We run 11.20 CV. Need to restore a vm and it fails because we just recently updated vmware to vsphere 8.0 Will upgrade commvault to 11.32, but it will take some time untill we do. Meanwhile need to restore a vm and restore fails. What is the best workaround? Can we create a temporary older dummy host of older vmware version?
We are running a POC for seeding an AWS S3 bucket which will act as DASH target. For the seeding of data, we are using the AWS Snowball device. We have two goals in POC,Seed the OnPrem backup data to AWS S3 using Snowball device and ship it to AWS. Once seeded to S3 bucket, test restores from S3 and also validate the next DASH job to S3 only transfers unique data after deduping. Copy the DASH data from S3 to Snowball Device, ship the device to On-Prem. Perform restores from the Snowball device.We have successfully completed the first part of the POC and need to initiate the second phase. But before shipping the snowball device to AWS, we ran a data verification job on the Snowball to confirm all the seeded DASH jobs are in readable state. The job failed since Commvault was unable to read any data from the Snowball device, and we were getting read errors. Full scale test instance of Commvault before deploying into production. Getting issues with viewing the contents of Hypervisor VM Groups, changing configuration of VM groups and some items using “view details” on the health report.“Default” Hypervisor VM Groups were created upon adding the hypervisors and the content left at the default / or all unprotected VM’s. Immediately upon creating the groups it is not possible to view the content tab without getting the detail flash very quickly on screen before displaying “something went wrong”. Also cannot change anything in the options section of the VM Group configuration page without “something went wrong”. I have deployed several instances of Commvault for test and this has happened on all instances. I have tried running the install again in repair mode and it does not resolve the issue. Note it is possible to view the content by looking at protected and unprotected VM’s but cant’ modify content from that page. Also issues with the “view
Stuck trying to get SAML SSO sorted in a test environment before moving into Prod. Followed the procedure at Using Active Directory Federation Services as Your Identity Provider (commvault.com) and SSO for Command Center or Web Console works fine on every other machine bar the CommServe box hosting the webserver. It just prompts the authentication box 2 times before defaulting to non SSO.Non SSO logins via domain creds work fine. CommCell browser DOES work fine using SSO on the web server box! It’s just browser access. Using LiveSync and failing over to the secondary CommServe results in the problem moving with web access restored on the previous primary server. The problem then afflicts the secondary (now primary. Tried running “in private” browser sessions and clearing cache with no result. What logs will monitor the transactions with the iDP to help me troubleshoot the issue. The Webserver logs show nothing.
After upgrading from 11.28.66 to 11.32.6, the command center dashboard backup summary report is showing no data available and also has an error “bad request, please check the parameters”
Hi Team, We have a very large, Infinite retention Storage Policy, associated to Storage Pool “Pool1”.It has grown to the point, that we will soon be creating another Storage Pool and Storage Policy. Let’s call these Pool2. All clients from Pool1 will be migrated to Pool2, so Pool1 will stop receiving any fresh data, since Pool2 will start receiving it all. The question I have is around the massive, leftover DDB’s from Pool 1. They are 2 x 1.8 TB and are hosted on the two Media Agents associated with Pool1. Since Pool1 will stop receiving data, I am keen to decommission the Pool1 Media Agents - noting that the Secondary-copy Cloud-based backup data can be accessed from a number of Media Agents and so it does not necessarily have to be the Pool1 Media Agents. It can be any Media Agents, provided they are mapped to the relevant Cloud Library Mount Points. So the questions I have are :- 1 - What do we do with these large, legacy DDB’s? I have some CIFS Shares on a NAS that I want to backup and I currently do this by using a subclient on a Windows File iDA that simply connects to the UNC path.I’m replacing the box that the existing subclient sits on so I need to re-create it and I have two options.Same as before but use a new File iDA. Add a NAS/Network Share client and use the new Windows File iDA as a data access node.The end result is my UNC path is backed up so I’m not entirely clear what the difference is between the two methods and why I might choose one over the other?

Hi,One of our customer will get soon a NetApp Filer with Full Flash disks (SSD disks). They will have one volume in their NetApp system with more than 100 millions of files. I proposed to use NDMP backup type and configure the feature NetApp C-Mode Multi-Streaming Backups.But the customer is afraid that he will have performance issue using NDMP backups due to the high number of files in one volume.Any advice?Many thanks.
Happy New Year! We have recently offloaded the share job results folder for Office365 clients from one of our two Office365 Proxies to a shared storage in order to free up space on the proxy. All seems to work well since the move. I am now trying to delete the old folders from the proxy. Windows looks like it’s deleting the content but all is still there after the deletion.I suspect it might be the Commvault ransomware protection that prevents me, even though these content is not anymore configured in Commvault. How can I remove this obsolete content? Thank you,Zoltan
I read that only EMC Celerra/VNX is supported for 3-way NDMP and have been doing this for years. We are now moving to begin backing up multiprotocol shares off of ONTAP in cluster mode, so I’m wondering if NDMP backups can be done similarly - tapeless, but backing up volumes via NDMP to capture both sets of permissions. Or, is this simply not an option with ONTAP and the only way to do NDMP is via tape (direct)?If NDMP tape-less isn’t supported then I guess that means the NAS client is the only way and we need to pick NFS or SMB, correct? The MA in this particular case in Linux, so NFS it will be if the 3-way isn’t and option direct to disk.thanks!

Hi all I have a customer who’s dashboard doesn’t report on a number of fields. Running the reports for each component also brings up empty results, as expected.I had a look at the possibility of Branch Cache running as per another post here on a similar issue, but it isn’t installed.I staged the Commserve in my lab and reporting is correct.The customer is on FR11.21 and the lab version is FR11.28.xxI don’t think this would be a fix as I believe the issue has been around for some time.Below is the client view: Below is the view in my lab:
Dear all,what does it happen when an auxiliary copy job is suspended and then resumed?I know this sounds like a strange question but comes from the following experience. We have auxiliary copy jobs that take a long time to be completed and often they are still running when new content is added.In this case (new content added) the values of Total Data to Process, Number of Readers in use and Current Throughput are not updated in the Job Controller and, even more serious, they remain the original ones for a long time.If I suspend the aux copy job and resume it right after, all the values are recalculated, a much higher number of Readers are allocated and the aux copy goes much faster.Is this normal? I mean, I expected that the load resources were recalculated periodically but it looks like it doesn’t happen. Thank you in advance for your helpGaetano

As per my knowledge, snapshot should be placed in the datastore and creation of snapshot consider the ESXi host rather than VM (please correct me if I'm wrong).To avoid such scenarios, I found that we have prepared and post process scripts which can be made outside of commvault.Can someone help me on below questionsWhere I can find these scripts?How these scripts works?Do I need to place these scripts in every VSA? I have a situation here, after migration from 11.28.72 to 11.32.45, VM which were added using VM rules using VM tags appeared in different subclient of a Vcenter virtual server and it is impacting SLA since now the VM tag issue is resolved and backup in running under one subclient. Now i need to disable backup activity for the client for other subclient except the original subclientcurrently the VM is appearing in only ine subclient of the vcenter virtual server which is JPAWP, and the VM is not available or not showing under any other subclient. But when we check individual VM , it shows multiple backupset/subclient and it is impacting the SLA. Now i need to disable the backup activity for the VM, for specifc backupset/subclient. Do not disable backup activity on client level because the VM is curently backing up in its original subclient.Now i need to disable backup activity for the VM for all the subclient except the orignal subclient which is JPAWP here.I am creating workflow to ac

I am facing a problem with capacity licence.I have exceeded 110% while creating backup for end of year export.But we have done housekeeping after that, and now we are about 92%, please have a look:In web console, I also can see this chart:but still I get a warning on console:And it forces me to reset it every 96h… The system is running at this 92% consumption for about 5 days. Today i have found this in web console in other place… I have contacted Commvault and they have sent me “A loan key”. So as far as I understand the “loan” key is used to temporarily extend capacity license, but it seems that not a problem because we are below 100% right now. I have excluded few clients from backup (disabled backup activity), but those clients do have already performed backups for UAL export.So for now I am confused… How this Capacity License is Calculated? Why we're still getting warning even if we are around 92% for about 5 days? Does already create backups for clients which i have d

installed intellisnap in one of the media agent , agent installed successfully and job got failed . now all media agents are up but i am not able enable the root account or cvbackupadmin of this media agent and i cannot login to any of the media agent using root but cvbackupadmin is able to login. i am not sure is it caused because intellisnap instllation ,i have attached log if some one can help
vmware client is configured and hyperscal x media agents are added as the proxy , we are using san mode and hyperscal x having visibility to datastore,our commserver or Media agent doesnt have intellisnap installednow we are setting up intellisnap for one subclient - array has added ,array config - added 3 hyperscal x media agent as access nodes -snapshot properties - we dont have any media agent in local host , do i need select remote snapshot MA and select hyperscal nodes ? in this case any additional package need to install . since media agent has visibility to datastore i belvi it ll be proxyless backup . but we having error . i have add the log
