Is there support for migrating backups from Commvault to Metallic BAAS?We started using Commvault 3 years ago.  Now Metallic BAAS looks like a better fit for us. Our preference (if we switch) would be to not keep the Commvault for just those 3 years of backups.We would like, if possible, to import those backups into Metallic BAAS. I know if we changed to a different brand, this would not be an option, but since both are Commvault based, I figure I would ask.

This is simple but working trick to maintain Commvault.When you want to start (typically backup) jobs via CLI instead of Schedule Policies, it involves qlogin in the first place to log into CommCell.This command is mostly straight-forward to use but when trying to invoke multiple jobs from one server it arises some errors, like Error 0x10b: User not logged in, Error 0x208 Token file is corrupted or relevalt errors.As BOL explains -f parameter to use Token file as follows:When using qlogin without -f option, it generates a file named "qsessions.OS-User, directly under Commvault installation directory.

Hi Commvault People, I have a tidying up exercise to do, which will ultimately involve this:- 1 - Decommission two MA’s currently working as partitioned dedupe  (lets call, them MA3 and MA4)2 - Migrate workloads to remaining MA’s, also with their own partitioned GDSP configs.     Lets call them MA1 and MA2.3 - Noting that Storage Policies on MA1\MA2 versus MA3\MA4 have very different retention. I know that generally speaking, you can easily reassociate to another SP and away you go, but that’s only useful if you have matching retention.The issue I have is that my MA3 and MA4 Storage Policies (whose ma’s I want to retire) are set to Infinite retention.  The Storage Policies on the remaining ma’s (MA1\MA2 are not). So If I want to migrate the workloads away from MA3 and MA4, is it possible to somehow keep the Storage Policies in tact that were previously associated with MA3 and MA4. We are low on space.  As we look through old jobs, or anything that is still being held on past our retention period.   We have plenty of infinite and long term retained items mixed with our regular data in our primary DDB.   I’m claiming that the infinite retention or long-term jobs could be hodling reference blocks.  This is the reason why we see data size on disk being a reasonable number but the library being full. For example, 800 TB size on disk but the 1.5PB library is full.  as we go through jobs, some are seen as not “big fish” because data written may show for example 85GB written for a 1.5TB App size server. We skip and don’t worry about this because, I’m told well 85 GB is only what will come back in space.  Let's look for 1TB + being written.   I’m thinking that even as we size our future library, we should consider a pool of space that will always sit there and hodl these reference blocks and be “unuseable” space.   Hope

I need to access a some information at the beginning of the workflow, specifically I need to do a query on the fly in order to populate some dynamic form fields. In order to do this I think there are two options. The first is option is to instantiate the CommserveDBquery class and use the output, I was able to find the class definition but a few things are not clear. Hi all!as time went by, the disk space on the disk library associated with CommServerDR policy is full. Unfortunately, on the Primary copy of the CommServerDR policy WORM Copy settings has been enabled. Even worse, the retention period has been set to infinite.Would it be feasible to move the mount path/the disk library to the different disk and then concurrently create new policy copy in CommServerDR policy, that could be set as primary instead of current one?Or is just the only solution either reinstall all CV environment (as it is DR policy) or to ask support for eliminating the WORM copy?Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi All,We are running the HyperScale 1.5 Reference Architecture with RHEL on top of HP Apollo 4200 Gen9 servers. Now we planning to upgrade the OS to 7.9 through CV FR upgrade. I have few quries and would like to hear from people who did the upgrade already.  As per CV, the upgrade takes around 60-90 min. What would be expected duration per node in real world. Is there any firmware pre-request required for this upgrade? Does anyone reverted the change successfully ? If yes, how long it takes per node Do we have any check point to validate the upgradation once completed for first node? instaed waiting till 6th Node upgrade.  Thanks in Advance Mani 

What will be the best procedure for OS versions upgrade for HyperScale 1.5 from 7.7 to 7.9 Kernel Version 3.10.0-1160.53.1.el7.x86_64.i have 6 node cluster, can we upgrade rolling upgrade from 7.7 to 7.9 ?

When running the Load Balance Index Servers workflow, are there any precautions to take into consideration? Should any of the services on the main CommCell be suspended?  Should this be done when there is a window where there are no jobs running? What is the best practice before running this workflow?

Hi, I’m wondering if there is any reg key that can be set for the subclients, in my case a Cloud Apps virtual client where the content rarely changes, so almost every day we get multiple 17:11 errors. Isn’t there some way to set a key that says “I don’t care if you didn’t find any content in the scan?”thanks

I am sure that I am using the correct credentials for the vCenter to browse. Hello Team As far as I can see “Google Mail and Google Drive” (known as G Suite/Google Workspace nowadays) is deprecated within FR26. Is that really true? Google Workspace is getting more and more popular, companies use not only Microsoft 365, but Google bundle as well so I am really surprised that Google Mail backup is will not be supported anymore.Do you have some other info or news from roadmap? I am wondering if I can still use this “deprecated” agent to protect G Suite or it’s not good idea as support is finishing. Kind regards,M.

Hello ! Today I’m trying to dig the doc about Intellisnap hardware features.I mean that I have storage arrays that can be used for hardware snapshots using Intellisnap.I have setup my array(s) and am able to perform hardware snaps and make backup copies of the data : no problem on that part.But, I’ve been challenged to see if Commvault would be able to browse (and IE to potentially recover) hardware snapshots that were not initiated by Commvault itself. Hi Team,My Primary Copy is not using deduplication . If i enabled WORM at storage policy copy level , would there be any impact on backup library storage consumption .I guess 2x to 3x additional capacity is required only when we enable WORM on deduplicated backup copies.Please let me know if my understanding is right ?

Hello team, We want to filter out a group from a backup alert, and it works fine with other options. However, we noticed a strange behavior that as long as we select the option “Backup for subclient failed consecutively for n attempts”, Commvault will never evaluate the “Group Token” or any other Token that we set in the Token Criteria to filter out a particular group from being alerted. Rather keeps sending an alert for the particular group that we want to be excluded. I have tested this in different ways, but it does not evaluate any Token Criteria that I defined at all, rather ignore whatever Token Criteria that I set and send an alert right away when job status including (job killed, the job failed, job completed with errors, killed by the system ) I suspected it's expected behavior as long as failed backup job status falls in the above failed backup job status. But our customer wants me to che
