Still the joy of seeing a commvault restore progress:  while in reality the first one has been completed for 40% and the second one for 10% (getting this from CV logfile on the client!!!)

We have a physical server running CV 9 that we, unfortunately, need to keep running. In an effort to protect ourselves as much as possible, we have P2V’d that server into vmware. When the VM came online, I was able to recover backed-up data from its media agent… but when I tried to backup NEW data to that same media agent, I got an error: “Failed to mount media [name] with mount path [location] on media agent [MA name]. Folder1 already exists. Choose a new mount path.” Or something very like that. The mount paths on the media agent are its drives E, F, and G.That media agent had been working fine on the physical server.I don’t really understand why this problem should exist simply because we’re using a VM now.I’m happy to answer any questions about this machine. I’m hoping someone may have a clue as to why recoveries work, but backups don’t.

How to get commvault version compatibility guide for ida agents?

Hello,I have a site for my customer closed out and we moved the hyperscale 1.5 ( HS1300) to another site but the site naming standard has to be follow , is there any procedure to be followed to rename the hyperscale nodes. Hey,I'm trying to backup a Mysql instance on a linux machine but for some reason I cannot submit the changed username for the backup.I’ve installed mysql agent on the linux machine but I need to change the SA username as its different from the agent install user.I’ve gone to Client computers » client name » MySQL » right click on mysql instance » properties » accounts » change » input my username and password » OK.My issue is that I cant click on the second ‘OK’,its just does nothing.Thanks in advance

Hi, I am doing a CC Migration and need to migrate a few clients at the time. I have done this a few times before but I cannot remember the CS Client turning up in the list of Clients during the import in the target Commcell. I cannot find this described or explained in the documentation. Is this expected behaviour?  I need to be sure there is no impact on the source Commcell that must remain operational as this is a large production Commcell.  Both Commcells are 11.20.67/Patrik

Hello I have a doubt:I have to add a MA server (RX2540 M5) to Commvault, the best way to add is by Commvault(CommCell) or do I do it through the Commvault software on the machine(rx2540)?So, do I have to create the MA database on the server or not?@Mike Struening

Hi,I have a strange behavior with Commvault and Intellisnap. We trigger Netapp Snapshots with Commvault Jobs. These Snaps are not copied to Commvault Library. Reason: We have a 2-Node Netapp Metrocluster in Place and a third Netapp with async Snapmirror syncronisation to keep the History of Snapshots there (so this is kind of a Backup Storage for the Metrocluster).We use Commvault only for triggering Snaps and for restores from these snaps. But Data is kept on Netapp with Snapshots. So this way our Service Desk personell needs only one GUI to restore Backups from Netapp and from all other kind of Backups we store in Commvault Library.Since about 3 Months I observe the following problem: When you browse a Netapp Snapshot Job with Commvault, you don’t see all Folders. When you browse the same Snapshot with Windows Explorer using ~snapshot after the UNC path, everything is there and you can restore it with no problem.Any idea why the Folders are not visible

Hi, EveryoneI have this issue on different servers i tried to uninstall commvault agent on. The issue, the commserve hostname on the Process Manager is “DISABLED”. i had gone to the registry to remove the DISABLED and changed the FLAG to 0. The server could not still be seen by COMMSERVE. I resorted to uninstalling the agent completely from the server, during the process of uninstallation, it writes ‘FAILED TO UNINSTALL FAILED MSI’. How do i solve these problems, please?

Hi all, We have a following issue. The LTO8 tapes were badly marked with LTO6 barcodes. Then, the tapes have been remarked with right barcode. However, Commvault can not recognise the newly remarked tapes - Commvault says that the barcodes had been already used and tapes were moved to retired group. We tried to perform Discover,  Full Scan (inventory) and Update barcode for the given tape without success. Is there any workaround for the issue? Is there only one way to somehow fix the tapes within the tape library?

Hey everyoneI’ve just moved to a new environment which already had Commvault configured in it.Im trying to make sure all the backups and policies are correct and mainly to understand the product better.I have both Commvault and VCenter in my environment. Good afternoon allI have DB2 backing up successfully and successfully executed the rollforward recovery within Commvault.the DBA would like to be able to run this from the command line and we used: db2 recover db <database_name> to 2001-12-31-04.00.00 The issue we have is that due to the way we have been routed, we need to specify a media agent for the recovery operation (easy in the GUI), but I can’t see a way to do this in the command line.I’ve saved the XML script that would allow this, but the DBA would prefer to just run a command.Is there anyway I can specify which Media Agent must always be used in this operation?I hope that makes sense?Thanks,Mauro

Hi, I need some advice here… My previous backup administrator disabled the below 2 System Created DDB Space Reclamation and Verification schedule policies, (I presume) due to lack of space on our disk.   Now, with the disk space being OK again, I’m wondering if it’s necessary/beneficial for us to re-activate those 2 policies ? BTW, we are about to move all the backup jobs to a new Commvault Server in the coming months, so is it still worth the effort of re-enabling those 2 policies on this old Commvault Server ? Kelvin

Hi, I’m trying to add 3 nodes to an existing Hyperscale X cluster ?It’s a brand new installation, the cluster is up and running in with the first 3 nodes.Now I’m trying to add 3 more nodes, do I need to create a block with “cvavahi.py...” on those 3 new nodes as well and after that I will have the options in the Command Center to add them all under the one already there  or ?Thank you, it’s the first time I’m adding nodes to and existing HyperScale X cluster and I don't find any documentation on this !

Hello community , We are trying to migrate SAN storage to S3 cloud library .Per suggestions followed these steps . 1.    configured new global dedupe storage policy using your new S3 bucket and MA2.    configured new secondary copies in your existing storage policies pointing to your new S3 dedupe storage3.    ran aux-copyWe have huge data and contacted commvault support to determine the timelines to know when the aux copy will get complete . Currently aux-copy is running for more than 4 months.Support has mentioned below points .-Your current configuration is allowing the selection and prioritization of new backups over older data-You are also configured to copy all data to cloud and mentioned we are not using dedupe for aux copy. How to make sure have optimal Aux copy configurations
