Team, I’m trying to maximize resources for O365 data protection. Can the Index Server role be added to an Azure vm that is performing the Access Node role ? CI is being used and I am aware I may need to scale up the vm resources. The data is being protected by an on-prem library and aux copied to an S3 library. Thank you!

Hello All. Thank you in advance for your assistance. For a selective tape copy I need a means to ‘guarantee/force’ only Fulls from a given month are written to a single tape. Is there a way to do this ?  I would be interested in knowing how to ‘guarantee/force’ only jobs from a given month onto a set of tapes as well.

We were thinking to try out the Commvault containers images in combination with Tanzu, but we would like to provision by making use of an authcode instead of username and password. Can't really find if this is possible and which attributes I should use to populate the authcode.

I have a question concerning Windows update on a Commserve.What is the best option:1. Use windows update assistant?2. Manually install al windows updates? I prefer to use Windows update, is there a Commvault Best Practice?How do you install Windows update on a Commserve?

Should it be domain admin? And also regarding the user for Media Agent, the documentation mentions commandDRRestore.exeto restart the workflow if it fails, does that mean that Media Agent has to be on Windows server? Considering Media Agent chosen in the form is on Linux server, if Linux Media Agent can be used at all, can regular user with sudo access be provided or does it have to be root?How to deal with ProductionCS SQL SA user Password? Client server have been crashed recently, then restored from commvault vm backup.  But after, I have duplicated of the server object:  The one with “OLD” is the old client entry with all the previous backups.  The other with the “?” is the new client entry that contains new backups.  How can I link the new one to my server?  I tried to reinstall client on server but it has recreate a third entry !  Because I want to have the “File System” entry on my new object to allow me to restore individual files in the futur. thank you for your help.

Hello,We currently have our primary copies stored on Hyperscale-X with secondary AUX copies residing at our opposing datacenter consisting of a traditional Windows MA attached to Nexsan storage.  We have a requirement to implement some sort of air gap solution.  I know it’s not fool-proof, but at the moment I’m considering a tertiary copy to move the data from either Hyperscale-X (local) or from the AUX copy to another MA/Storage located on a locked down network with a firewall in between.  The concern however is the length of time that we’d need to leave ports opened to create that air gap copy.  We could be talking dozens of TBs that would need to be copied and if we need to leave the ports opened for several hours, that’s going to increase our exposure.  Can anyone speak to how they’re maintaining an on-premise air gap solution and provide me with any suggestions?   I was thinking if we could somehow move that data to the air gap location via some sort of native hardware solution wi

We have client with oldes oracle db and we must use agent v10, but after upgrade commserve and media agent to 11.28 backups stop working, error sugest that this is problem with network but it’s not true.

(or I'm looking wrong)I understand only (based on the documentation) that every region must have 1 VSA.Is it possible to have 1 VSA (or 1 VSA/MA) for all subscriptions in one region? If yes, how do you build that within Azure? If no, then every subscription needs own VSA/MA? If no (from question 1), how do you arrange communication between VSA in different subscription? Is that with virtual network peering? Or should we look at hub spoke model (Azure)?

Hi All,I have deployed Storage Accelerator on a Linux host but it does not seem to be working as the cloud team states that data transfer is still occurring cross-account.My setup is as follow:Client - Account 1S3 Bucket Account 1Media Agent (DDB) - Account 2The Storage Pool is created with DDB enabled on the Media Agent in Account 2. The idea is to have the client writing to the S3 bucket in the same account.The Media Agent can access the bucket across the account as backups are completing. I tested uploading a file from the client to the S3 bucket by using "aws cli s3 upload" command which completed successfully.I also added the ARN credential on the cloud library for Storage Accelerator. Is the format of this correct?arn:aws:iam::123456789012:role/customer-mc-ec2-instance-profile-s3 In what log can I see the success or failure of Storage Accelerator usage?I have reviewed the below posts but did not really find anything specific.https://community.commvault.com/storage-and-deduplicati

CommServe Recovery Using Disaster Recovery (DR) Backups (NOT FAILOVER) 11.28.72OBS: I would like to test the DR Backup and run the procedure at least once a year.  I'm following the instructions here to test the DR backup in case of commserve disaster recovery.In the event of a disaster, when the production CommServe host becomes unusable or inaccessible, or if the CommServe host is moved to a new hardware, the latest Disaster Recovery (DR) backups can be used to rebuild the CommServe host. At step 4, we should use the CommServe Recovery Assistant Tool to restore the most recent Disaster Recovery (DR) backup from the production CommServe database to a standby or new CommServe host to resume the CommCell operations. For more information on recovering the CommServe database, see Recovering the CommServe Database Using the Recovery Assistant Tool. At step 2 from Recovering the CommServe Database Using the Recovery Assistant Tool for Windows page (here) we got the following instruction:  “

I am trying to configure my CommCell to forward logs to a syslog server, but I cannot find where to enter the syslog server details. I am unable to follow the procedure in the documentation, as it starts by referring to a ‘Navigation Pane’ that does not exist anywhere in my version 11.28.63 console, nor does any other button, icon, or link that leads to a menu named ‘Manage’.  The Control Panel does have a ‘System’ icon in the ‘CommCell’ section, however, the resulting menu does not have a ‘Syslog server’ tile. There do not appear to be any reference images of the console interface available anywhere, so I am at a loss to figure out how to proceed. 

My command center is decent, but often I have to wait while the Command Center populates. I would assume that this sluggishness is a combination of web-server performance and sql performance.Are there tips and tricks out there to make this thing fly?   

Earlier this year I switched my OneDrive backups from V1 to V2 backups and it was a problematic exercise that took several months and several support tickets to get working.  I’m trying to confirm our retention and storage for the auditors and an having some difficulty.  When I sign on to the Command Center, I see that OneDrive backups use the OneDrive BU V2 plan (Command Center > Protect > Office365 > OneDrive for Business > OneDrive_V2 > Content).  Clicking the OneDrive BU V2 link, I see the retention is set to 3 years (1095 days) but that it doesn’t specify the backup copies.  Plans > OneDrive BU V2 > 3 year retentionIf I go into Protect > Office365 > OneDrive for Business > OneDrive_V2 > Configuration, in the Infrastructure settings section I see Server Plan is O365_Plan.  Office 365 > IneDrive_V2 > Server plan = O365_Plan If I click on the O365_Plan link, I see that there are three copies of the backups although one is a Snapshot primary copy
