How do I read this job status data? What is my deduplication savings if any, or is it just compression alone. Where do I look for actual deduplication savings for the job.Can I leave deduplication enabled for transaction logs, or will that affect performance?Once job is completed I only see this :Could it be thatmy dedupe savings is nil? Or am I am mixing the terms and compression is actually a deduplication? 

Hi All, We currently only have intellisnap backup and the existing disk library is only being used for the SQL tlog backups. We are planning to onboard few streaming backups and configure global deduplication.Is it possible to select the existing library which contains transaction log data while creating the global deduplication policy without impacting the data on it? I am trying to avoid to have multiple disk libraries. Or do I need to configure an empty disk library for this purpose? Thanks.

Hi All. I’m using the BackendStorage (QS_BackendStorage) Qscript / Stored Procedure to calculate backend storage usage for a given customer, to be able to invoice the customer for backend storage usage. When sealing a DDB, I would like to exclude the storage usage from that DDB, would this be achievable, either by a command via the qoperation executing or by editing the QS_BackendStorage Stored procedure in SQL? Thanks-Anders

Hi Guys, As we are preparing to create a replicated data to a new DR site, using DASH copies to get the best performance possible, we also thought about harden the data sent there with the use of WORM. We already know that CV has its own WORM property, and actually, the storage that we have in the DR (Huawei Oceanstore 100D) has its own built-in WORM protection.My question is, can the activation of WORM be made on both sides (CV + Storage) without issues ? Or, should it be one side only ? Thanks guys.

I am in process of configuring VSA backup but looking for best practice to attain better performance. what’s recommendation for maximum VMs per sub-client? Maximum data store LUNs can be presented  to proxy machine?

I’m at a loss here. I was under the impression that the workflow engine uses Groovy to interpret any java code you enter but some operators fail the syntax check. For example if I attempt to create a list using groovy syntax.def clientlist = []; this will cause a syntax error stating that “[“ is unexpected.Fine I can work around that by doing def clientlist = xpath:{/workflow/select/clients} Where the xpath points to a list, but it will not allow me to do something such as clientlist.each{random stuffmore random stuffadditional random stuff} I don’t mind using Javascript but some things are easier in Java and I kind of assumed that I could just follow Groovy syntax to make sure stuff worked. What am I missing? 

I would like to disable the automatic discovery of database instances in my environment.I found an additional settings that appears to do this but it seems to have an odd caveat Use this additional setting to disable or allow the automatic database discovery feature for some databases, for example Oracle. If you want to disable the automatic discovery feature for clients, then set the value of this additional setting to 1 before you install the database agent software on the clients. When you use this additional setting with a value of 1 the Commvault software does not discover new databases that you add. Set the additional setting value to 0 to enable the automatic database discovery feature. The default value is 0. This leads me to believe that this will not disable instance discovery for clients who already have the DB agents installed. Let me know if this is what I need or if ther

We have had a EL7 File Recovery Enabler for Linux (FREL) for 4 years now. I believe when it was initially deployed we were on V11, Service Pack (before you called them Feature Releases) 13.But now we’re starting to move to EL8 VMs so after coming across this issue with our couple of backed up EL8 VMs, I figured it was time to deploy a new FREL for EL8.However, in my admin console, because we already have an existing FREL, “linuxrestore” my options for step 5 in your instructions where I should be seeing a “deploy new FREL VM” option, simply doesn’t exist. I can either choose my existing linuxrestore FREL, or “not set”.What am I supposed to

HI teams,my licence is limited to 10 backups Vms.Unfortunatly, i add a new vm in my subclient and lauch backup. Now i had a pop up alert of over capacity on startup commcell console.I delete the vm now but the popup is still alive.How can i delete this alert ?Regards

Hi, TeamHope we are all doing fine.I will like to get ideas on a topic.I have a client who uses Dell EMC data domain as their backup repository and they do not use commvault deduplication at all, they rely on dedup on the storage.. The backups do not seem to flying at the moment. I have done CVDisk and the storage is not doing bad.  Also done CVNetwork test and the throughputs are great.I am suspecting the Storage deduplication is the culprit….I am not able to check the Q & I because it is it not a CV DDB. The storage team cannot really help out to check, as they have no idea of what is going on..I proposed a new Media Agent to load balance the workload and i will like to know if they can use CV Dedupe for the new storage policies with the same Data Domain storage. The point man says they have a 3TB 10k SAS which is a bit manageable for CV Dedupe.Please, advise. 

Hi Community, Is it safe to use software compression with DumpBased PostgresSQL backup ? We’ve had a client complaining about jobs related to PostgresSQL backups taking too long, after a first check, we’ve found that all created subclients under DumpBased had compression turned off, we know that DBs have their own compression, but wanted to be sure of the safeness of using it on commvault side. Regards.

Our main linux file server, using only the File System Agent installed on it and nothing else, displayed a new error during an incremental backup this morning. The job appears to be running still, but I’d like to know why I got this. Optimized Scan option is indeed selected in the subclient properties.In the “errors” column in the Java commserve console, it worries me by displaying “No resources”. Hi there!I would like to discuss the following backup job issue. There are some VMs, that failed to be backed up due to the failure reason - VM is not in a connected state. In fact, these VMs are powered off in the vcenter. I was looking for how to cope with this type of issue, but I didnt find any relevant resources.So, my question is how to deal with this situation. The VMs should be powered off, but backups should be running as usual. Is there any workaround in the CV?
