Hello Team, I am migrating a SQL Cluster from Data protector to Commvault. Do you know if we can migrate by leaving data protector installed and running, and moving gradually the DB backup to Commvault one by one ? I Just want to know if Data protector and Commvault can run together. Data protector will be uninstalled when all DB will be backed up successfully to Commvault. Thanks !  

Is there a schedule policy for restoration?

This is my 6th or 7th RA deployment and first time I have run into this issue. I ran through the process up setting up the 25G bonded networks (one for DP and one for storage) got the system into the commserve and then went to have it update to the latest version. cvupgradeos.py ran fine for hedvig updating to 4.7.13, but when I went to upgrade from 11.24 which was pre-loaded on the nodes the first server succeeded, but the second hung. It didn’t give me any feed back. I opened a case and have been waiting to get any feedback.  I am unable to ssh between nodes now and occasionally can using the DP network. I verified that there is nothing wrong with the network stack. Ping, netstat all is good. The services are up and listening. Firewalls are disabled. I ran a nc -vvv (node name) 22 and it connects but hangs. Connection is not refused, nor terminated at the other end. Hello, I’m using Commvault v11.32.28.In building some custom Python scripts that utilize the API I’ve found an endpoint that seems to be broken, or else I’m not using it properly.The endpoint is: /V4/Storage/Tape/{libraryId}/MediaMy understanding is that this is supposed to return media associated with a specific tape library. The “/V4/Storage/Tape” endpoint works, returning details about my library.But “/V4/Storage/Tape/{libraryId}/Media” gives me a status 200 (success), but no data.Is anyone else out there successfully gathering media details from the API?

Our SQL client server has 2 interfaces. Backup runs on one VLAN but cluster config runs on the other VLAN. I was able to setup backup as single node instance and running. After creating a Failover Cluster INstance it cannot add the SQL instances into it as it has connection problems. My question is.. do we need to have both node and cluster IP in one VLAN?

Hello,we plan to backup our exchange online environment.Is it possible to combine, Index Servers and access node one same servers ?2 powerfull Servers instead of 4. Thanks  

Have an old Exchange backup on tape from an old Commvault which we no longer have, I can restore Server backups using mediaexplorer tool and I can see the Exchange DB backups on there but the restore option is greyed out on the exchange DBsIs it possible to restore the exchange DBs from an old tape using the MediaExplorer tool ?Thanks for any help.J

I want to create an alert for consecutive transaction log backups, but there do not seem to be any tokens for job type. Any suggestion?

Hello Commvault Experts, I'm dealing with a time synchronization issue in our setup where Hazelcast is missing its 5-second heartbeats, presumably due to 30-second time leaps during our backup snapshots. This results in dropped connections and servers hanging, a problem that emerged suddenly. We suspect that Commvault snapshot operations might be causing this. Would application-aware backups be the right approach to prevent such disruptions, especially for time-sensitive applications like Hazelcast and ActiveMQ? If so, what specific application-aware backup configurations does Commvault support for these applications? Any insights on strategies to maintain operational integrity during backups would be highly valuable.Thanks for your help.

I am doing a restore that requires a linux file recovery enabler, for an on-prem restore.For various reasons I cannot deploy a new FREL but I have a FREL in Azure. I assume that the FREL is only used to browse the restore metadata, and the actual restore will be done without using the Azure FREL and without being bonked over the head with egress charges.    

Hello,Restore Guest files from the primary Netapp storage works perfectly but not from the secondary storage (snapvault destination).From the list of snapshots, the snapshot is failed to mount.On “Browse and Restore”, error is : Unrecognized error 30On primary Cluster Ontap, Datastores are on FCP LUN.On secondary Cluster Ontap, Primary LUN are replicated on volume.I suppose we have to configure the secondary Cluster, what do we have to do , LUN FCP, LUN ISCSI, NFS Volumes ? Hi there, I have a question. I have a customer that a few days ago try to do a backup from and endpoint for the file type (.bak). Is it possible to do the backup for this type of files?Or I need to do this from the File & Object backup?Can you help me? 

Hello, We have Commvault server simpana version 11.28.68. In Tape library there is error for one tape “Remove the cartridge and inspect it for damage. Retry operation with another cartridge.”, but in Commvault console I do not see any error for this tape and it is used for backup.I plan to mark that tape somehow (perhaps prevent reuse) so that it is not backed up and can be used for restore until the retention expires.Best regards,Elizabeta

ANF SAP HANA will generate 12TB archive file daily, will save them on Azure cool tier with 1 year retention.  Does Commvault support lifecycle? prefer to save first month archive file in archive tier for quick restore, remain 11 months archive file in archive tier for cost saving

We are working on getting all our backup media servers patched up so they are up to date.   Once patched how do you patch or confirm the physical servers with the agent loaded get up to date.ThanksMike

Hello Team,One of our requirement is that the current commvault is running hyperscale environment and Commserve also running on hyperscale. Now the hardware want to refresh it, so we are planning to go new hyperscale with new commserve or will migrate existing commserve with all backup data and existing policies. Please advise how to approach this migration. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,could you please explain to me the differences between deduplication on Client vs Deduplication on Media agent when taking into account NDMP backup and backup of VMs? Of course, for file system agent, the deduplication on client occurs on the client (server with os) itself. However, when backing up VMs (using Hotadd or SAN mode) what does mean deduplication on client? There is only pseudo virtual server client/agent, so deduplication (on client) take place on VSA proxy? And for NDMP backup - where is done deduplication on client? There, the data should be sent without any intervetion with filesystem, to be backed up. I will be very gratefull for your anwers!

Hello what is the actual access node requirement for HPE scality using Amazon S3 service ,the below line is confusing me , does it mean if i have more than 1 access node those should have same OS or i should install the same os of hpe scality  

Greetings all I have a customer who decomissioned Commvault a few months back and they now need to recover some data.The Commserve and Media Agents were deleted.We intend to restore the last DR_SET backup that was taken to create a new Commserve and a new Media Agent (Linux).The Library was configured as a NFS share and that backup data is still available in the cloud provider’s infrastructure.In order to access the mount path, do I just share it in the ‘Sharing’ tab on the original Media Agent’s properties and then add the data path in the Storage Policy copy (wasn’t the primary copy). The DDB is on longer available, but we wouldn’t need it just for restores.We’re only restoring File System Data. Is there anything else I need to consider? Thanks,Mauro

 I read that only EMC Celerra/VNX is supported for 3-way NDMP and have been doing this for years. We are now moving to begin backing up multiprotocol shares off of ONTAP in cluster mode, so  I’m wondering if NDMP backups can be done similarly - tapeless, but backing up volumes via NDMP to capture both sets of permissions. Or, is this simply not an option with ONTAP and the only way to do NDMP is via tape (direct)?If NDMP tape-less isn’t supported then I guess that means the NAS client is the only way and we need to pick NFS or SMB, correct? The MA in this particular case in Linux, so NFS it will be if the 3-way isn’t and option direct to disk.thanks!
