I need to encrypt the data that is getting Auxed to tapes for a specific Client. How do we do?

Hi Team, We are installing commvault agent on few Linux servers. we have firewall in place and we are using 8403 port for tunnel. Network/Linux team says that port 8400 & 8403 is opened bi-directionally but when we do telnet from the commserve, port 8403 is not connecting. we went ahead and installed the agent on linux server, once the cvfwd service started, 8403 port is start listening.  Two questions here :-1. before installing the agent , how to confirm from commvault end that port 8403 is opened ? as telnet/cvping is not helping is there any command, we can use on the client itself to see whether port 8403 is working before installing the agent and before starting the cvfwd services ?

On CV 11.20.9 we backuped Oracle DB from SPARC Solaris to MA RedHar8.4.If we set “Optimized For concurrent LAN backups” on MA then speed = 1800 GB per hour, if we unset “Optimized For concurrent LAN backups”, then speed=5500 GB per hour.All other settings are identical.What changed in MA configuration when set “Optimized For concurrent LAN backups”?

Hello, does anyone have any advice on this error during a VM restore test?ERROR CODE [91:379]: Host [] was not found to restore VM [].Source: CVMA01, Process: cvdOne thing I found is that Check Readiness fails when ran on the vcenter. Its pointing to a virtual (VA) server that no longer exists. Only the physical MA is present. I suspect this is the issue. Is there any way to change it to use the physical MA and not this missing VM? I do not know why the VM was removed or why the physical MA is not the server being pointed to for jobs. The interesting thing is that the backup jobs are completing successfully like nothing is wrong. When I look at Browse and Restore, all of the servers VMDK files are marked as “Unavailable” but the other files (log, vmx, vmxf etc)  on each VM have date stamps. 

I need help, all my jobs are failing with the same error below.  

I had this issue; wherein I had installed Linux agent; which took a bit of time and waited on Registering screen during the install.  After the install it would not show up on the Commserve console screen; I had tried closing console; opening it; restarting services on the server.  Finally had to do the repair install which is an option one gets when you rerun ./cvpkgadd 

HelloAfter the backup is completed on the Linux Client server on which the File system agent is installed, the used memory cannot be returned.Memory returns normally after the server power is restarted.However, after the backup starts again and is complete, the memory used for the backup is not returned again. The backup job for this server starts at 21:00 every day. This is the amount of change in memory before and after the backup starts after the server power is rebooted. After the backup is complete, the memory usage is as follows.Memory usage for processes on that server. The Linux OS for this server is Redhat 6.2 and the installed Commvault version is V10 SP15.

The commvault client failed to install when manually installing and now we get the window of “Unfinished installation detected”  Resume install OR Clean up unfinished installation and start over.  I would like to run the Clean Up Unfinished installation and Start Over but this radio button is not selectable.  I have seen this in the past and I believe there is a registry setting that can be changed to make that option selectable. Does anyone know the registry setting?  Using Version 11.24.34

Hi All, we had the situation that we had an local exchange installation with commvault mail archiving. We decided to go into O365 cloud with all the mailboxes.  Is there any option to do an mass recall from all stubs included all attachments into the O365 mailboxs ? 

Hello everyone, IHAC who runs huge VM environment and given their infra env commcell should be divided into several domains. And they plan to configure a license server for streamlined license use. (capacity based)Let’s say customer configures 3 commcells - one license server and two child commcells.I figured out child commcells pull the license from license server as much as they need.Assuming a child commcell pulled the license of 20TB quantity but become to use just 10TB as many clients are retired.For this situation, does child commcells return the unused license of 10TB by itself? or license server take back it automatically? Thanks

In the Commvault “public cloud architecture guide for amazon web services” is a note about using only a single mount path when using AWS S3:Do not create multiple mount paths to generate additional Amazon S3 performance, Amazon S3 increased request rate enhancements have removed the need to randomize object prefixes to achieve faster performance with S3.But my question is: what’s the recommended mount path count when using an on-prem S3 Storage system as library in Commvault? The vendor of the storage does not care. They say they can handle one single bucket in one single mount path and scale unlimited. But what about Commvault?

we have some set of weekend backups which is very important for customer. If any backup failures happen, customer want to send the mobile notification to his mobile. is it possible  ??? What options do we have for push notification for backup failure in commvault.  is it possible to send to a cell number?

Hello everyone!I've configured a File Server with a Data Drive and a System State Backup. I'm a little perplexed when I look at the AUX copy history because of the following numbers. For your convenience, I've attached a sample AUX copy behavior.Commvault is not copying data based on date and is jumping back and forth in time.I couldn't find any sort of prioritization system based on the date, backup type, or content.Can anyone describe how Commvault prioritizes data for secondary copies and how that priority can be changed?Is it possible to define a client-based priority for Aux copy? Thanks in Advance,Manikandan

Hello, I would like to set up a HotAdd node in our vcenter. We have already deployed a VM with Windows Server 2022. Is there any kind of How to guide to do the Commvault part here ? 

We use RestAPI to get space usage values of our Libraries in Commvault for reporting purposes, especially Total Capacity, Free Space and Used Space.For Disc Libraries this is no problem, but we’re currently doing testing with S3 Storage as Libraries and there we face an issue with that, as these values can’t be extracted.In the Command Center we see the “Size on disk”With QCommands (qlist media -l) we see the  “TOTAL DATA(GB)” And with RestAPI (GET Library Details) we see “N/A”  Quota on the S3 Bucket has been set, so from my understanding this Quota should act as a “Capacity” value from a Commvault side. How can we extract this data from Commvault?

Hello, we need to move a media agent and the backup storage to another rack in April. Our environment is configured so that the backup storage volumes are set up as CSV (Clustered Shared Volumes).So both media agents can access the backup storage of the other site. If we had to move only the media agent, I would say that it is enough to put it into maintenance mode in Commvault. Then we could shut down the media agent and install it in the new rack. However, since the site's backup storage also goes offline, the question would be whether we could still keep the backup service running or if we would have to plan for downtime. I know that backup jobs run on errors with the storage policy for the affected site. I would also redirect these to the second site for the time period. The point of my question is whether Commvault will have a problem when volumes are no longer accessible. Kind RegardsThomas

I’m currently performing backups of Azure Fileshare for a subscription using Commvault. The backup is being performed in one Azure region and customer wants to restore the Azure Fileshare to another region.  What do I need to do perform that type of restore in Commvault?

hi, we recently where discussing a few security concerns for one of our customer.now there is a specific file located on the CS:/webconsole/common/bootstrap/javascripts/bootstrap.min.js Bootstrap 3.3.6this seems to be Deprecated by the provider.and is giving a high priority alert. how ever i do not see this listed in the https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/expert/146231_security_vulnerability_and_reporting.html as far as i see i do not see that this updated on their system (currently 24.34.). could you provide us with an idea of when this will be upgraded through commvault? kind Regards,Thos Gieskes.

HyperV backup is failing to backupk 30 or so VM.   The failed VM shows this error: “Virtual machine has snapshots older than configured expiry threshold hours. The backup encountered errors while removing expired snapshots for the virtual machine. Please try removing them manually and retry backup.”Removing the expired snapshots?  Where?
