But It crates a small database and this dataabse does low space on disk.This DB has been crates on E:\System Volume Information\Commvault\Data Classification I have changed scan method as Recursive Scan and I have added this additional settings. But ITs still having space on disk. can you help how to delete is please?

Hello everyone,I’m quite new to Commvault and only the “secondary admin” but the API guy in the team. We’re running Commvault 11.32.45 in a local VM and have several media agents across our datacenters (no cloud anywhere).I want to get all the devices which are backed up with any job right now. I don’t care if it’s a VM or a physical machine, a database server or a file server. All I need is the device name and maybe the backup job backing up the device.I want to use this information to request details per device from our central DCIM (Netbox) and create a simple list of devices + details.I managed to get clients and subclients via the api but it’s very confusing. There seem to be several apis and several documentations for them.What’s the currently recommended API in general? webconsole, commandcenter, WebServerCore, CVWebService.svc? Which documentation should I follow? documentation.commvault.com, api-next.commvault.com, one I didn’t find yet? Is there a straight forward way to get
The evening of Friday April 6, I upgraded my CommVault installation from 11.32.38 to 11.34.20. Following the upgrade (which required reboots of almost all the client computers), the Friday evening backups seems to be running normally. When I returned to work on Monday morning I have roughly 300 Alert emails regarding “unusual job activity” on various servers. Weirdly, some of the alerts say zero files have been changed:Anomaly NotificationAn unusual job activity was detected in Job [751258], type [Root Size Change]. Details: Unusual number of file operations in client [INF-SQLP104] - created files: [0], deleted files: [0], modified files: [0], root size change of [0.00] GBDoes anyone know what the problem is and how to stop all this spam? Hi Team, I am trying to prepare a custom report in which i want to have a Dataset which should give the output in horizontal tabular format. below is the sample screenshot which should be in horizontal. Basically i want to have horizontal table for each group showing job history count in similar below format. In single report there wll be multiple table with different groups. We dont want to have input. Something similar to below query for example:Select ABC group from XYZ Commcell showing job history with “xyz” fields for last 1 month.
I have created a disk library in our dev environment which is using it’s own separate volume. it will be used for ddb backups. If I want to increase the capacity do I have to add a new volume or can I just resize the underlying volume in linux ?

Hello Commvault Community, Commvault enviroment version: SP34I would like to ask about the possibility of changing the Client Identifier (old Client Name) for the CommServe module.We have an environment that was migrated from the old one - Hardware Refresh, but the Client Name of the CommServe module that we wanted to change remained there. We used the key:bAllowModifyClientNamehttps://documentation.commvault.com/additionalsetting/details?name=%22bAllowModifyClientName%22&id=12282 Unfortunately, this key doesn’t allow you to replace the Client Identifier for CommServe. I know this isn;t highly recommended, but is there any chance of changing this - through Commvault technical support? I'm asking because after Hardware Refresh we used the existing environment and backups by restoring from DR Backup with the CSRecoveryAssistant tool. After this operation, the Client Identifier was taken from DR Backup and doesn’t reflect the actual name of the CommServe module. Thanks in advance,Kami

There is a new physical tape library configured in this environment (HPE MSL G3 2024) with 2 tape HPE Ultrium 8-SCSI FC drives. The tape library was added in Commvault and few auxiliary copy jobs performed:1. With the hardware compression disabled in Commvault storage policy copy data path configuration. The size of data on the first tapes was 10 TB.2. With the hardware compression enabledin Commvault storage policy copy data path configuration. The size of data on each tapes was 20-21 TB.The backup data type is VMware backups.Our question is why Commvault is not placing more than 30 TB on each tape, considering they are LTO8 and hardware compression is enabled? This customer has another Commvault environment , with similar backup devices and same settings, they are able to accommodate between 30 -40 TB.

Hi everyone, I have live sync enabled between two comm cells “Active and Passive”. DB maintenance haven’t run since around 2 years. the workflow is disabled unfortunately. I need to run the command dbmaintenance -full on the active server. Shall I disable the live sync before running the command? Do I need to run the same command on the passive commcell server as well? Has anyone seeing this case where when running a backup copy, VMs are mounted, but some of them end up “invalid” this failing backup copy and hanging around vsphere. We have to manually right click and select “Remove from Inventory then run another backup which then works fine.VMTools running latest version.Run a full on the affected VMs and it keeps happening.Had a ticket with CV which said that this is a VM issue, so wondering if the community has seen this before and have found a solution for it? Hi All, We have many clients that are backing up even in powered off state. As per my knowledge, snapshot should be placed in the datastore and creation of snapshot consider the ESXi host rather than VM (please correct me if I'm wrong).To avoid such scenarios, I found that we have prepared and post process scripts which can be made outside of commvault.Can someone help me on below questionsWhere I can find these scripts?How these scripts works?Do I need to place these scripts in every VSA? Hi community,we are migrating from another solution to Commvault’s backup solution.Currently we are billing our customers per client and per used backup disk space. It would be great if we could handle the billing the same way as before.We are now looking for the best way the get the used disk space per client. Ideally directly with a SQL query. In another thread someone recommended the QS_BackendStorage stored procedure. While this looks like a good solution, we are not sure how to interpret the values. In our understanding the column ‘Backend Size (GB)’ contains the actual used disk space on the media agents per client. So adding up all those values should be equal to the used disk space on the volume.In our testing system currently 14.3TB of the disk space is used (by just checking the disk usage on the media agent - we currently only have one), while the sum of all values in the column ‘Backend Size (GB)’ of the stored procedure is about 100TB.So maybe someone can explain how those
Upgraded to Commvault version 11.34.5. We are running intellisnap backups and AppAware for SQL Since the update SQL AppAware backups do not work the default way for this version, App Consistent. The manifest.zip file that is sent to Commvault from vmware doesn’t contain the xml files needed, Writer.xml. Per Commvautl/VMware this failure is happening on the VM client OS side of things. Has any experienced this issue? Thank you

GreetingsI’m busy testing the EDC to migrate from Backup Exec to Commvault.I must stress that I”m using a trial license of Backup Exec and Commvault to test this, so this may be causing my issue. When I install and configure the EDC on the BE Master Server, I don’t get the option to configure the connection settings to the BE server as listed below.It auto configs with no options to edit any settings.https://documentation.commvault.com/2024/expert/discover_and_migrate_external_data_connector.html I simply get the below with no options to configure the instance options: As a result, the Discovery fails in connecting to BE.I tried to then create the xml answer file using the below example that could be used to run the discover.
