Hi All,I cannot download the appliance VMWare Windows Image of Commvault Software with 11.36. It has Restricted Access. When I try, I get the message : Contact your software provider for access to this package.I have already used the download manager for 11.36. I don't understand why this appliance has restricted access. How can I download it knowing that I have several POCs waiting…Thank you!Regards,Luc

On Commvault version: 11.28.We have several VM’s that are being backed up by Commvault clients.  If we had 2 datacenters in an active/active configuration (where VM’s could migrate/be migrated back and forth individually between the 2 datacenters), is there a suggested configuration (or a CommVault upgrade thus giving new functionality) to allow a moved VM to utilize the Commvault media agents at whatever datacenter is local to them?  We don't currently use “plans” just old storage policies, and I don’t see a way for configuring a client in a storage policy to always choose a local media agent (in the DC its running in) to process the backup. I believe if we are backing up a VM using the Commvault VMware backup mechanism then we can just use a “local CommVault proxy” and the VM will be auto assigned to the proper local proxy when backups run, but I’m talking about a VM that we do not use VM backups for, ones that we use clients on (like when we backup up MSSQL/Oracle databases or just

Has anyone got a process in place where they’ve been able to update server information held within a ServiceNow table(DB) with information of last backup date and time. Basically looking for a way to ensure all servers they need a Commvault Backup are being backed up. This would include VM and Client Agent Backups. 

we have an old hp library , as part of the hardware refresh we introduced new library exagrid , we are using software deduplication , but the exagrid team recommending on having fresh backup , not to migrate the data from old library as it might affect the hardware deduplication. what is the diffrence between moving the mount path , and creating new stroage pool , creating aux copy and promoting it to primary once the it sync , which option is better if we have like 30tb baseline size ? when we do the aux copy , the secondary copy has any affect on the priamry libarary storage , or deduplication ? 

Hello all!In our environment, we have created a temporary copies within our few storage policies - (call them copy 6 and 7). Those were tape copies. We have keep some backup there for 2 months, but it is no longed needed. We do not need those copies within those storage policies any more. But for now, even if they are no longer any backup retained on this 6-7 copy, we do have a lot of “Big Data Apps” jobs retained on those copies.We would like to delete those copies because it interferes with our “workflow” which picks jobs for copies and it's keeping to mark them to copy for 6-7 copy. (even if copy is disabled) So my question is - what exactly this Big Data Apps is? It is some kind of Index, am I correct? If those “Big Data Apps” are stored on copies 6-7 are there any dependencies for other copies, other jobs keep in other/same storage policies?Can we just delete copy 6-7 from our storage policies even if they are still those Big Data Apps stored on it, and it won't affect the rest of

How do I make a MSSQL System Database Backup?

Planning to move a few clients from one CommCell to another without using CommCell migration method.I don't need the backup history of the clients.  But I need to make sure the subclient configuration, instances defined etc are kept intactThe idea is once they are on the other CommCell we will just need to repoint the clients to specific Storage policies on the new Commcells.Also if its possible to avoid reinstalling the agents on the servers.Is there any scripts/workflow available to do this tasks?

Hi guys, i have a question about the increments and synth full backups. What is a best practice for backup of VMware infrastructure ? For example increment in these days: monday tuesday wednesday thursday  saturday sundayand run a synthetic full backup at friday - with “run incremental backup before synthetic full” ? is these settings enought ?  

Dears,I have a question,In an organization, we plan to replace an MSL6480 (LTO8 tapes) with a new MSL6480 (LTO9 tapes) and decommission the old one once the new one is configured but the need the data on the old tapes.My question is what I need to do to make the new library read data from LTO8 and LTO9 Tapes successfully? Thanks for your support.

When I plug the 2nd ethernet card to take backup with commvault to sql  always on which is running actively (isolated backup network) always on cluster fails What should I do to prevent this .I disable the backup network from the Failover cluster manager but I got no result

I am looking for an offsite copy solution. My environment consists of 2 media servers and 1 CommServe in a virtual environment, with Exagrid as backend storage. Is it possible to zone the tape library with the Virtual Media Agent servers? If so, could you please share the process?

Hi,I have configured VMware backup jobs weekly 6 days incremental and one day Synthetic full backup job.But i can see only incremental jobs without synthetic full.  Commvault running version - 11.32. Please advise how to perform synthetic full in job level.

Hellowe just upgraded from 11.28.x to 11.32.73 a few days ago and now we have been getting these DATA CUBE EVENTS.  Im not sure why or how these started or what they are.   I still consider myself a novice commvault user. for our upgrade We had to basically uninstall commvault and then uninstall MS SQL as we couldn't go straight to 11.32 as our MS SQL server was still on 2014 with 11.28.xSo once we uninstalled both commvault and MS SQL we used the 11.32.x Full version to install commvault/ MSSQL back onto our server with the same commvault packages as prior then we did a recovery on the DBs.  Of course I had issues with the Recovery portion and had to tie in support.   But now Im noticing the following:  EVENT CODE 72:176[Data Cube service] with URL [http://xxxxxxxxxx.xxx.com:20000/solr/api/ping] is not responsive. Reason [Data Cube service is down or unreachable]. Please make sure [Data Cube service] is running and reachable.Im not familiar with it - DATA CUBE.  Is there a turn off sw

Does the information below in the report (see red square) mean that the backup size from that particular media agent is over 18TB?

Hi,Some time ago Dell introduced support for Transparent Snapshots in their offerings which according to their materials should boost VMware VMs protection and restore. As far as I know Dell is the only vendor using this, so I am not sure whether this is a VMware technology or is it a third-party in this case.Anyhow, I wanted to ask if there is a similar solution on the road ahead that is/will be available in Commvault?

Hello Community, I’m currently migrating a old Commserve to a new hardware, which has different host name and IP settings, also with CommServe upgrading (11.28 → 11.34). So I have folllowed this page for the hardware refreshing: https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/commserve_upgrade_with_hardware_refresh_overview.htmlI used Recovery Assistant Tool when setting up the CommServe database on new hardware. Now it works fine. The problem is when copying backup files (CV_MAGNETIC) from old machine to new one, the size of file has expanded a lot (5TB → 10TB) on disk. I assume this is bacuase of using DDB.  I have also copied the DDB content (CV_SIDB folder and icl_label.txt file) to the new machine, but with different drive letter(D:\SIDB → E:\SIDB). My questions are:What is the best way to set up the DDB in new machine? Can I reclaim the disk space after the DDB is running fine?Thanks!

Hello Community, I have some flow to automate. In my company we have second copy of data working as our DR solution. I would like to have possibility of change backup copy association from Storage Policy by API or QCommand to automate entire process. Commvault docs say “If the mount path move job fails or is killed, you need to manually clean the data that was copied to the destination mount path.”Would not “Clean orphan data” do the cleaning?
