Hello good day,I’m planning to upgrade CommVault server from version 11.24.134 to 11.36.56. CS/MA is a physical serve. DDB and Disk Library are hosted on the same server.Upgrade procedure is fine. Not very sure how is the rollback plan. Understanding if any upgrade error occur it will not automatically rollback. DR backup configured no DR-Live sync.If CS server has a media agent role and data on it how to do this, because we could not uninstall CS before uninstalling the media server. Is it possible to repair CS software using install package as it has an option for repair but not sure it is applicable for a CS server, then restore the DB using DR backup set. Definitely we must log a support case.I need to plan how to rollback/reinstate CommServe (CS, MA, Disk-Library & DDB are on same box) in a situation of an upgrade failure. Please help.    

we had exchange archive to the primary storage policy which was hyperscale x 1.5 , and an aux copy to windows with local disk  , the jobs in the primary  copy is cleared .hyperscale x primary → first aux copynow as part of the hardware refresh we introduced new windows server and copied from second copy first aux copy → second copy but we are seeing a diffrence in the media size , 0 tb diffrence  first copy second copy 

When I run the report, no data is returned.  I am running it from the command center.  I have adjusted the participating CommCell to be the correct CommCell.  I am an admin in the environment.I have read the two related topic, but those referenced how they found it.I am trying to verify when the throughput of our backup jobs started to decline. Thanks,Tad Peterson

Got READ error on ON_DEMAND control tunnel from "client" to "mediaagent" via (x.x.x.x.x, y.y.y.y): The specified network name is no longer available.

After upgrading the commserver and webserver to FR36, we were not able to access the webconsole and commandcenter. I could see IIS serverrole is installed on commserver as well but before upgrade it was not installed. I believe IIS serverrole should be on webserver only. and also i could see under the IIS server role “ConsoleApp.NetCore” is in stopped status, even after starting manually it going to stopped state automatically.

Hi, I have deployed a Hyperscale X with 4 N24 nodes and in Command Center there is a toggel to enable File Indexing for VMware backups. If I read the documentation correct, toggle this switch will automatically deploy the Index Store package to one of the Media Agents associated with the Plan. At the same time there is a recommendation to setup a separate MA as Index Server and not to use the main Media Agents (in this case the HS-X nodes) I’m having difficulties to find the best practice and sizing guidelines for this setup. I would want to avoid installing a bunch of separate Media Agents and use the Hyperscale for this if supported. What is supported/recommended and best practice? Regards,/Patrik

Folks, Does Commvault allow you to restore DB backups from a source SAP HANA DB server (SAPdbServer1) to the filesystem path of a destination SAP HANA DB server (SAPdbServer2) which can then be restored into the destination SAP DB using SAP HANA Studio tools? I can perform this type of SAP HANA DB restore as file using Azure Backup but cannot find the same feature and procedure in Commvault. (See the Azure Backup screenshot showing this restore)Both the source and destination servers are Azure VMs running Suse Linux (SLES 15.6) and both are being backed up as Commvault Virtual Machines. The source Db server is also running the CommVault SAP DB agent but the destination server is not yet running this agent. I could also restore these DB backup files to the filesystem of a fileshare (CIFS) mounted on a third server (ClientServer3) and then mount that same fileshare to the destination server to enable restore of these DB files using SAP HANA Studio tools. I am new to this type of requirement and due to limited resources on Immutablity in Commvault for Azure I am not able to present this solution to customer(Impact,Risk & Storage Cost Increase) before actual implemention. Hi Team, I am working on a report that we need for my own team. Our goal is, we taking laptop backups and here the "Privacy" option is the most important point in data privacy. I could not see a single screen where we can see/report the Privacy option of Notebooks in Commvault CommCell Console, CommandCenter or reports. For this reason, I started working with Rest API. I see two options with the two APIs below and accordingly my questions are as follows.1. I entered the same ClientID and DeviceID, so I assume that these two are actually the same. In this case, which API would be correct for me to use?2. No matter which API I use, it wants me to enter a DeviceID or ClientID. Hi Team, Is there a procedure to upgrade from 11.32 or 11.34 to 11.36?I had some impressions and thus the need to ask the following questions arose.1- I want to upgrade from 11.32 or 11.34. It is said that a system that performs pre-upgrade check has arrived and the latest patch for Windows and SQL Server must be installed. Even though the latest patch is installed, the error persists.2- As far as I see in the document, 11.36 only uses SQL Server 2022.3- In this case, when I want to upgrade SQL Server itself directly from 2016 or 2019 to 2022, I get an error again.4- First, DR Backup will be taken, then Commvault and SQL Server will be uninstalled. After reinstalling 11.36, the DBs taken with DR Backup will be shown to the environment, is this correct?

Created Metallic Recovery Reserve. How do I connect VM to Metallic Recovery Reserve? What are the steps?

We have 6 RHEL 7 and 8 VSAs that we use to perform backups through VMware SAN. For this reason, the LUNs are presented to the VSAs, which are also VSAs. However, the problem occurs when the administrators increase the size of a LUN. Our VSAs stop working; for example, if I try to check the pvs, vgs, or lvs, the command hangs indefinitely. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Hi, is there any possibility to disable software compression an a secondary copy?In my setup I have a primary deduplicated copy with software compression enabled, for an additional secondary copy I need to disbale on that copy software compression and deduplication since the Dell Data Domain and CyberSense doesn’t want to have compression enabled.Here it is described that it should be possible to disable it, but I didn’t see that option.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.20/modifying_software_compression_on_non_deduplicated_storage_policy_copy.html Is there any possibility to disable it anyway? BR 

Does Commvault support Oracle 23?Based on the system requirements document support stops at 21c That said is there a support matrix document that maybe I cannot find? Thanks.Chris.

Hello,is it possible using permission to limit a user to be able to perform a restore from a copy specific copy only ?I don’t want the user to restore from the AWS copy for example only the primary ! Thanks  

Disaster Recovery Backup was all running well. Now there’s a job that has been running for a week, stuck at 95% and I can’t kill the job.The ‘Reason for job delay’ is:Error Code: [19:2198]Description: Copying of Disaster recovery files to staging location is in progress.Source: cvrvi01-cv, Process: JobManager There’s plenty of space on the local drive where the DR backups are saved. Permissions haven’t been changed.Any ideas on how to find out what’s blocking the job from finishing or alternatively how to kill the job so subsequent jobs can run without having to wait for this one to finish?

It will fail sometime, but will get completed using the same transport mode.Later changed it to Auto: Again its using NBD. Similarly sometimes failing sometimes completing.

Hey everyone,I have an EOL Media Agent1 set up for CM, and I want to decommission it and create a new Media Agent2. I’ve looked through the docs, and I see we can transfer everything manually or by using the Replace MediaAgent app.Since I’ve got 250 TB of data, I’m not sure which option is better. What are the pros and cons of doing it manually vs using the Media Agent app?Also, do I need to cancel all backups while I’m transferring the data?And, if I set up Media Agent2 from scratch and recreate all the jobs, can I still use Media Agent1 if something goes wrong?Any advice would be appreciated! I have kind of an odd question. We have a VMware file server that has the primary data drive (D:) set to be compressed within Windows. During busy times where our system generates thousands of statements, the files server sometimes can’t keep up and we have problems. The plan to fix this is:Run a CommVault incremental backup of the virtual file server. Stop CommVault backups of the file server Create a new, uncompressed 8TB E: drive Shut down the application so nobody makes changes to the files. Run a script to sync the old, compressed D: to the new, uncompressed E: Unmount the existing compressed D: Rename the new uncompressed E: to D: Reboot the file server and check the “new” D: Bring the system online Complete a business test of basic functionality Run a full CommVault backup and enable regularly scheduled backupsOther than ensuring that CommVault does not

Does anyone faced with license expired (1.1.1970) after commvault upgrade?After I upgraded the CS + MA I got a message about license expired on 1.1.1970 and it’s happen on the web only. In the commcell everything is fine with the license.we upgraded from 11.34.41 to 11.36.28CS + MA are running on windowsThanks  

We are Service Provider and our Dev Team is writing a new Monitoring Script for monitoring the Backup Status of all Backups for each Server for the last 24 hours.They want to use the Python SDK. The Skript is working fine, only problem is to get a list of all virtual machines, because if a Server has no CV Agent installed and has only VSA Backup it is not in the Client list.So my question is, is there an easy way to get all virtual machine names of all hypervisors listed with the Python SDK, we found no sub-modul doing that. Thanks for any help and Best RegardsMarcel
