Can the value of the Size of Application field from Backup Job Details be changed while the job is running (after Scan phase)?

Hello, is there a best practice guide if I want to separate a Commvault web server from the CommServe. I want to outsource the web server to its own VM. And another problem I would like to solve is the accessibility after a failover. We have a problem in our production environment that the web/admin console is not available after failover. In the production environment, the web server was disconnected from CommServe from the beginning.   Kind RegardsThomas

Hi All, Came across this thread, and all the replies were very helpful, had another question regarding DDB sealing.Why do we need to seal the DDB when using Cloud library ? And can we defer its execution as far back as possible ?  Kind regards.

Hi Commvault-people. I have a large partitioned DDB which has been writing to a Cloud-based library, and has been for some time. The DDB partitions are roughly 2 TB’s in size. As is recommended when you have been writing to Cloud libraries, it should at some point be sealed, and I would like to go ahead. We are also on the cusp of the maximum threshold for Q&I times. However, I need to make sure I have enough space for my DDB on the current volumes. So the question is, what happens to the old DDB? I am assuming that it will remain at 2 TB’s in size until there is a corresponding reference for the blocks in the new DDB, or the blocks eventually age and are therefore not required. Maybe that will take months. Quite probably. Whilst it ages out old blocks, will the old DDB reduce in size? But what can I expect from the new DDB? If I only have a 3 TB volume, and 2TB is taken up by the o

I have two tapes that are not in the "Default Scratch" Media Group. I don't know why. and I can't move them.One media in media group "overwrite Protect media" all taks, move, the media cannot be moved as it is not a spare mediaThe second media is in Catalog media and I don’t have the option to move it .these two medias were used like others medias that I use. Hi,My customer having issue where they claim suddenly they have prob to login to console due to 2 way authentication enable. It cannot send the email to the respective user. Anyway that can be done to disable the 2 way authentication without access to console? Refer attached picture for reference.

Hi guys, In order to configure hardware WORM beside commvault’s WORM, we found this note "If you have multiple storage policies/copies created using the cloud storage pool, make sure to set the same number of days as retention in all the copies." under the link below :https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/9251_configuring_worm_storage_mode_on_cloud_storage.html Does that mean that all the secondary copies that have to be stored on the WORM storage have to have the same retention ? It got me a little confused. Since in our case, from each Storage Policy we will create a new copy that will be saved to the WORM Storage, do we have to assign the same retention to all the newly created copies ? Thanks in advance

If we back up a 3000 user with 40TB Exchange data, what would be the expected storage usage taking into account deduplication and compression, with one year retention?

Hi Team,I have a remote site B which i want to restore VM.The Remote Site Host are connected with vCenter at site A.I have deployed one Media Agent at site B.when i select that Media Agent at site B (same host/same site) i cannot browse the Datacenter / Host list.I able to restore use Media Agent at A site.i have to use B site MA in order make the restoration process run faster where the site A MA took 4Hours for restore since cross site. Please advise which setting i have to do to fix the error. Thanks.   

I downloaded the version 11 Download manager 22.9 MB, I go to install it and commvault install is blocked on my client so I have to get larger install package.I am on version 11.25.32, is there another install package that is smaller than 2gb / 11.25.36 I know before the install packages were 300MB.     

Hi all. Does anyone have any rough figures on the time it takes for the script to complete the work, and the media agent become available again?I have 6 Hyperscales in a block, with about 300TB of backup data on the block and am just wondering how long Activity will have to be disabled for.

Quick question. I understand the longest time per backup task is 10 seconds. Is there someway to get around that limitation?If no, that’s ok. I’ll just break out clients into separate schedule policies.

We deployed 7 CommCell servers and got 7 Command center portal. Could Commvault provide centralize portal to manage all Command center URL?Our operation team want to access one portal, then they could click each Command center portal to finish these routine job.

Is anyone using NetApp for CommVault disk library, we just replaced the HP MSA2050 with NetApp FAS2720, this is 72 SATA 14.5 disk enclosure. The write performance is great but read is supper slow. The Aux copy is very slow for SQL DB backup and Exchange. I run Validate Storage on 1 path, all backup and aux was disabled, that is the max read of 31 MB/Sec   

I see in the docs that Metallic VM backup supports Hyper-V hosts and Hyper-V clusters.But I have not found in the docs how to set up a cluster. Ex.Do I load the Proxy on all nodes, and Metallic figures out which node to use for which VM? We are planning a demo, so there is no trial and error and previous knowledge of Metallic VM setup.(We are using the Office365 backups only at this point) 

Hi, Is it possible to backup the NFS drive mounted from the Client. I tried to add mount path in the subclient properties under content tab. Then run the backup but its failed. If possible what is the proper way to backup the nfs mount path from the Client.

I get the same Events in JavaConsoles EventViewer, but the Alert Rules don’t include all those new IDs. Do Admins need to manually update those predefined Rules or should the Upgrade have done that?

We have a lot of VMs which changed the backup from filesystem based to VSA and some from VSA to filesystem based. When we move a FS backup client to VSA backup we do uninstall CommVault software.I expect when we move a client from VSA to FS backup, the VSA configuration (client properties) should be gone when last backup it’s aged out, same in the other direction. If not is there a possibility to remove it? Or what we need to do to have a clean commcell.my problem is: when I catch information via API I am not sure if I got current configuration or the old configuration. sample: I see then last backup taken via FS backup 2 weeks ago but hidden we taken VSA backups which are up2date.CV version: 11.24.34regards Juergen

Hi, I am still learning about commVault and I am trying to fix an issue with a Commvault > CloudApps job which have three buckets as Subclient. Two S3 buckets are backing up ok and the other one getting errors in the specific job history some times [82:129] and some times [19:583] Description: Another backup is running for client [Custom_AWS_S3], iDataAgent [Cloud Apps], Backup Set [defaultBackupSet], Subclient. I don’t know its anything to do with the credentials used for the S3_EU region but the client readiness checks saying “ready”. I am still struggling to find why two buckets backing up using the same IAM credentials? So why just one bucket backup task is failing for the job. Please give me some insight into it. ThanksSuj
