Hello, we’re currently due for a hardware refresh for our CommCell and media agents. Currently, we have an ‘all-in-one’ setup with CommCell and media agent both installed baremetal on a dell server. I understand that it is likely better to have the CommCell hosted on a separate server? If that is the case, which server hosts the index cache and DDB? This will be on a Windows install… would it be an issue running the media agent on a hyperv host with the commcell as a guest vm? Thanks

I try to do SQL DB point-in-time restore, may I restore SQL DB as new database name? looks like I  have to do SQL DB point-in-time restore to original location.

Can any one from legacy can describe about CommVault history. What could be the major version boom the market to place in top Data Protection Tool.  Version <8 → Galaxy Version 8 & 9 →  Simpana Version 10 & 11 →  CommVaultCan give more details about Commvault historical information when these changes happened. (If any above wrong correct it please).

We just installed a brand new CommServe for testing and noticed it came along with SQL 2019. Now the documentation states the following:Note: Beginning in Feature Release 11.25, during the installation of the CommServe software or other server packages, Commvault installs Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Standard Edition by default.  See: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/142606_upgrading_microsoft_sql_server_2016_standard_edition_to_microsoft_sql_server_2019_standard_edition.htmlNow as SQL 2019 is already installed by default as part of FR25 it to me raised the question if the note in the documentation actually indicates that it requires SQL 2019 to be installed. SQL 2012 R2 extended support is ending next year, so to me it would make sense to start informing customers that they should make plans to upgrade. Most likely you are also still running on Windows 2012 R2 so it would require a full refresh of both OS and SQL.Anyway I'm curious to hear if FR25 will require SQL 2019 to

We have several clients that are VM’s but also have the FSA agent installed on them, we released the FSA agent and are backing them up as VM. Question: Is there a way to change the Days since last successful backup for client to include clients backing up as VM’s.

Hello, I'm currently testing the Hyperscale X 2.1 Reference Architecture deployment and i would like to know if it's possible to configure at 1GB, my network interfaces on Data Protection Network, because when I configure, he tells me " Encouterd error Interface should have at least 10GB" , but when I tested Hyperscale 1.5 Reference Architecture deployment, I was able to configure my interfaces to 1GB for the Data Protection Network without any problem.  So, I would like to confirm if it's possible to use my 1GB interfaces instead of 10GB with Hyperscale X 2.1 for the DPN. Please note that the other interfaces for the SPN and Replication will be on a 10GB link.

I am adding a new Media Agent to an existing Storage Resource that has 1 Disk Library in place. Q: How should I structure it?Add Mount paths to existing disk library   Or Add a New Disk Library associated with new Media Agent (srap-ma02)?

Hello, I have some question about application class 1 lincense.  I have installed around 400+ sql  in commvault and if i look to my License summary then i see like 6 sql clients onder te tab Application Class 1. And that not what i want because its using client license.On the sql client i have instal only sql software and after full back i have released license for file system. I do find Mirosoft Sql server on Components in the Application Class Licenses for Application class1. But why another 395 installed sql clients are not listening in license summory onder Application class 1 ? 

Hi All, I am trying to migrate the old CommCell environment (11 sp15) to the new CommCell enviroment (11 sp20). I would like to move agents and data without the policies ( I would like to create the new backup polices). I am wondering if that is possilble, what route should I go and what support documents should I follow if any? Thanks!

If an auxiliary copy of the primary data is running, the DR Backup auxiliary copy job is waiting. What needs to be done to run in parallel?

I know I should remember how to do this but I’ve failed to find the BoL doc which speaks to this objective. For a long time we’ve only done selective fulls to tape. Can someone remind me or point me to the directions for moving away from the selective fulls to “if the associated clients did an incremental last night, copy the incremental changes to tape, and if the client had a synth full run, copy that to tape as a full” -- in our case weekly synth fulls, no SILO of course. Does this require 2 separate aux copies in the SP? I don’t necessarily care about keeping the weekly full jobs on separate media, I’d actually just like to keep filling them day by day and have them age off accordingly.thanks

Hello Team,I am trying to Set Up Alert Notifications to Save to a Local Drive in text document.Link to the documentation:https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=5405.htmI have set everything as it is described in the documentation but seems to not working at all.After the setup we have some failed backups, but nothing in the directory where i set to go the files.The configuration is at follows: All Clients, All Agents, Notification criteria is only Failed and skipped jobs. I have set the local directory where to be saven the file, interpersonate the user, token  Alert: <JOB ID> Status <STATUS>. Everything seems to be set as expected but still not received any file in the directory.If someone have some similar configuration could you please share with me ? Thank you in advance! 

We are in the process of the Mediaagent hardware refresh so while procuring the hardware specifications, I am wondering is it ok to create 2 separate ddbs (one for disk library and one for cloud library) on a single hard drive?Please advice. Thank you so much.

What’s the best way for me to troubleshoot a slow backup?

I have just added a Linux client to my CommCell, and there are folder paths that go way beyond 1024 characters. How can I back those up? 

I have been running backups for a week or so now, and just started reviewing the Job Histories. Looking at one of my clients, I can see that the Incremental is the same size as the Full was when it ran, which doesn’t make any sense?

I have a stand-alone tape library and need to ensure that I utilize barcodes from the get go. How do I add them for each tape?

I ran a restore on one of my Windows clients to confirm that my backups are working (they are!). However, it wanted me to do a reboot afterwards. Since this was a test, that’s not a big deal, but I want to know why it happened in case it is an issue with a live restore.

I noticed that CV does not seem to acknowledge the mail slot at all. Is this because I have a blind library?
