fs_freq and fs_passno) messed up things.     I ran the command again and the Commvault command skipped all of the mount points. Do I have to add it manually?

Hi, i have more tape mark FULL, but if I see the contents, tape have more data expired and only 3gb not expired!It’s correct that tape remains FULL until everything data has expired?I can work around the problem configuring Media refresh? if this is solution i see on my copy of storage policy and the flag on tag media “Enable media refresh” are greyed out!!Thanks

Hello all, I have an auxiliary copy with deduplication running to a Glacier and i would like to run a DDB Verification on it, just to see an estimate cost for future verifications.What i would like to know is how do i use the workflow Cloud Storage Archive Recall for every job id that is referenced in that DDB, since in the workflow window it makes me choose a backup job id. Kind regards,Jmiamaral 

Hi Guys, I hope everybody is fine !So I ran a health report on my Commserve and on the “DDB Performance and Status” section in the “readiness” column, it shows: Needs resync.When I try to resynchronize the DDBs from Storage Resources→ Deduplication Engines,  the “Synchronize All DDBs” is grayed out.The DDB status is showing active.Does it mean that as long as it is online I can’t run the synchronization, or I missed something? Thanks !

Hello guys, We plan to upgrade the CommServe from SP16 to SP24 with a hardware refresh (Install it on a new server).We’ve found the procedure on the documentation, but one of the steps got us confused. On the “Preparing the Old CommServe Computer for Shutdown” in step 4, it is stating that we have to install the latest Commvault Service Pack.   Does that mean that we have also to upgrade the old CS (Actual CS that is running) which is now SP16 to SP24 before installing the SP24 on the new server ? Kind regards.

Hello Community, We have a VTL configured, which backups are saved to it, we want to decommission the VTL while preserving the data backed up.Is there any way to move/migrate the data saved in the VTL to a Disk Library ? And if so, is it possible to enable deduplication on the data migrated from the VTL to the Disk Library to save more space. Kind regards.

Hi, We have an aux copy job that copys to tape with retention 16 days.In the aux copy job you can choose ‘Automatically select Full Backups at frequency’ with values at ‘All Fulls’, ‘Hourly Fulls’ up to ‘Yearly Fulls’ and ‘Advanced’.And then you can choose ‘First full backup’ or ‘Last full backup’. For the moment the frequency is set to Weekly Fulls (Week starts on Monday) and First full backup. If we change frequency to ‘All’/’Hourly’ or ‘Daily’ and to Last full backup.Does the frequency only control how often the system checks if there is a new full backup and then make the copy only if there is a new full backup or will it copy the same fullbackup several times during the retention time in case there is no new full backup?Does frequency ‘All’ meen that it will copy as sone as there is a new full backup?

We have some use cases for deploying instant cloning functionality on mssql databasesLike daily refresh databases in datawarehouse environment or first depersonalize databases and then clone for use on dev-test serverswe did some testing using an intellisnap backup and then instant clone a database to another serverthis works basically but it is very slow : (we tried finding proper documentation with the exact steps and configuration details to follow for the whole procedure but did not find a complete guide for that; only partial information, like How to manage clones etc.We would like to implement a fast, efficient way for cloning databases from one server to one or more other servers with Intellisnap backups and eventually scheduled workflow / scriptsWe hope this community can provide some answers for us !

Hello All, Today we have received the task from Business to restore some file from Linux VM in AZURE. Media Agent is only Windows VM and during the process of restore indexes in Commvault Commcell Error appeared. And my question do we have some workaround in that case to restore the file from that type of backup? I see two options: Restore whole machine and reassigned disk to production server and then copy file between the locations.  Create a new one Media Agent built on Linux OS and restore the data directly to the server.But I am looking for some abother option which can be performed in that type of case. I will be very graceful for any adviceories or any ideas. Regards, Michal 

We have (and have had) VM’s that are “doing a lot” and the snapshot that occurs for the VM backups causes the application to see a “hiccup”.  There’s always a query from the application team to “find out what's happening” and it always works out to just “stop using CommVault to back this up via VMware backup, use the client backup instead”  the issue disappears and everyone is happy, except me…After I take the VM out of VMware backups, I need to add a client.. adding the client with the same hostname/display name results in an a pop up/error: "duplicate entry. Client [server name here] already exists.  Try with a different client name’We have been getting around this by naming the client something like ‘servername_1”.  in some cases, we have “servername_3” as it looks like the client was moved back and forth between vmware and client backups several times…is there a ‘better” or recommended way to handle this where we don’t have the “servername_1” in our client computer lists?  it isn't

Is there a way to “Refresh” a token once it has expired? The default time a token lasts is 30 minutes, you can change that but is it possible to simply refresh a token that is expiring? Really just a yes or no question. Thanks.

Hello, After we upgrade SP to 11.25 i see some issue in some of vm backup. The Vm staying in waiting staats and and saying Please check the log files for this job for more details. I wil uploade job log here. If on next day i resubmit job its wil run normaly. Its seems after ther upgrade the MA's getting to busy with something and cannot handle the vm job.On all failed jobs i am keep seeing this erro: 2210493 21babd 04/12 09:37:26 1594108 receiveObject() - Failed to receive object. Hi, I’m aware that there is a Restore Spooled file data (SPLFDTA) check box option when Performing an IBM i File System Agent Restore. However, what I’m looking for, is for a way to not backup the spool files to begin with. In native IBM i backup commands, the Spooled file data (SPLFDTA) option is set to *NONE by default. Thus, one must explicitly specify SPLFDTA(*ALL) on a native IBM i backup process in order to save these. How do we go about mimicking the same behavior in Commvault? As a side note, simply excluding all Out Queue Objects (OUTQ) is not a valid option. Regards,  SP.
