Hi,We have configured a new Oracle RAC version 19c with two nodes. The Oracle Agent has been successfully installed, and the nodes were added to the CommCell console. Following this, the Oracle RAC was automatically created on the CommCell.However, when I attempted to configure the instance, the process was unsuccessful, and I encountered the following error:  Could you please assist me in resolving this issue? 

Hi all,I am trying to set Entra ID backups on our CommCell. I am following the documentation under Getting Started with the Azure Active Directory Application, including Complete the Guided Setup for Active Directory which is one of the steps.When I go to Guided Setup on the Commserve, all of the applications within “Protect” are greyed out, so I am not able to find the AAD or AD Application, or access any of them (see screenshot) including other tabs in that page. Even when logged in as local administrator, which is associated with the master role.When the vendor helped us implement Commvault, I notice they didn’t use backup plans to schedule and run backups. And if you see in the screenshot, the “Create server backup plan” checkbox is not checked out, which makes the core setup unfinished. I wonder whether the system needs a backup plan created, even though it will not be used to be able to work with additional applications? Thanks in advance.Kind regards.

Hi Community,I want to know where deduplication happens in a Global deduplication storage policy?Client side or Media agent side or both?if both, then if the encryption is enabled how it dedupes? i know that the encryption happens in a way Compress > Dedupe > Encrypt .If the encryption enable in agent side, the agent do Compress > Dedupe > Encrypt and send data to media agent. does the media agent decrypts data to dedup again or send the data as it is to Disk lib?

Hi All,Is there any way I can restore full virtual machine to a virtual access node if it is only access node in particular VMware environment. Because all Commvault services on this access node don’t start up after upgrading its software version to 11.32.69.  Thank you.

Hi all, I’m looking for a little bit of assistance. I’m trying to build a custom report for our monitoring needs, the issue is I’m not sure how to filter out data received by an API Call. For example: I add a dataset > HTTP > Rest API: /JobThe above returns me all the jobs, how do I filter jobs that ran on a particular date? Is there any tool I can use in the dashboard creator itself? Thanks a lot for any suggestions.

Hello,Our Comcell is running at 11.34 and we are palnning to upgrade it to the latest LTS platform release  ( 2024E - 11.36 ).For some reason, 11.36 does not show on the downlownd software drop-down list. Only 11.34 & 11.28. Any idea what could be the reason for that ? Thanks

Hello,I am currently running BMR 1-Touch recovery tests, but I have a problem when rebooting the client. It remains stuck on the button with a circle that spins to infinity.I use Commvault version 11.32.65 and ISO 1Touch_REL11_32_63_WinPE10_x64.The client is a Lenovo P5 with a Windows 10. It has a two partitions and disk has no RAID.I did 1-Touch recovery tests with a Windows Server 2019 on the machine and didn’t encounter any problems.Backups and restores do not report errors on the Commserve and go all the way.It looks like it is Windows 10 that is problematic while System Requirements, it is indicated that this OS is supported.

Hi TEam, Commvault VSS services on VSA is getting stopped intermittently.We have KPI when this service goes down, the alert is getting triggered. This is causing noise.As a workaround we have to start the services CV VSS manually. Is it expected that VSS will auto stop/start when Backups run ? Is it possible to keep it online always ?Can we enable automatic start of this services after reboot ? Please advise.

Hi Vaulters,I have a question regarding a new full linux 11.36 config done entirely using the Command Center.I recently installed a Grid of 2 Linux Media Agents with each its DA SAN FC storage. I created a disk library with 2 mount paths and 2 dedup partitions.On the properties of each mount point I can see the path of the mount point of the Media Agent that hosts the block storage but I also can see a path  “via network” from the other Media Agent. Anybody know the nature of this “network” share? Is that a dataserver-ip share? Anybody knows a way to use a good old NFS share between the 2 MA in a grid without the Java console?

I make a backupof MS SQL system databases (master, msdb). The backup job is made without errors. Then I try to restore system databases from the backup and when opening Browse and Restore - View Content I get the message There's no data to restore. How to properly backup system databases and what I'm doing wrong 

Hello!We have a site that is being decomissioned and I need to work a bit on it’s backups.The site is using a derivated stg plan.Usually when I do this I remove the schedule from the client in the java conole but since this is part of a plan I am not able to do that. So instead I went into Command Center and dissacotiated the client from the plan. It works, no more schedule, however when I look at the client and the default subclient, the destination storage policy is gone (from java console).Doing a browse for backup history I see the history. To me it seems odd and a bit missleading. My next step is to promote the secondary copy to primary and delete the former primary copy and library. Only way I can see this done is from the Java console, or is there a way to do it in Command center? 

If I need a policy like this:Full Backup - once a month (first Sunday at 02.00) retention 30 daysDiff - every day (at 02.00 except first Sunday) retention 5 daysNow I set 30 days as storage policy default for Full backups, and in schedule policies for Diff backups in Media - Job Retention I set 5 days. But I still see the content of diff backups older than 5 days. How and where can I set the above policy correctly?Another question is how to set the deletion policy by the number of backup points. That is, I need one backup. When creating a new one, delete the old one without reference to days.

I found error Nonzero code [9] returned from user command. I’m not entirely sure what the error is, so I tried editing the startPrePostCmd file as indicated by the error message. Could anyone advise me on how to fix this? I’m not certain if I really need to modify the script. 

What is the risk of changing the password of the generic Commvault admin account.  We are doing this as a security contingency in our environment. Is there a risk of issues arising doing this?   Let me know of any recommendations/suggestions

After upgrading from 11.28.66 to 11.32.6, the command center dashboard backup summary report is showing no data available and also has an error “bad request, please check the parameters”

We need a method to specify source nodes for replication groups.  We keep having issues where the source node changes to a VM that does not have access to the datastore/cluster that the replicated VM lives on.  We’ve been asking for this functionality for a few years now and we’re at a point where we need a workaround or find go find a different solution. Does anyone else have this issue and can help put pressure on this request?  Anyone have a workaround?

Hi folks,Getting this errorHere’s the background, simplifiedOut of space in Metallic, storage policy is set to 365days/1 cycle. We moved to Metallic sometime last spring I think? Either way, chewed up 50TB in about 6 months.I think I have it down now where I have two storage policies, backing up the same stuff on the same retention period. However, if I try and reduce the retention rate of one of the policies (from 365/1 to say, 180 days / 1 cycle), I the error above.How do i get past that? I’ve submitted this to support and they have said nothing about any form to be filled out.

I am calling ‘/Job’ API with different offset and a 5000 limit to get all the backup jobs from commserve. However, I don’t need all the fields and only job status, id, time and a few others. Is there any way I can limit the fields returned in the API?

Hello folks,This message appears when we enter the commserver. We would like to know why it has been activated. Has it been activated automatically? What are the consequences? Can it be deactivated?I have read the documentation but it is not very clear to us.Does anyone know any more information about this?Regards.

We are a long term Commvault on-premise shop.  We are starting to move some thing to Azure.  So far we are backing those things up to our on-prem CV environment.   For efficiency and time, I am looking to setup a few media agents and library in Azure to run and store the backups.  I have reviewed the “Public Cloud guide for Microsoft Azure document, and based on it, I am planning to setup 2 media agents with a partitioned duplication database across them.  For the Library it looks like Azure blob object storage is the way to go.  I should be able to have both media agents access it.   Is this similar to what folks are doing?  For our on-prem we were using local storage on the media agents, and the paths were shared with each other.   This design will be a little easier to manage, but I am a little worried about the performance of blob storage vs storage local to the MA’s  I look forward to hearing from other folks with there Commvault setup and the cloud migration.Thank you,

Dear Experts,our objective is to restore a table from Source_PDB to Destination_PDB via Import functionality provided by CommVault. Setup: CommServe Version 11.32.49; Source_ and Destiantion_CDB are both Oracle 19.22.  The Destination_CDB was set up according to CommVault documentation. The Destination_CDB and Source_CDB are both included to be in tnsnames.ora on either sides. Remote crosswise sqlplus-connect is working from both sides.  In Commvault-GUI we did: Commcell → Client_Computers → select Source_Client →  right-click Oracle Source-CDB → select All Tasks → select Browse And Restore → select Table View + set Time Range + End Time (select Date and PointInTime)→  View Content → Select table and its dependent tables from the respective schema in the Source_PDB → Recover All Selected …In the window “Table Restore Options for Clients Source_CDB_Client SID: Source_CDB”  in the Tab “General” : Set Destination Client  Destination_Client_Name;Set Use Oracle Settings from Auxiliary CDB;C

I would like to create a secondary copy of tape backups to aux copy existing tape Archive backups to a newly configured AWS cloud library. This is using a Windows 2022 VM as a new mediaagent.We have an AuxCopy schedule which copies Primary data from all these tape SP copies in one data centre to a matching copy in a second data center.  a)12Month-LTO5, b)5 Years- LTO5, c)7 years-LTO5 ,d)10 Years-LT05  there is no new data, but we need to retain it & I would like to decommission the tape library as soon as possible   1) If I add a new DDB disk to the mediaagent & enable De Duplication as per this doco - Creating a Selective Copy Using a Library Does it work to reduce the data size going to the cloud library ?Because if I use the recommended method in Creating a Storage Policy Copy with Deduplication , it says “Secondary copies are automatically associated with the System Created Autocopy schedule policy.“I take that to mean I would need to immediately edit the association to onl
