Hi,I want to add to all Commvault servers (Commserves, media agents etc) dedicated second interface and VLAN to have managament network (ssh, RDP, webconsole and java console) with identity access. Then restrict default interface to allow only backup traffic.Do I need to do anything on Commvault level in this case? I’m not sure if login to java console / web console to Commserve will work on the second IP / hostname out of the box (because login to actual hostname will be blocked).
Hi,considering a customer with 800 Entra ID accounts on his MSA 365 tenant) and 300 AD users on on-prem AD how much licenses we have to buy of Commvault Cloud B&R Saas for AD? The target storage is located on? Tks.FabrizioMTL-AD-USR
Hi Team,I have successfully passed the Commvault Certified Professional Exam - Partners and Employees, but I have not yet received the corresponding badge.Could you please assist in checking this matter?Thank you.
Hi all,We would like to restore an old VM backup from AWS library in Commvault. However, it is unable to restore with an error “unable to find/get index cache[ ] at time [ ]” .Is there any way to fix such as reconstruct the index?
Good day I'm trying to integrate Cache Database Backups according to Commvault recommended solution.https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/intersystems_iris_cache_database_backups.html The Cache DB - Located on a RHEL VM(v8) - Running on a VMware Environment. - Has OpenTools installed. vSphere 8.0.2 23319993 ESXi, 7.0.3, 19193900 Commserve - 11.28.102 Media Agent (Windows 2022) - CV 11.28.102 FREL - 11.28.102 I began by reviewing the documentation:https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/creating_virtualization_client_for_vmware_vcenter_02.html The vcentre portion was already configured:With the MA as an access node and the FREL Server is assigned. I created a new VM Group and associated the CACHE Server in question. Assigned to a new Storage Policy that I created prior. During the Backup Phase there is no credential issues when connection to the Vcentre via the VSA. Next I followed the following guide. https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/performing_b
Hello,I’m planning to use the workflow to migrate the media agent role from Windows 2012 to Windows 2019.The maglib has 4 mount paths, 17TB in total. The mount paths are different sizes (see screenshot below). Do i need to give my new mount paths the same size storage or can i provision 4x4.5TB mount paths? Is Commvault smart enough to distribute the data evenly over the new mount paths?I’ve used the workflow successfully already but always on servers with 1 mount path in the maglib. Thanks in advanceRegardsFergus

Hello Commvault Community,We are planning to migrate to the latest Commvault version, which no longer supports V1 indexing. As we prepare for this transition, I would like to gather insights and advice from those who have already gone through this process.Questions:What are the essential steps to ensure a smooth migration from V1 to V2 indexing? What are the critical considerations to keep in mind during the migration? Are there any known issues or pitfalls that we should be aware of? What best practices can you share for managing the migration effectively?Any detailed experiences, tips, or documentation links would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your support and guidance!
Hello Community, Let’s say we created an Azure Storage Account with the default "Hot" access tier. What happens if, for this specific Storage Account, we configure it as "Cool" from the Commvault side? Does the Commvault selection ("Cool") override the Azure setting ("Hot")? Please for your feedback.Best regards,Nikos
Hi All, During backup with the file system agent, even though the jobs are in the completed status, Commvault reports many Failed Folders and Failed Files. The Optimized scan option is currently selected.Interestingly, the logs show that Commvault is trying to access locations that no longer exist physically. After changing to Journal, there were no such problems (there were no failed folders and failed files). After returning to Optimized scan, the problem appeared again. This is version 11.32 with new fixes. Looking for information about the scanning option in the documentation, I understood that Change Journal is used for the NTFS file system and most often when the Optimized scan option is unavailable, or the metadata database created by Optimized scan is corrupted. We have a customer running 11.32.89 that are protecting VMWare thin-provisioned VMs. We do primary backups with Pure snapshots. The customer informed us that they have Windows Data Deduplication (WDD) running in the VM. I am seeing older articles online around using thin provisioning and WDD that indicates larger consumption of disk because of WDD cleanup behavior. WDD doesn’t dynamically clean up; it cleans once a week. With that behavior, the thin provision VM keeps growing until the clean up happens. During the backups, we're getting horrible dedupe rates in some servers (10%). Along with that behavior, we are seeing Data Analytics (Indexing) of the VM contents taking longer than 24hrs. Finally, the CVLT provided information seems off - in that we show in the "Data on Media" view that Size on Media is at 6.3TB, but data written says 2.5TB. They're asking what's going on with that.I’m thinking the consumption is due to VM protection in that we protect what the VM size is and not what
Hi,I am wondering if anyone has installed a CommServe with Live Sync on Windows 2025 Core servers ? Theses servers will also need Command Center so all the extras for that will need to be installed on the Windows Core server. Thanks
I’m planing to upgrade our Commserve from 11.28 to 11.36. During earlier updates I started the update with Commserve and Commcell Consol. If it succeeded, Media Agents followed one by one. Maybe our 8 MA was updated in two different day. Thereafter, clients followed. But now, in the “Changes in Commvault Platform Release 2024E (11.36)” document I can find that, “You must upgrade all MediaAgents at the same time.” Why is it mandatory?Commserve 11.36 can’t manage MA ‘s on version 11.28? Two MA, one on 11.28, other on 11.36 can’t work together? Not forever, just for a few days. Thanks in advance.
According to the documentation, we should enable the secure Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) for additional network security with the external domain. Important: This can only be enabled when the external domain is configured to use the secure LDAP. If this protocol is enabled from the CommCell Console, but not configured from the external domain, the feature is not enabled. How Can I check if the external domain is configured to use the secure LDAP?
Hello, Recently, I have been encountering client certificate errors in my cases. While we can resolve them, I suspect that Commvault introduced some changes regarding client certificates starting from version 11.32. Could there be any insights or information about this issue?
Please help me with one modul that cant be completed although all video already watched. Try to email enablement-help@commvault.com but it blocked. Advanced Configuration - CommCell Console Certification - Advanced Storage Configuration Regards,Iqbal
Dear Team, I am planning to perform an email restore for one of the users from the Compliance Server. I noticed an option during the process—could you please explain what will happen if this option is enabled or disabled? Regards,Mani D
Is it really not possible to create or manage ad-hoc backup / restore schedules within Command Center?
Hi all, Looking at below Microsoft documentation it seems AGP Azure Cool tier offers the same restore performance as AGP Azure Hot tier. Is that correct? "Data in the cool and cold tiers have slightly lower availability, but offer the same high durability, retrieval latency, and throughput characteristics as the hot tier."https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/blobs/access-tiers-overview Is it possible to have auto tiering for Azure AGP from Hot to Cool?
Hi, Is it possible (or is it on the roadmap) to use github app credential during github authentication? As far i understand only personal access key is possible now? I was told by our github team that using app credentials is a good practice and allow us to use higher API limits. Thanks.
We are trying to back up a two-node MongoDB cluster. The discovery of nodes is successful and we are using the Nimble snap engine. After triggering the backup, we are able to see the snapshot being created on the storage. However, Commvault is unable to mount the snapshot to the host, due to the error mentioned. We tried mounting the snapshot manually to the host, but it failed with the same error. The iSCSI service on the nodes is active. -- “Failed to mount the Snapshot to the host - Failed to initialize CviSCSI library for iSCSI operation”
We are currently testing Postgres backup and restore in the context of the new Patroni cluster support in CV 11.36.While testing we encountered multiple issues which seem to relate to expected configuration settings on the Postgres server. For example when we tried a full cluster restore (3 node Patroni cluster) with the option to restore all nodes we get an “Error Code: [19:1109]” (we have case 250331-524 open for this already).Another issue we currently have is when trying to restore out-of-place to another cluster-client we get:Error Code: [94:92]Description: Configuration Files check failed on Node [DE9899SP9]. Please check pre-requisites for Full Cluster Restore. Error: [One or more errors occurred while processing the request. (ERROR_ERRORS_ENCOUNTERED.774), PostgreSQL configuration files are missing on node 'DE9899SP9'. Please check prerequisites in documentation for Restore to the entire cluster. (W32.774)] So regarding these errors and some other we got while testing I have the

Both Commvault AI and Commvault human support (human support seems to use copy-paste from their own AI) say that we need to re-add the Azure SSO configuration in order to renew the SAML certificate. This seems very inconvenient. This means I need to ask the customer to complete all the steps to create a new application with the correct details once more.Is there no way to renew the certificate and upload it to the existing Azure SSO config in Commvault?
Hello,We have several Pure arrays at our primary Data Center that regularly create and replicate snapshots to our Pure arrays at our DR site. I would like to use these snapshots as recovery points for Commvault so I would like Commvault to manage these snapshots. We would like to run snapshots every 4 hours or so and write 1 to disk every 24 hours. I would love to get input on how others have set this up. I’m considering doing this on the Storage Policy level but am not sure that’s the way to go.
