Hi All. I just checked the traffic to and from our CommServe in our firewall. I do see thousands of denies every hour from the CommServe to IP’s belonging to amazon (3.174.18.10, 3.174.18.80, 3.174.18.70…..) We do not use any Amazon services in anyway, so any one have an idea why the CommServe tries to connect to Amazon and how to disable what its doing? Thanks-Anders
I’m working with a customer to test Proxmox backups and am a bit confused. When I go to the Proxmox config page I don’t have an access node which is expected since we haven’t set it up yet. When I click on the link to download it, I get an VSA_x64.exe, which is a Windows executable. From documentation I understand we have to install it on at least one of the cluster nodes which are a flavor of linux. Is the idea to download the CV linux binaries using the VSA_x64 executable? If so, what would be the proper package(s)? Also, it is a little confusing with the documentation as I’m reading it; do we need VSA installed on all the nodes in the cluster or just a single node to act as the access node? Thanks in advance!

Hi,additionally to my previous post regarding support for Rocky Linux 9.6 I now ask for support for Rocky Linux 9.7 or Rocky Linux 9 in general. I think this would be a curial step for Commvault to go from Windows to Linux and also allow customers to chose their distro. Why:On December 1st Rocky Linux 9.7 has been released. The Release policy for Rocky Linux: Rocky Linux does not support point releases once a newer one is available. Once a new minor point release is available, the older one is immediately considered end of life and users must upgrade to continue receiving security updates. For example, once 8.5 gets a general release, 8.4 is immediately end of life. SourceAre there any plans for changing the documentation to support Rocky Linux 9 in the latest point release?
Hi everyone,I am currently performing a hardware refresh/migration from a legacy Media Agent to a new Commvault HyperScale Edge (Single Node).Current Setup: CommServe is on a separate dedicated server. Legacy MA: Windows Server with local disk libraries (NTFS). New Setup: HyperScale Edge (Single Node). Already joined to the CommCell, and the HyperScale Storage Pool is created. Proposed Migration Plan: Since I cannot simply move the DDB/Disk (due to the architecture change to HS Storage Pool), I plan to do a Side-by-Side migration: Create a Secondary Copy on the existing Storage Policies. Set the Target Library as the new HyperScale Storage Pool. Run Auxiliary Copy to sync all data. Once synced, Promote the Secondary Copy to Primary. Decommission the old MA. My Questions: Is this the recommended workflow for migrating to HyperScale? When creating the Secondary Copy, should I expect any specific behavior regarding the DDB association, since the target is a Storage Pool? A
HelloIs the default policy enabled when creating the Exchange plan sufficient for clearing out older messages or mailboxes? Our default retention period is set to one year. However, when I check the Office 365 storage policy and the retention reason, I see "Data Aging Disabled" listed.
I have removed a client that we didn’t need anymore, but I forgot to first remove it from commvault. Now when the client is gone, I can’t remove it in commvault from the client computers?
Question on GUI audit trail. It was my understanding that the audit trail captures all CommCell console gui operations that are being doneon the Commvault environment and many more. The Commvault documentation appear to show this is not the case. Loading Commvault licence for example is not reflected in the GUI Audit trail. So if GUI audit trail does not capture these significant changes or config change in the environment, then what Commvault report does it. I raise this question as it is very important that we have some tracking as to what changes are being done in the environment and if the GUI audit trail does not track everything and no other Commvault feature does then it makes it hard to monitor any changes (unapproved changes ) done in the environment.Thoughts, suggestions and reactions are most welcome
Hi all,Could you please advise me on how to back up Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange Online or SharePoint Online) specifically to an on-premise location?I would like to verify if my understanding of the architecture is correct: Access Node: Is it correct that I need to install an Access Node (proxy) within the customer's on-premise infrastructure? I assume this node handles the communication with the Microsoft Cloud and downloads the data.Storage Target: Is the local disk library selected as the destination storage when I Create a Microsoft 365 Plan? I am currently looking at this documentation link: https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/software/getting_started_with_exchange_online.html#procedureProcedure: Verify that your environment meets the system requirements for Exchange Online. Add access nodes. Complete the Microsoft 365 service catalog. Create a Microsoft 365 plan. Add the mailboxes that you want to back up. Perform a test backup and restore. Is this the correct p
I need to know whether we can connect an S3-compatible repository provided by the customer (“cloud storage”) to Commvault in order to store additional backups as an “off-site” copy. Technically, we know that the connection is possible in principle, but the issue of encryption arose during the project. Could Commvault encrypt this backup with a separate key that is only available to the customer? It is crucial for the customer that the data is protected by its own key and can only be managed by the customer, rather than being encrypted with the general Commvault key. Otherwise, in the worst case scenario, the customer would no longer be able to access the data and would not be able to decrypt it due to the lack of a key. The question is whether it is even possible to restore data on S3 storage that has been backed up with Commvault without running Commserve.
Hi Team,From last couple of days HANA Backup is getting failed. In the Client system showing two instances (instance001 & instance002). Instance001 services is stopped & we are not seeing commserve entry. Instance002 services is up & running, all the relevant data is visible.CVD port in Instance001 is showing 8400 & 8401 is showing in instance002.While trigging backup job in the logs we are seeing CVD port 8400 & job is getting failed. One more point post agent upgrade we are facing this issue. we upgraded agent from 11.28 to 11.36.
Hello, What is the preferred method for performing automatic SQL restores? PowerShell (The latest PowerShell release is 0.3.4 on 2024-12-6) 2) CLI with an XLM file 3) Rest API
Hi,i have 1 MediaAgent with B2D storage. Is it necessary to backup this machine?RegardsDennis
Hi Team,We are in phase of POC at a customer and need End-User accessibility interface screenshots that validates the archiving and cleanup process. Means how client site tools look like at outlook client, OWA and mobile devices. Much appreciated if we get the screenshots.
Hi together,we are currently running the Commserve on 11.36.65 and are using several clients with Centos 6.5 and 6.7. These clients had been upgraded from previous versions and are running with 11.28 and 11.36.Now we want to install a new Centos 6.6 (Intel, not Power). We are trying to use 11.20.40 and 11.28 and 11.32 but everytime we get the error: SIM install requirement failed. Please check the log files. The logfile contains exactly this message. Do you have an idea? Best regards.Michael
Hi all.I hope to get some inspiration or thoughts about a new setup that I’m tumbling with. . I have a 11.40 Commcell and in this Commcell I want to use 2 MediaAgents. The 2 MediaAgents should be setup so that they can act as “failovers” for each other. So if MA01 is offline, MA02 can continue to run backups of clients for both MA01 and MA02 and also continue to do restores of data that MA01 backed-up.2 MediaAgents with separate SSD’s for OS, index and ddb. The MediaAgents is installed with Rocky Linux 9.6 I want to setup the MediaAgents with a partitioned DDB For the disklib I’m going to use a IBM storage SAN system that will be connected directly to the MediaAgents via FC. As a start I’m going to create 12 Lun’s/disks, which are going to be zoned to both servers The Lun’s will be mounted on both servers On MA01 mp1-6 will be mounted with ReadWrite access and mp7-12 will be mounted with ReadOnly access. On MA02 mp1-6 will be mounted with ReadOnly access and mp 7-12 will be mounted wi

So, I’ve inheirited this installation a few years ago. One thing I never had to contend with, until now, is SAP. We’re moving to the cloud and I simply need to disable a few databases from backing up.Now, SAP was done through the Command Center - I’ve been using the browser for everything to this point. However, as I understand it (and this seems logical ...) - if we change things in the browser (which is “under the hood”), what’s done through command center may override those changes. Thus, if it’s done throught the command center (aka, plans), it should be managed (as best as possible) through the command center. This is akin to using stick-shift to automatic, it seems. Is this correct thinking? Start with command center plans - work with it in plans/subclients and finish it with plans/subclients. Second - Ok - how does one disable a database backup in CV 11.32? I have found “delete” on a database, but that smacks of delete the database - which is not what I wish to do. In br
I noticed that the latest price list no longer includes Threat Scan for VMs and Risk Analysis for VMs in the SKU list. This effectively means both services can now only be purchased or consumed based on the amount of processed FET.We recently added Threat Scan to our internal catalogue as part of our upgrade to FR40, and this sudden change is quite disruptive. Unexpected adjustments like this significantly impact MSPs and resellers, making it harder to position these services to customers because the cost becomes highly unpredictable.I’m curious to understand the reasoning behind this change, as in my opinion, it does not seem to support upsell, sales growth, or revenue generation.
Hello,I’ve associated a SVM to a Netapp client - under the properties of the Netapp client on the “storage virtual machine” tab the SVM is associatedA deconfigured client was not automatically createdManually trying to configured it did not worked as well does anyone have an idea?
Hi as i try to find document only find it on mssql on-premise.Can be commvault backup azure sql with tde feature ?Thank you to much.https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/back_up_sql_server_data.html
Hello!I hope you all doing well!I am playing with backup configuration for MAXDB, we would like to control it via worklof.Unfortunately while triggering backup via workflow we are getting two errors…One error for workflow called “SAP MaxDB” is: While trying to run workflow “SAP MaxDB XUSER” i do have this error: When we do trigger a backup from server by the same command as is int the script/log: Then backup is working - but only triggered from server…Now we do have backup scheduled from crone, but we would like to trigger it from CV.
Hi All, I am having some challenges protecting a multi-instance DB2 configuration. The below error is thrown: Db2 vendor library reported an error:[ ---- error report ---- app. message = backing up the database line = 6198 file = ClDb2AgentLib.cpp SQLCODE = -2079 SQL2079N An error was reported by the shared library "/opt/Commvault/commvault2/Base64/libDb2Sbt.so". Return code: "-1". --- end error report --- ]. [Backup] operation could not be completed.Source: p3hdb_2, Process: ClDb2Agent The backup of the first instance completes successfully. Can a single Commvault instance protect multiple DB2 instances? I ask because how is this achieved if a different user and group own the each DB2 instances? As I understand it the Commvault binaries and log location should also be owned by this same user/group? In light of the above:1. Are multiple Commvault instances required to protect multiple DB2 instances?2. Can different users/groups own the different DB2 instances?3. If so, should the Db2_c
Hi all,We encrypted our databases with TDE in a pilot project and figured that Commvault SQL module makes the backup 8 times larger compared database dump on the disk (SQL 2016, compression enabled). What is recommended Commvault configuration so that we retain the size SQL Server can achieve? We moved from filesystem backup to native backup few years ago and currently it looks like we need to move back! Has anyone implemented this with good results, please? Thank you.
Hi,Is there a report or setting that will alert me when the Metallic side of my DR backups fails ? Thanks
