Hi,does anyone know if there are any plans to support oVirt 4.5.x? It was released almost a year ago and still the highest supported version is 4.4.x.Regards,Lukasz
Are you able to Aux copy directly to S3 Glacier Deep Archive (cool tier), without having write to hot tier?
Dear support,If enable Encryption (in Disk configuration - check below pic) for both primary and Secondary copy, will be also encrypted the traffic between them? The goal here is to have “full” encryption, not only for backed up data, but also in Aux copy operations. Please for your feedback,Nikos
Hello, please, I need your help, I have to set up continuous replication of a VM and I can't find the correct configuration.
Hey folks,A few months ago we made a major update to our cloud portal and replaced the classic dashboard with our new Cloud Command dash. The team is keen to hear what you think about the new dashboard.Answer the poll and leave a comment below!👇 Backup health report in the Cloud Command dashboard
Hello to all,We are interesting to deploy Data Isolation / Air Gap (within a traditional Commvault environment) for a secondary site in Azure. Is there any required Commvault license for Air Gap (in traditional environment, no Commvault Cloud SaaS) Looking required configuration for the Azure Side. Best practices for Commvault configuration. Please for your feedback,Nikos
Good morning! We’re setting up a PG instance with Commvault. We’re running on RHEL which has a default block size of 4k, but it appears PostGres uses a block size of 8k. Should we be setting RHEL to use 8k blocks for the database mounts? If so, can you tell me why? Our OS folks are curious. I appreciate any guidance you might give. Thanks - Chris
Hi all, since a few days ago two servers appear in the “Missing SLA” section of the SLA report but, as far as I can see, they are regularly backed up on daily basis. These are new servers, recently integrated in our Commcell with the role of Media Agents. Any idea about why this happens? Thank youGaetano
Hello Commvault Community! One of the environments had a problem with backing up virtual machines in Azure. Some virtual machines return an error during backup:"91:413 Encryption status of one or more disks doesn't match the setting in ADE Extension of VM [XYZ]. [All] disks are expected to be in encrypted state.Source: CS, Process: JobManager"The problem occurred for version 11.28.100I see that there is a patch for SP30 with a similar description: Lengthy restores of Azure ADE virtual machines can fail with the error "Failed to setup encryption settings for the VM" - 6577 (11.30.53).https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/expert/files/service_pack/updates/11_30_83.htm However, I don't know if this is a fix that applies to backups, because the description refers to recovery operations.I created this thread to ask whether this may have an impact on the situations on SP28 or whether these are completely independent scenarios and matters that should not be combined.Could I ask you to verify
When the backup is complete, the records disappear in 10 minutes in Job Controller I want to make sure that it doesn't disappear Until I refresh it
Hi all, At a customer, we are using Combined Storage Tiers:CV 11.28 AWS Deep Glacier / Standard-Infrequent Access We have a few questions on this:When we do a restore, the Recall workflow kicks in. We see that it initiates the Recall and then waits for 13 hours before checking the Recall Success. Why is it only checking after 13 hours? The data might be available sooner, so it would make sense checking earlier. Which Recall type is used by default (with CV 11.28), is it Standard or Bulk? Thanks in advance!
We have an installation of Commvault 11.28.36 in an AWS environment. There is only 1 Commserve servicing multiple VPC’s with each VPC having it’s own Media Agent(s) and S3 Bucket(s). We have Couchbase installations in various VPC’s and currently we use the Couchbase backup utilities to dump the backups to EFS which are also mounted on the media agents. From there, we do EFS backups to S3. We are interested in exploring the Commvault Couchbase backup process with targets to S3 and have a few questions: Does Commvault Couchbase backup process just utilizes the Couchbase backup utilities? Is there any document that provides technical details on the backup process? Currently, with the EFS backup, we are utilizing the Capacity Based License. If we move to this Commvault solution, what license will it consume? I appreciate insight into to this. ThanksChuck
Is it as simple as create an XML representation of the entity list? I have been attempting to create it via Java with strange results.
HelloPlease help, I am trying to integrate an Oracle server that has a "Red hat" OS and I get the following error. It may be something very easy but please if someone can answer, I will be grateful.
We are planning on swapping production VMs between our two data centers on a regular basis. We’re using Power Max storage with SRDF Metro (synchronous) replication, VMware with SRM protected VMs, Commvault Primary backup at the DC where the VMs happen to be at the time and an AUX copy at the other DC. We backup VM snapshot images (so Agent-less).We can configure SRM to maintain UUID after a failover to the Secondary site (secondary vCentre), so the licensing issue seems fine. SRDF Metro replication keeps the sites in sync, so from a VMware perspective, both sites ‘see’ the same disk IDs. My question is about finding a way to configure Commvault to recognize the AUX copies as Primary, AND, more importantly, continue to leverage the same CBT info from the Primary site. This should be possible given SRDF Metro maintains bit level duplication of all disks/blocks.Without CBT continuation across sites, after failing 500-ish VMs over to the Secondary site, we’re looking at at full re-seeding
You can manage and secure Commvault login credentials, application credentials, and administrative login sessions using CyberArk’s Privileged Credentials and Session Management solution. With CyberArk and Commvault integration, you can synchronously rotate account passwords across your environment. Commvault receives password rotation requests to update application and local admin account credentials so that backups continue to run seamlessly, without manual intervention. You can also use CyberArk session management to log on to Commvault using one-time use admin credentials. This went relatively straightforward. The only thing that is missing in Commvault is a way to verify that the password rotation was successful. One can either try using the commcell user or the application user to browse a subclient to test whether the change was successful. But this is a trial and error method. An enhancement to this plugin would be to have a report or an event log entry in Commvault that a change
For those that don’t want to spend a lot of time trying to figure it out, I just figured I would post the basics and then you can have fun exploring for yourself. It’s not pretty, but should get those not familiar with using the REST API with PowerShell a good base to start. You’ll want to secure the credential section, this is just basic of the basic. It’s not pretty, but should get you started with REST API. You will need to fix the following in the script below: YOURWEBURL:PORT - Needs updated to your URL and port (if applicable) ###USING COMMVAULT REST API COMMANDS#####################################################################################################################https://YOURWEBURL:PORT/webconsole/sandbox/apiexplorer###https://documentation.commvault.com/2023/essential/rest_api_overview.html###SETTING UP THE VARIABLES FOR TOKEN REQUEST############################################################################################################$contentType = 'appl

Hi Team, The Watermark or Threshold that triggers the space reclamation is actually dependent on the low watermark threshold set at the Library Properties. As per the Commvault documentation, the Auto Space reclamation job is applicable for Disk. How we can enable it for Cloud Library?

Hello All,I have a question regarding the behavior of an SQL cluster. Scenario:This cluster is made up of 2 VMs with shared disks. There is also a witness client to this cluster. The witness client was rebooted unexpectedly, and so I’m assuming Commvault determined that the cluster was lost, since a backup set and instance were automatically created on one of the client nodes. What brought our attention to this was that we received an alert that this subclient could not be backed up since there was no Storage Policy associated, and permission not configured, which was to be expected. My questions:Is this normal behavior? (I believe that it is?). If so, why would Commvault do this given it can’t be backed up anyway with no storage policy associated, etc...? Is there an option to disable this behavior? Am I correct in saying that by the witness client being rebooted, the system assumed the cluster was lost? Also, this is not the same as a failover, yes? If an actual failover occurs, would
