Hello,We are doing POC for one of the customer. They are using MySQL 8.0.25-15 on Ubuntu 20.04. We installed Commvault v11.26.8. We enabled xtrabackup and we are trying to full backup. Mysql connections of users drop while backup is in progress. They are restarting services and connections are coming back. Any idea why backup dropping users connection? I’m sharing log files with you.Regards,İbrahim

When I browse a VM for “guest Files and Folders” (file and print server) from Hyper-V backups I see duplicate drive letters. The VM has 14 drives. This changed after a certain date and only occurs for 1 specific client. The other 2 VMs (also FnP servers) are okay. Drive letters are as they should be.Drive letters are C, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, P, Q, R, S, T, but when I browse for recover, I see C, C, F, F, G, G, H, H, I, I, J, J, L, L. The contents also do not match. E.g. when I browse both Cs display contents for the actual F drive.If I browse the “Virtual Machine Files” I can see the correct drives (vhdx files) listed.I have tried from different copies, but all are the same.1st copy is a snap, 2nd is backup copy and 3rd off-site copy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

HelloI registered a schedule to run only File system full backup in the V11 SP16 environment.However, it has been confirmed that only incremental backup continues to run when checking the backup history.Can this phenomenon be modified to Hotfix?

Do you see these error for your jobs?When we updated from 11.20.32 to 11.20.60 we started getting Cache-Database errors on various backup types, FileSystem idata agent, NDMP backups and others.The exact error we get is:Error Code: [40:110]Description: Client-side deduplication enabled job found Cache-Database and Deduplication-Database are out of sync.I have a ticket open with support, but I am wondering if the issue is unique to us or if it is happening to other customers as well. Thank you,

Just curious, as I’ve found Silverlight installed in a few places that should be “commvault only” and don’t know why or how it got there. I’m betting ‘no” because I’m not seeing “Silverlight” mentioned in any forum or knowledge search here, but wanted to see if anyone knows/ran into any things commvault might have (or be) used for it in the past ( think way back to v10 if you can!).

Hi all I’m creating Custom Dashboards in Metrics Server for various business units.The creation of them is not a problem and all the info is there.I’m struggling when I want the view to be specific to client groups or storage policies as an example. When I edit the report that the tile uses, and I save the view, the info is correct. I then deploy that report to the Dashboard, but once refreshed the tile brings back the information for the entire landscape.I assume I’m just doing something wrong in my creation of the custom reports?Regards,Mauro

Hi,We are taking backup of 1.000+ endpoints and we are trying to analyze our backup data. Like; what is the percentage of pst files, or excel files? How much space do word file consume? and things like that. And we cant see relevant reports for this purpose. Does anyone know if we need activate/data insights licenses for this purpose or we can generate relevant reports without additional licenses? regards. 

Interestingly enough there are 2 conflicting theories regarding SQL and ORA transaction log deduplication and pruning question. There is one from CV support engineer:  “We discussed high Q&I times and any way to reduce the load on the DDB.We both acknowledged that SQL Transaction Logs are not deduplicated, however you were curious if the T-Log backups communicated in anyway to the DDB which may impose any, albeit minimal, load or processing on the DDB.I was able to confirm that SQL Transaction Log backups do not communicate with the Deduplication process and therefore will not have any effect on Q&I times: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/12434_deduplication_support.html””…………………………...But but but, other CV engineer says if the storage policy used fo

We have an existing CommServe and we’ve recently added the LiveSync option to it.  (CSMain.domain.local and CSMainLiveSync.domain.local) We created another CommServe for backup and installed it with the LiveSync option.  (CSBackup.domain.local and CSBackupLiveSync.domain.local) The Computer Group “CVLiveSync” was created and three clients were automatically added: CSMain, CSMainLivesync and CSBackupLiveSync. In the CommServe’s Control Panel, clicking “CommServe LiveSync” (to complete the configuration) we are presented with a popup that simply says “Message” with the option “OK” Has anyone seen this?  What have I missed in the setup?  Online install documents have not shown me any steps I’ve missed.  Please assist. (Our SQL instances on the primary and the backup are not the same version.  Does this matter?)

Hi,We had a backup of a virtual machine that backed up on a host that wasnt included in calculations for VM Socket licensning. I have moved the virtual machine to a host that was included in the VM socket licensning and have taken an incremenmntal and Synthetic full (which in job properties show as being on the hypervisor host i expect) yet the VM Socket licensning is still showing as using a VM Socket license for the “extra” host.This has been the case for a few days so licensning would definitely have been refreshed.Any help to release this licnese would be appreciated.Thanks

Hi All,I want to be sure that I am understanding the Commcell communication requirements. As I understand it there is one commserve server per commcell. For agents on endpoints, the agents have to communicate on port 8040. For the agent to be installed SMB is also required. From a security point of view it seems very risk allowing one server access to the entire server estate! Am I missing something?

Hi, We currently have our CommServe running on a Microsoft Cluster server in a dual datacenter setup. We need to migrate to new datacenters where Microsoft Cluster is not possible / allowed. The idea is to convert the current CommServe from a MS Clustered setup to a CommServer with LiveSync. First migrate the CommServe to a Standalone solution and then setup the LiveSync on the Standalone solution.My question: Is this possible and what are the setup for this? Kind regards,Marc

I am trying to set up a two node Azure SQL Cluster in Commvault.  The nodes get installed just fine, as does the cluster instance.  However when I try to add the database on this cluster I get the err message that’s in the title.  I’ve obviously changed the SQL name for security purposes but no matter what I try it will not add the new database instance.  Both nodes and the cluster instance are pingable from each other and from the commcell itself but cant add in a SQL database.  Ive configured the nodes as DIP’s in the control panel and the corresponding network settings show this. Anyone any ideas on whats Im doing wrong or missing?  Im tearing my hair out with this and have no issues with on prem sql instances. CheersTony_Q71

Hi guy, A few days ago, because of an oversight, our Commvault system license was over the capacity limit, then today, after I deleted loads of unwanted backups, the used license has been brought down to 14.202 TB, which is well under the total license of 17 TB. However, the “The system is over the licensed capacity / blabla” warning message just wouldn’t go away. So, I’m just wondering if there is anymore that I need to do ?

We have a job for our Kubernetes environment where there are three "vms" that are failing. The description in the General Tab has the details- "vm-ae25e5a6-a988-49d7-b485-f8d4cd9de3c3_653332_GX_BACKUP] was not found." Another error in the Events Tab indicates that this vm, "vm-bf48b8ed-1bdc-4a73-8954-4bc291167237_653332_GX_BACKUP] was not found." The Virtual Machine Status tab gives a Failure reason, "Virtual Machine not Found." for both of these vms. These vms have been added to the Content Tab within the Properties of the Sub Client (default). I can also see them when I browse for them. vCenter is creating Snapshots for both of these vms, however it appears that the Snapshots are deleted before they are backed up. Curious as to why this is happening and why they cannot be found. Event Description-Virtual machine [vm-b5a2ab24-676a-4050-867f-6110d65777b6_744463_GX_BACKUP] was not found. DDB lookup times spiked, SSD are old SATA and under heavy load seem to be very slow. Is pruning only related to a data that is deduplicated? If ORA or SQL DB transaction logs being written to non deduplicated storage policy is pruning at all relevant to that data? How much DDB is being used during pruning? Is it very DDB intensive process?

Hi, we have a customer where we want to implement VMware continuous replications for his large VMs (11TB+).We have tested it with a small VM and it was running fine. but we have noticed that during the first sync it creates a VMware snapshot to backup/create the VM on the destination site. After the VM is created and the baseline is there the snapshot is removed and continuous replication is running.We have calculated how much time the first initialization has taken. The conclusion is that when we do this for the large VMs they will have a snapshots for almost two weeks. Now we are afraid that when we start a replication for this large VM and it will have a snapshot for two weeks, that after the first initialization the consolidation of the snapshot will give problems to the source VM.Is there anybody having a solution for the VMware continuous replication for large VMs? Is there a workaround for this like seeding or something?Regards Dominic

Hi, I have a question regarding metrics server package installation. Comcell to which I want to attach metrics host is on 11.24.32, but metrics package I chose is v11.25.latest because we have 5 comcells in total and 2 of them are already on sp25 and if I heard correctly - metrics should be the highest version?Install is failing to check client install requirement with CommServe. When I specify commserve host name I can see in the logs @@COMMSERVE@@ instead of the hostname that I’ve specified as well.Error: 1900  8     04/12 14:39:15 ### ### ### - Error: Failed to check client install requirement with CommServe.1900  1     04/12 14:39:15 ### ### ### - Server Error:  (Error) Given package is not a valid package [67109493]. 

Post 7.7 How many releases happened, what are those I need this Info 

There is a requiremment from Unix team to extract a list of Unix servers (no windows or other OS) currently backing up in commvault. Usually I am using report → job summary tab to generate other reports in commvault. Is there any way to generate only Unix servers which are backing up in commvault without missing any servers. Thanks in advance
