Hello,On our VMware infrastructure, a Windows 2012 file server contains five datastores (LUNs) and we want to distribute these LUNs to new file servers. From the vCenter, we planned to detach the LUNs and reattach them to the new server. However, on each of these LUNs, several TB of files were archived and stubs replaced the files. What should we do to ensure that nothing is lost during these manipulations?Thank you for your help.
We currently have the problem that the backup is no longer running on 2 VMs. Hard drives need to be consolidated. If this is done, 1 - 3 backups will run through and then it will run into the same error again.Error Code: [91:399] Description: The virtual machine [cs-at00-201] reports that it has virtual disks that need consolidation and this could not be performed automatically. In order to prevent a further buildup of delta disks and possible stability issues with the virtual machine, further backups of this virtual machine will not be performed until this condition is corrected. Check if there are any locks on the virtual disks or if the disks are still attached to a backup proxy. [] This all happened after the update to 11.28.86. Before the update, the jobs ran without errors. The consolidation only affects the VSA Agent and one other VM Automount on the VSA Proxy is enabled.

Good day!We have a requirement to route VMware backup over the dedicated VMkernel network on ESXI hosts. Unfortunately, the CommVault solution does not have a proper method to route VMware backup traffic over 902 (NFC) to HyperscaleX. If I’m correct the “Dedicated Interface Paring (DIP)” will not work for the VMware backup type. Please let me know if there are some improvements made in the latest Version to manage VMware backup traffic using DIP.Below are the environment details, IP, and names being just dummy, curious to know if it will work if I use a host file entry to route traffic over a dedicated VMkernel network. Commserve: IP and NameMGMT -→ 192.168.10.10 cs01.test.comBackup -→ 10.0.8.10HyperScaleX: Network label, IP and Name. Three node HSX cluster. Bond1 has sub interfaces. Hello,Currently, we are using version 11.20 of Commvault on a Commserve Windows 2012 and SQL version 2012 server. The Commserve is a VM. We want to upgrade the Commvault version to 11.28 and we need to upgrade the OS version and SQLServer to Windows 2022.What is the correct method to follow to upgrade Commvault?Can we upgrade the OS and SQL version into 2022 and then install version 11.28 of Commvault : in this case, we need go through intermediate versions? Could this cause database corruption? Or is it better to rebuild the VMs?Thank in advance for your response.
Hello,have anyone experience with backing up VMs when VMware Native Key Provider is beeing used?One of our customers is thinking about encrypting the VMs for security reasons. From what I saw in the documentation the VMware Native Key Provider is only working for VMWare infrastructure products.I am not quit sure how this will impact the backup regarding to, ddb increase, if the data will be browsable with/without an agent installed.Any thoughts about this topic?
Hi All, As far as I know, Intellisnap backup is the one of the great option in physical environments. It brings, lot of benefits and improve backup performance.As per my understanding, during the VM Backup, the software snapshot taken by hypervisor, whereas in Intellisnap, hardware snapshot taken by storage and mounted in the VSA. But, I couldn’t figure out, how the IntelliSnap backup works in Cloud (Azure) and how its beneficial over Azure VSA backup in terms of backup performance.Because, both scenario, its a software snapshot and it suppose to be mounted in the VSA to perform backup copy nothing but streaming backup. Can anyone provide more information and also share if you know any whitepaper. Thanks,Manikandan
I have comcell server which takes backup of all my Physical and Virtual Machines. I have few servers which are on DMZ network and cannot connect to comcell server. I have setup a Virtual Machine. Which has access to both DMZ network and Comcell. Can I use this server to take backup of the DMZ network servers. if so what all are the requisites?
Hello Everyone, I have been researching the differences between using Commvault backup and Azure backup for backing up Azure Virtual Solution (AVS) VM instances, especially when dealing with a potentially large number of VMs (up to 1000). Here are a few points I have found so far:Commvault backup allows for selective file and folder recovery from Linux VMs, while Azure Backup (MABS) may not provide this capability. Azure Backup (MABS) might have blind spots when it comes to VMware vApps, whereas Commvault backup offers better support in these cases. App-consistent backups with native Azure Linux instances may require manual scripting with Azure Backup (MABS), but it's unclear if this applies to Azure VMware Solution (AVS) backups.However, I would greatly appreciate your input and validation of these points, as well as any additional insights or considerations regarding the advantages of choosing Commvault backup over Azure Backup for backing up Azure VM instances. Hi all newbie here. just a quick question please, While trying to restore a Azure vm in Metallic to Azure out of place, I get an error failed to create the container for Virtual disks under the storage account. Should i speak with our Cloud people about this first before troubling Commvault. as i may not be choosing the correct storage account. Regards Tony

Hi all!I’ve been trying to solve some issue, but I’m out of ideas already. I’m preparing new Commvault solution for OLVM (Oracle Linux Virtualization, based on oVirt). One of the VMs (let’s name it VM_RDM) has physical RDM disks attached, which are being backed up externally, outside of CV. I need to exclude them from CV backup, but sadly I didn’t find any solution for OLVM.My VM_RDM is backing up properly, but I’m getting status “Backed up with 1/more errors” with description “physical RDM disks are not supported”. I know it doesn’t impact my backups, but is there any way to get rid of this communicate? I can’t use filesystem backup due to requirements. I tried disk filters in “content” page, setting up different plans, subclients etc, but it just doesn’t work. I tried additional setting “IgnoreUnsupportedDisks” (https://documentation.commvault.com/additionalsetting/details?name=%22IgnoreUnsupportedDisks%22&id=1318), but it didn’t change anything as well. we reimaged hyperscale(reference architecure) using iso,unable to get login prompt even after <Alt> + <Ctrl> + <F2> at console level We have 3 nodes,we are able to get login screen on 2 nodes using <Alt> + <Ctrl> + <F2> but on 3rd node,we dont see a login screen we used ctrl+alt+delete on hot keys as well,it doesnot direct to login screen Any suggestions
Hello,We have an hyperscale environment with 3 nodes that works with SFP 10G - we upgraded our network infrastructure Can we just bring the Hyperscale node offline (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/stopping_and_starting_hyperscale_x_reference_architecture_node.html) replace all SFPs (from the 10G to the 25G SFPs)and it would work? or there is some scripts that need to be run after we replace the SFPs?Best regards,
