I have few client with Oracle, SQL, SAP databases hosting in the clients.Our current Commvault software version is 11.28 and the few of the clients are in 11.17 and 11.20 versions.I plan to upgrade the software in the client and while pushing the software to this clients, I see 2 options.1.Reboot the client if required.2.Run Database maintenanceNow, if I check the “Run Database maintenance”, What will be the implications?Will it stop the database? or without stopping the database, will it just check the checkdb and reindexall?I need to know if checking the 2nd option will bring the database, as the server that I’m gonna upgrade is production servers.Let me know the best practice.
Hello everyone,I am currently facing a problem:Backup for a large CIFS volume (> 50 TB! on NetApp) should run as follows:1. backup as incremental via SnapShot on productive filer several times a day2. transfer the SnapShots via snapvault to a backup NetApp via snapvault (aux copy)so far no problem ... then:3. backup of the last incremental SnapShot of the week from the backup Netapp to S3 (with DDB) and then synthetic full to get a new full again.-> This is possible in principle as the backup is incremental but a snapshot always contains everything. This means that only the diff of this last snapshot to the last synthetic full has to be backed up and this is only approx. 2 - 3 TB per week.4. once a quarter backup of the last (synthetic) full from S3 to tape (regulation) … no problem as well Unfortunately, Backup Copy ignores all incremental backups wif I use selection rules (even with “Apply selection rule for snap jobs” selected). Hello,we have a customer has commvault archiving solution, with traditional installation as below.1x cs vm in HQ site2x windows MA +index in HQ 2x windows MA +index in DR2x Webservers in HQ 2x Webservers in DR2x webconsole in HQ2x webconsole in DRnow customer bought 2x HSX Appliances 1x HQ, 1x DR what is the best practice to migrate the data and hardware? im thinking of the belowdeploying the HSX with the existing CS vm configure the HSX as MA and index nodes dash copy the data to the new HSX offload the old MAs +index and keep the WSs and WCs as it is is this approach okay or there is a better approach? another question, if i’lll copy the data using dashcopy:will be any issue recalling/restoring the data after demoting the old MAs? will be any issue during outlook addin recalls? thanks
HelloWe have worm enabled copies. The retention is 10 days and 1 cycle.Now we have a server that is decomissioned and backups have expiered after 20 days, so we are cleaning up the stg copies. But coming to the worm copy we can’t get rid of it due to that we can’t manually delete a job from it. As it is now it seems the backup jobs will be in there forever.I know we can do the process for unlocking the worm setting via support.Is there a best practicies regarding worm enabled copies in the respect of cycles?Am I right to assumethat, If we would set the cycles to 0 the job would prune off correctly?BRHenke

Trying to deploy CV to protect my Hyper-V cluster (intend is to use intellisnap). However after installing the product and trying to configure Hyper-V as hypervisor, it just doesn’t discover any nodes in the cluster nor discover individual nodes. The access node will be available during the first discovery try and then after few seconds it comes back with no error and now access nodes won’t be available.Setup:Hyper-V 2022 2 node clusterPermissions for account used – part of Hyper-V administrator group, Users group, Administrator group, backup administrator group. The account have full control on the hyper-v cluster.Commcell server v 11.34.5 (initial app setup complete – storage and plan added) and Array configured.Mediaagent and VSA installed on both Hyper-V nodes (so total 3 access nodes) There is no log or messages in Events. Any pointers to get my hyper-v discovery working. Looking for inputs from this great community.

I’m curious to know what speed others see when doing a Vmware NBD restore.Hardware, configuration ect. is not important, just want to know the speed, as I do not know if my restore speed is fast or slow.I get around 450Gb/h when restoring a single server via NBD. Hey Guys!Currently we have all our HS X Nodes, one Library, in one Data Center. Now the customer wants the backuped data also available on a secon site, where they want to build up a second HS X cluster, if DC 1 is down, all backup data is available in DC 2. Solution 1, warm standby:How can i push the protected data to the 2nd HS X Cluster besides running Aux copies? Is maybe a CV HS X Feature on the backend for that solution available?Problems with Solution 1: The HSX Nodes are mostly idling, and the primary Cluster has to do all the workloads. Solution 2, striped/cloned HS X Cluster:The HS X Workloads are striped over DC 1 and DC 2, and all protected data has to be available on both sides. Benefit: We can distribute all Workloads over more HS X Nodes.So does exist some kind of (Hedvig) Storage Data replication, to sync two HS X Libraries?Or what solutions would you recommend as the “best” in this case?Thank you!Kr
Hi, We have an issue with the aging of our O365 backups. We have set the retention on the primary at 14 days/0 cycles but we can see data from 2022 residing on it.There are not Jobs waiting to be copied on the secondary.The Forecast report shows for reason for not aging “DataAging is disabled for special clients”.Data aging is activated at every level I have looked (Client properties, Primary policy copy properties).Worm storage lock unchecked on the GDDB as well as Compliance Lock.Compliance lock is not checked on primary copy.I’d like to know how I can handle the retention on my primary storage.Thx for your help.

Hello,When I try to add content to the various O365 applications on metallic, I get a discover task launched but it doesn't execute.I click on refresh cache, it goes to "in progress" then if I refresh it goes back to "not started". I get the same error for all applications. This isn't the first time I've configured apps on metallic, and it worked fine a few weeks ago.*has anyone ever had this problem?Kind regards Max
Hello, one of our customer want to move away from the Exchange Compliance Archive and the “Offline Contenten Indexing” as a Search Engine infrastructur.The new solution will be the ContentStore Mail Server - SMTP.The customer is planing to recall/restore all old mails from the old archiv into the “new” Client to also remove all the old entries of long retiered systems. Another Painpoint is, the old Search Engine hit the next limit (more then 100M object) and it would require a new Node to be added.Is there any way, to restore the data directly onto the ContentStore Mail Server, or do we need to have the messages restored into the exchange server and push them from there into the Contentstore Mail Server?Or am I missing any other Option for the migration steps?Kind RegardsJoerg
i have file server where i am taking full vsa backup (included all drives)and for the same server am taking file system agent backup only for some drives ,does it consume double space from my storage ? will the deduplication work well with two type of backup
Hi,I have several NDMP jobs that I need to run but due to the hardware having a 16 NDMP connection limit, I need to allow each schedules jobs to complete before initiating the next schedule.I am aware that a workflow may be the solution but wondered if anyone had any templates or guides to create the workflow as I am at a loss with the Workflow designer.The schedule has 15 sub-clients in each and all 15 need to complete before the next schedule should run to ensure the hardware limit is not hit.
