Do we need to update clients' agents when we upgrade Commcell? Will it continue to take backup without updating? Is it a problem?

Hallo CV Community, we have got two tapes which are in the Media Group ‘Catalog Media’ but when the job is running to catalog this media we got this issueError Code: [62:2158]Description: Failed to initialize catalog operation for media.Source: s190a0010, Process: LibraryOperation We are also not able to move them to an other Scratch Pool. We can view the content of the media tapes. We have got write protection hardware based on the tape drives active (switch on LTO6 tape). Any ideas to solve this issue with the catalog operation? BRPhilipp

Hi folks-One of our media agents was upgraded in error by a colleague to 11.24.56, while our Commserve and every other MA in the org is running 11.20.50. This misstep broke Aux Copies for the media agent that was upgraded.I opened a case with Commvault some time ago, and the engineer assigned told me the only solution was to upgrade the Commserve to 11.24.56. That’s just not possible for us presently for a number of reasons.My question is has anyone ever rolled back a major release update successfully on an MA? Or do you otherwise have a solution to what we find ourselves in here? I tend to believe the CV engineer and concede we’re stuck, but considering this particular MA is backing up only AD data in a very small domain, if there is a way, this might be the time to consider it. The risk is minimal.Thanks 

We have a disk storage and we have a limited space on that disk and don’t have any plans to extend the storage on the disk. In weekends the storage utilization is high and could you please help me to process to reclaim the storage on the concern disk.

Team, we have a centralized private metrics reporting server that I just configured. I need to run a report to test that it’s successfully reporting on data from the (successfully registered) child commcells. What would be a specific report to run for this ? I ask because I know some of the reports will only report on the local centralized private metrics commserve itself.

Hello,I have Storage policies configured like this :first copy on storage diskssecond copy on storage disksselective Monthly Full copy to tape scheduled last day of the monthselective Yearly Full copy to tape not configured yet  Storage policy and copies Storage policy Copy to tape Monthly property General Tab Storage policy Copy to tape Monthly property Selective Copy tab Schedule policy run each end of the month (associated with storage policy copy Monthly_Tape)  I want to know what the  : Wait until the current period is over before selecting a backup for this time period do.I don’t know if I have to select this or the previous one : Select most recent job if there are no more full backup schedules in current periodI found documentation be not clear to me. Thanks ! 

Commserver production failover is taking long time at Perform Last sync up before failover

We are trying to restore a user's messages from the web portal due to legal issue. When I search for the account it appears to be completely grayed out. And when selected I am unable to see any information about the account. Its almost like its corrupted. The users last backup was from Nov before they quit. I have excluded the name and info but its very strange that this mailbox is experiencing this.  

Hello!I wish You all Happy New Year! I'm coming with a question.In our Environment we do have a escalation process for failure backup based on commvault trap sent to monitoring software. This trap is based on this configuration:   For now we do have that one Alert configured for the whole Environment, but we would like to separate it for Production and Test server. This will be done by setting two different alerts based on “subclient” name: Equal, do not equals, never mind we will play with it :) But a problem is that our monitoring software is not able to apply different escalation rules for a trap content, only by its “type”. And since at the very beginning of configuration I choose Category - Job Management and Type - Data Protection, no matter what I will configure later always the same “trap type” will be sent.In monitoring tool it will always come as this type of trap: “simpanaAlertDataProt”I would need to create separated trap type for Test servers and failed backup for them. Afternoon folks,We have backup jobs sent synchronously to a AWS S3 bucket which uses Deep Glacier as the storage class, we need to move the 6 months worth of backup jobs (for a particular storage policy) from this Glacier bucket to an AWS S3 standard (hot) bucket so that we have the data readily available - is this possible and what are my options please.

I'm working on a POC project to enable the Commvault SQL plugin on the latest SQL Server Management Studio. I have two questions:The Commvault documentation specifies SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) 18 as the supported version for the Commvault SQL plugin. Is it possible to use the current version plugin in latest SSMS 19 version? I'm unable to find a download link for the CvSQLAddInConfig.exe plugin in the documentation. Could you please provide the reference for downloading it?

System state backup is getting failed even VSS writers are stable. server reboot and Service restart also not resolved the issue. Failed to create VSS snapshot required to run system state backup. Hi! Trying to understand selective copy connected with database agents (mysql and psql). My config is : two storage polices (one from data and one for log)  full aux copy from primary to secondary DC selective copy to tape (for both log and data SP; first full backup each week with 4 week retention, first full backup each month with 6 months extended retention) What we see is not consistent across DBA agents and logs are not always copied as we would expect together with data ; postgres (FS based) write data and logs to separate storage polices, selective copy works as expected psql (with intelisnap) not execute log backup during full, logs are not copied to offsite copy, recovery need to based only on logs present on filesystem during snapshot mysql (by xtrybackup) is doing log backup to same SP during full, so logs are not in storage policy in what we expect to be and are not copied to offsite copy, during recovery only data is restoredDo we have any guidance on above? Hi. I have a workflow in which I am creating a dynamic PopupInput. But I am struggling to get the output of the PopupInput because the entry “INPUT1” seems to not exist. I tried a few things within a “Script” activity or even in the OnComplete Script of the PopupInput. For example I iterated through “activity.getForm().getEntries()” but the entry “INPUT1” did not exist. But nothing has been working.Does anybody know how to get the value of my entry? i would like to know the sync time for the hyperscale x hardware status , we have removed network card from nodes but it doesnt reflected in the command center same time , it took around  a day to update , is there any way to get it same time 

what all are backup type possible from exadata oracle .linux 8os image level backup is possible ? i can see only  below for detail regarding  exadata How do we configure backups on Oracle Exadata Database machines?In order to back up Oracle Exadata machines do the following: Install the Oracle agent on all the Exadata nodes. Create a RAC pseudoclient that includes all the Exadata nodes. Run the backups on the pseudoclient. The backups are performed using RMAN scripts. MediaAgents cannot be installed on Exadata database machines. They communicate with the Exadata nodes using an InfiniBand network during the backup.

Hello,On our VMware infrastructure, a Windows 2012 file server contains five datastores (LUNs) and we want to distribute these LUNs to new file servers. From the vCenter, we planned to detach the LUNs and reattach them to the new server. However, on each of these LUNs, several TB of files were archived and stubs replaced the files. What should we do to ensure that nothing is lost during these manipulations?Thank you for your help.

We currently have the problem that the backup is no longer running on 2 VMs. Hard drives need to be consolidated. If this is done, 1 - 3 backups will run through and then it will run into the same error again.Error Code: [91:399] Description: The virtual machine [cs-at00-201] reports that it has virtual disks that need consolidation and this could not be performed automatically. In order to prevent a further buildup of delta disks and possible stability issues with the virtual machine, further backups of this virtual machine will not be performed until this condition is corrected. Check if there are any locks on the virtual disks or if the disks are still attached to a backup proxy. [] This all happened after the update to 11.28.86. Before the update, the jobs ran without errors. The consolidation only affects the VSA Agent and one other VM Automount on the VSA Proxy is enabled.

Hey,we updated from 11.28 to 11.32.38.We have Monitoring Check for “Backup Copy” Jobs, and after the update to 11.32 not working, because via REST API Endpoint the “Backup Copy” Jobs are not shown anymore.Endpoint: https://<serverURL>/webconsole/api/Job?clientId=62On 11.28 the “Backup Copy” Jobs were show beside all other Jobs for the Client, but on 11.32.38 it is not shown anymore.On this Forum Topic:, it was discussed for 11.28 as an issue and could be workaround by adding:&hideAdminJobs=false  to the APi Call, but this doesnt help in 11.32→ no Backup Copy Jobs are shown.Can this be checked internally with Dev Team if there were a change or maybe known issue?Thx & Best RegardsMarcel

Hi community. I would like to know how I can dynamically create a PopupInput with java code. Example use case: At first I fill a variable (list) with values (e.g. from a db query). Let’s assume the value of this variable is: Value1, Value2, Value3. Now I need to ask the for information for each single value with a PopupInput like in the screenshot below.   I would guess that I need to start like this:import commvault.cte.workflow.dom.WorkflowElement;WorkflowElement PopupInput = WorkflowElement.parse(... But honestly I have no idea how to continue from here on. Best regardsPasqual

Good afternoon,I hope you can help me, the version of Commcell that I have is 2023E - 11.32.35, the error that I will describe also applies to the latest version 11.32.38. I have enabled MFA for a specific group, not for the admin. When that group enters from COMCELL successfully, they receive the MFA (PIN) to their email. TThis is an example of the email that arrives in your email. When this happens I see in the SMTPManager logs that it sends correctly and I have detected that it uses the DLL "ChilkaDotNet46.dll" located in the path: \Commvault\ContentStore\BaseSo the behavior is as expected and works fine for me. However, when I log in from the web console to obtain the PIN (MFA), I never receive the email with the PIN.I have checked the SMTPManager log and it refers to the Chilkat license having expired. I started checking and found that it uses the ChilkatDnCore DLL, version 9.5.0.94, located at the path:  Commvault\ContentStore\WebServerCore  Users specifically need this functiona
