Hello All,I have Red hAt Openshift KUbernetes backup. I am backing up application via label selector as the following. We noticed that There is not some application in the backup. For example ; middleware-architecture-dev. I have tried to backup this project middleware-architecture-dev with seperate subcleint. Backup completed succesfully. BU twe saw that some object are missing. This applications are Openshift Servicemesh (istio) CRD. Does COmmvault support istio objects?  

I want to upgrade from 11.28.56 to 11.32.[latest] and want to know if I can "just do it via the Java console" (just download the software update into the cache via the Java console then push/upgrade commserve/livesync commserve via the java console) It appears you can at first glance.. but after going through the docs there appears to be some indications I cannot/should not.Just wondering if anyone has done this or knows if I cannot do it via java console only. The docs are a little all over the place (the links below) and make me think I have to uninstall my commserve and MSSQL then reinstall both (from the media kit) and restore from a DR backup, then do the same to my livesync server…. all because my MSSQL DB versions are a bit out of date and out of sync.Background:I have all physical CommVault servers, so no VM snapshots possible I don't mind taking a commvault outage to do updates. Hi i want to doing  vm validations  with network.By design, vm validate  works without a valid network.But i need the execute post script after vm deployed to esx .Is there any way to validate vm with network ?   

On a linux RH 9.4 we are trying to configure a sybase DB. We keep getting this error and cannot find where is the error. Connectivity workd ok, FS backups of the server are working. Version of commvault is 11.36.41. Hi All, looking to get some feedback on the following scenario.Currently have 4 media agents with 2.5TB local SSD dedicated for DDB. A while back we decided to move to the cloud and thus created a new storage pool (deduplication enable) so we would only move changed blocks from primary to the cloud. The new DDB location for the cloud pool is on the same disk as the existing DDB for on-prem data. At the time, the capacity was ok and so we moved forward.Trying to make things easier to understand, I am adding the following screenshot;  As seen above all 4 MAs share DDBs for box Primary and Cloud and I am running out of space. We are purchasing additional drives with a higher capacity to address the problem and here is where my questions come in and would appreciate some feedback. I would prefer to avoid running new Fulls as a result of this tasks.I wanted to see if the options below are the only ones available and which one carries less down time and risk;Adding new partition: this option

Hi All, i´m looking for the requirments how much free disc space is needed on mediaagent for block level restore from exchange databse. I found this: Changing the Amount of Free Space in the Cache for Block-Level Restores for Exchange Databases but dont understand. Does it mean i need the free disc space for the summery of all incr backups ?   

Dear Commvault community,We currently have a Self-Service portal supporting approximately 10,000 O365 users.Given that the Web Server for this portal currently resides on the CommServe, does it make sense to move it to a dedicated Media Agent, leaving only the core CommServe Web Server components on the CommServe itself?Please for your feedback.Best regards,Nikos

Hi, there is a chance to change the auxcopy automatic schedule from 30 min to 15 min in commandcenter or with a script? I’m in version 11.36 and with new installations commcel console GUI isn’t available. Additionalsetting Showschedulepolicy is not a valid way.Thanks

Hi All, maybe you can give me an hint. I have an new windows server 2022 mediaagent in a remote datacenter wich is needed for auxcopy. The connection between source and destination ma is over an vpn and there are no rules aktive.  When we have the windows domain firewall aktive we get a lot of chunk errors and we get errors during connecting the ddbs,  i run the the AddFWExclusions script in the base folder but i think there are a lot of processes and ports missing.  is there an instruction or another possibility to set all needed commvault processes and ports into the local windows firewall ? 

Hi All,I currently have a few DDB Stores to run DDB Verification for the first time (Full) and they are quite large, so running multiple jobs would be quite helpful. So considering the statements below from the docs, I started 1 DDB Verf and specified 30 streams. Attempted to initiate a second one and it automatically goes into a queued state. My first job is only using 30, should I be able to run a second one in this scenario? What am I missing? “You can perform only up to 50 concurrent data verification jobs. Any additional jobs that you perform get queued.”“ By default, deduplicated data verification job uses 20 streams during Validate Data phase and 50 streams during Verify Data phase.”Thanks

Hello,Could you please suggest storage best practice configuration for Deduplication storage pool that will use 256KB deduplication factor.How should be configured disk library:1) Strip size to use for underlying RAID Volume? 64KB 128KB or 256KB? (unable to find any recommendations from Commvault)2) NTFS block size? In general there is recommendation to use 64KB. Is it still the same for 256KB deduplication factor storage pools?3) By default, the system uses 4 GB as the chunk size and 64 KB as the block size to read/write data from disk libraries. Should i change this if I use 256KB deduplication factor? Should I increase read/write block size?Thank you in advance!

All,I have the Threat Indicator alert enabled on my Commserve.I have a VSA backup that runs nightly and every evening it picks the same folder and flags it in Monitoring → Threat indicators in the Command Centre and it emails this alert to all. The particular folder it mentions every night runs some DBA scripts that are scheduled. Is there anyway to remove this files ie E;\DBA_Scrits or this VM from the Threat Indicator alert ?There is nowhere to edit on the Alert in the CommServe, I found the workflow below and ran it but still got an alert the following morning. 

I’m attempting to restore folders and files from a Commvault file system backup to a test system. All the files and folders *appear* to restore properly but when the application (SQL Server in this case) attempts to access the files, I get:FCB::Open failed: Could not open file <path_and_file_name.ext> for file number 1.  OS error: 5(Access is denied.).Error: 5120, Severity: 16, State: 101.When I compare the restored folder to the source server, I see the folder permissions are different. Is there an option to have Commvault restore the proper folder permissions while it’s running the restore?Nay help appreciated.Ken

Hi, I would like to know if there is a specific procedure for the removal of the Failover package on linux Commservers?Can I just disable the livesync feature and remove the package or are they some additional steps?Thx in advance

Hello, we are trying to conduct an Non-RAC oracle duplicate operation and are having trouble getting the destination instance to a state other than unknown. The instance is started in NOMOUNT mode. For the connection string, we are using the sys account which has sysdba priveleges. For the Oracle User, we are using oracle. We have password file on the server, associated with the database and that the REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE is set to Exclusive. When doing a script preview, this error is listed:Failed with Oracle DB/RMAN error [ORA-12528: TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connectionsRMAN-03002: failure of allocate command at 06/02/2025 11:25:32RMAN-06171: not connected to target databaseI am not the Oracle DBA, so what could I ask them to check for the connection issue?Does the oracle user need something specific? How is the script connecting as sysdba without explicitly declaring in the connection string options?

Hello Community,I have 2 different hyperscale enviroments, and i would like to decomiss the old one and shutdown the servers. I have a storage pool and a storage policy with some large time retained jobs. And almost 95% of the library is freeI want to copy or migrate this data to the other hyperscale with his own storage pool and policiesI’m searchin through documentation and aux policies but i’m not sure is what i need if there would be some posts referring this topic, please could you forward me? Thx

Redhat openshift virtualization are supported by Commvault ?I’ve know that RHEV are supported. Recently RHEV has been sun set and replaced by OpenShift Virtualization. Does CV fully supported backup VM that run on openshift virtualization ? 

Hi, Cannot delete media agent from Commvault. Server no longer exists and CV fails to delete it from itself. Hi Team, We have an issue with one of our Aux Copies, which for reasons unknown has poor rates of throughput compared to near identical Aux Copies.I would like to see if anyone has an understanding of the values in the CvPerfMgr logfile so we can further troubleshoot.We are writing to a target Cloud copy. Other SP’s write there with very good rates of throughput (10 GB/Hr).My “problem” SP Copy is hovering around 300 GB\HR,  AND we have a large backlog of copy data.I have checked the basics such as Q&I times, local server and DDB performance and I can’t see anything obvious. Q&I times on the Primary are ok (roughly 1800).Q&I times on the Secondary are around 630. CPU utilisation on both servers (we are using partitioned dedupe for both primary and secondary) is excellent (maybe 30 or 40% whilst Aux Copies and backups are running).So, i then took a look at the CvPerfMgr logfile, but I could do with some further information.I can see a reference t reader speed possibly being 1

Team,As we know , if we have to perform push installation of commvault agent . SSH from Commserver to Client should work . In my Env SSH works for some clients while not for others.Do we have any pre-check mechanism in Commvault where we can validate the client is ready for push-installation or not . This could be useful for automation checks. Thanks,Mohit
