Hi,we would like to have an environment consisting of one Active CS host in the production site and one Standby CS host in a DR Site. Also we would like to enable automatic failover. And CS host will act as proxy for the client. Commvault documentation, at least for me, is not clear about all the ports that we need to open.Could you please help me find out?I understood that ports 8405 and 8408 and also 8090, 8091, 8097 for HAC needs to be open between the two CS, both direction. But I’m not sure which ports I need to open from the clients to both proxy CS.In the documentation it says “If the SQL clients are used as the proxy, verify that all the clients in the CommCell environment can communicate with the port and hostname of the SQL clients in both the active host and the passive CommServe hosts.” https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/106081_planning_for_commserve_livesync_setup.html Thanks
Hi guys,I have a question, When we have 2 tape libraries at 2 different sites but each site has the same barcode, is that possible? Thanks
Some Background - I’ve worked off and on with Commvault over the past several years and we currently are migrating data from a cloud-vendor back to on prem. The question I have is about a behavior I’ve never noticed before, but is probably from a lack of experience staring this closely at jobs as they run rather than something going wrong. I just want to understand it.The AUX copy that is currently running has 2 streams remaining. Last Friday 11/22, those two streams showing the following information:STREAM 1:Data to be Copied - 4.06 TBData Copied - 263.63 GBSTREAM 2:Data to be Copied - 926.14 GBData Copied - 221.9 GBThen this morning I log in to check up on the job and those same streams now show this:STREAM 1:Data to be Copied - 3.43 TBData Copied - 575.65 GBSTREAM 2:Data to be Copied - 842.33 GBData Copied - 298.26 GBOver the past week as I’ve been monitoring these two streams I’ve noticed these numbers shift in a way that the “Data to be Copied” amount shrinks and the “Data Copi
Hello,When retiering a Windows cluster that is backedup with commvault cluster client. Is it just to retiere the nodes or is there anything additional that is needed? BRHenke
Hello Community, The domain controller is currently hosted in vCenter. Our plan involves replicating the domain controller from one site to another using Commvault VMware Live Sync.Questions :Is Commvault support this, and are there any considerations specific to DC live sync? Our primary concern around the trust relationship. If the source DC VM becomes unavailable and we need to power on the replica in the DR site without the latest replication, there's a potential risk of breaking the trust relationship? Are there any other critical aspects we should take into consideration in this scenario? thanks
Hi Community,I can’t find anything therefore in the commvault documentation or somewere else.Does Commvault support the Oracle Easy Connect Naming Method?https://docs.oracle.com/en/database/oracle/oracle-database/18/ntcli/specifying-a-connection-by-using-the-easy-connect-naming-method.html#GUID-1035ABB3-5ADE-4697-A5F8-28F9F79A7504Thank you for answers.Tobi

Hello Team,Is there a way to determine storage allocation per server on a primary disk copy?I’ve tried to run reports, use Command Center and I can’t seem to find any options to include particular servers and then see how much space their backups are consuming on our primary disk copy. Thanks!
Hi, Like my name state, I’m quite a beginner so please bear with me.I’m writing this after finding a similar post answered more than a year ago that didn’t quite answer my own question.https://community.commvault.com/self-hosted-q-a-2/average-throughput-information-read-write-network-ddb-lookup-meaning-2854 I have this job that backup a SMB File share running on my media agent. The file share contains RDS Profiles and HomeDirectory so it contains millions of relatively small files. The job has been running for 3 days and it’s ETA is at least 7 days. The Job details / Progress tab / Load portion says : Read 98% Write 0.07% Network 0.47% DDB Lookup 1.30% with a current throughput of 0.001 GB/hr. I have no idea where it got the Average Throughput from because I’ve never seen it over 1GB/hr).The Subclient job setting / Advanced settings / Performance tab / Number of Data Readers is fixed to 10 data readers. My questions are :Read being that high and others start so low, does that means the b
I recently configured Catalyst over ethernet and I haven’t any issues during the integration, even a single VM backup test was successful, however when I scheduled a subclient with multiple VMs (5) the job is going to waiting state with the below error: Error Code: [62:2910]Description: Error occurred in Disk Media, Path [CATVMsManagement\1NDD43_11.24.2023_02.03\CV_MAGNETIC\V_3] [-1404 OSCLT_ERR_SERVER_OFFLINE]. For more help, please call your vendor's support I did validate the Store in Commvault and it is in status Ready and access Read/Write, Moun Path Allocation Policy is set to Maximum Allowed Writers. Also ran a mountpath validation on the store and it was successful. The error is only thrown when there is more than 1 VM in the subclient. Is there something else to configure to allow multiple data streams run on the StoreOnce side? Here a sniplet of Job Manager.log19296 66c8 11/23 22:31:12 19 Servant Remote Stream Allocation request for [4] streams of type [1] received. Req
Does Commvault backup the nfs mount path in the Vm while backup...? do we need to add any additional settings..? if the backup is failed due to Error “ scasi-0-nfs share is not accessible”. how would we troubleshoot it. what are the basic steps to check first?
SQL backups do not resume upon suspending? Resuming causes SQL backups to start over or skip current database and move to next one? So should we prefer the job to be killed if it is going to pending state repeatedly and not suspend it. This way, next schedule can kick in and run successfully.
So… this is probably a stupid question but…I’m a long time CommVault client and I’m slowly switching from the java GUI to the Command Center. This week we installed a new AD server so I went into CC, created a backup plan, and installed the CV AD client on the new server. Now I want to run a full backup but… there doesn’t seem to be any way to do that. When I go to Protect > Active Directory, I see the new server but there’s no option in the Action menu to run a backup. Am I missing something?
Hi, For data security I was told to do search on the WORM option at Primary copy level of our storage policies.. Just a bit of background of our environment, we have short data retention set on our Primary Copy - 35 days 1 cycle. My understanding is that this WORM option in storage polices work within Commvault software and no admin(or anyone) can delete backup jobs after it is enabled, and we have to wait for job to age out and then be pruned by commvault automatically. Then I was advised that if I enable WORM, DDB for its storage policy will be sealed. A new DDB will be created automatically after rebaselined. So I have some questions below. is DDB sealing an automate process? i did enable WORM option more than a month ago for a storage policy for testing but I cannot see a sealed ddb under ‘Deduplication engines’. Our disk libraries are quite big (from 300 TB to 800TB). if we need to do the rebaseline every time, will this take long time and have impact on performance? With only 35
Do we have to enable the worm copy from Commvault side to have the backups stored on the Azure immutable containers with Deduplication that will be sealed in a set of intervals?
Hi! According : https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/22355_configuring_sap_hana_system_replication.html “The order must be the primary node and the secondary nodes.” How to change node order from webconsole? I can select nodes but not set up the order : From java console node order can be switched using arrows : Thanks.
hello, I am presented with the need to install FREL on an existing VM with the operating system already in place, a task I haven't tackled previously. Admittedly, my proficiency in Linux is currently a work in progress. Here's my understanding so far; however, I humbly seek your guidance to navigate through this process more effectively. first we install MA and VSA on Read only mode.Ensure that RPC services are running (rpcinfo -p / Systemctl status rpcbind).from point one where what exactly need to be installed filesystem ida…?(if yes should i install it read only) point 4 will i get those options on Linux in that path…?? point 6. is that script preconfigured….?
Hi,May I know if there is a reference link on how to setup the following media agent configuration below? I tried to check on their site but seems that part is not availableActive-Standby Media Agent setup Acvtive-Active Media Agent setup
Configuring Cassandra client in our environment and the Engineers want to create a Service Account for CV backups with Cassandra. However couldn’t find a doc on minimal permissions needed for backups and restore, anyone know if one exists?
I’d like use Auto Recovery for Azure VM, only find article to introduce how to configure it. could anyone guide how it works?create snapshot → backup copy to local cloud library → AUX. to DR site cloud library→ restore as new disk?
We are planning to upgrade to 11.32 version for our Unix media agent server(physical)Kindly help us to know about compatibility with below details Model: "ia64 hp Integrity BL860c i4" Machine serial number: SGH413E1M5 OS:HP-UX B.11.31 Platform:ia64
Good morning guys!Doubts best practices for removing a VM from the backup routine.Would it just be disabling it in Activity control or using retire?
Hello,Currently working on a hardware refresh. Old server is CV 11.16. New server will be CV 2023e. Took a DR backup of the old server and tried to restore it on the new server using the Recovery Assistant but i’m getting error during the “Check and Upgrade database as needed”.CSRecoveryAssistant.log shows:21212 5 11/23 13:54:11 ### ### ### - Upgrading database commserv21212 5 11/23 13:54:11 ### ### ### - Launching DatabaseUpgrade.exe -phasename All -instance Instance001 -productname CommServer -oemId 1 -DBUpgradeDir "C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\Base\DBUpgrade" -DBBackupDir "C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\iDataAgent\JobResults" -log "C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\Log Files" 21212 5 11/23 13:54:11 ### ### ### - Executing process: [DatabaseUpgrade.exe]21212 5 11/23 14:06:19 ### ### ### - Error: Execution of process [DatabaseUpgrade.exe] exited with code [2]21212 5 11/23 14:06:19 ### ### ### - Error: Failed upgrading database commserv. Hello,We have a couple of servers which utilize RDM disks in VMWAre. These servers can’t have snapshots taken (as per errors in CV) because of these disks, even with disk filters applied. These servers are SQL servers, we need to protect the SQL data via the agent as per standard. We also need to protect the OS & D drive for ease of restoring these VMs. Based on the fact we can’t take snapshots, I need to protect the VM via the file server agent too.I attempted to install the file server agents over the SQL agents but it removed the SQL agent and put the file server agent in place instead. Is there a ways to leverage SQL & File Server agents at the same time? Thanks in advance
We have restored a few.mdb and other log files from the system state backup. The files have been restored, but a number has been added to each file. Please refer to the PFA snapshot for reference.
