Thinking of renaming some policies and subclients to make them more readable.Does this break anything? Jobs? Retention? Schedules?Pretty sure Commvault tracks these by IDs, so it shouldn’t matter… right? But wanna make sure there’s no funky behavior hiding.Also , what happens if you’ve got one subclient doing backups and another doing replication for the same VM? Could this mess up snapshots or indexes?Like, is it gonna throw errors because two subclients are both taking snapshots of the same VM? Or maybe cause some weird restore behavior?Appreciate your help overall!   

We are starting to use the VMware backup validation feature (it’s great!) and we are getting quite a few “Fail to boot VM” results in our weekly test. Using the “Validate backup” per VM the mounted backup looks promising but Commvault shuts it off.Can the wait out time be extended? 

Hi Team,I have scenario where, the user mailbox get deleted and created back. since the previous mailbox backup still exist, i have new backup for the same user. when the user view the backup emails in console, it shows double as below. is there any way to fix this or merge the deleted & active backup mailboxes into one?

Thinking of cleaning up some storage policies — maybe moving a few subclients from one policy to another to keep things tidy.Qs: Any risk of data loss or backup issues when moving subclients between policies? Does this kind of change trigger a full backup, or will it continue incremental as usual? (Kinda hoping I don’t get hit with a surprise full backup… 😅 Appreciate your feedback everyone!

Hello All,I am backing up a VM daily Incremental and Weekly Shyntetic Full backup from different subclients as the following (GAR-PND-PRD_VM_Set_1,GAR-PND-PRD_VM_Set_2)I have Full backup from both of subclient taken on Monday.  and I have Incremental backup taken on Tuesday from subclient GAR-PND-PRD_VM_Set_1 . I have another incremental backup taken on Wednesday from GAR-PND-PRD_VM_Set_2. I am using CBT backup both of subcleint.If I restore VM from the Incremental backup from the GAR-PND-PRD_VM_Set_2 subclient, Will I Cover all data from Wednesday Tuesday and Monday ? Or I will just have data from Wednesday and Monday?

In our commcell we had a RHEL client with the name FakeName. Hi Community,Microsoft blocking the assignment of the ApplicationImpersonation role in Exchange Online to accounts starting in September 2024, and that in February 2025, will completely remove this role and its feature set from Exchange Online.Retirement of RBAC Application Impersonation in Exchange Online | Microsoft Community Hub For the Exchange Online - Public Folder Backup is a Impersonation role required. So far I have not found anything in the CommVault documentation on how to back up the Public Folders in Exchange Online in the future.Does anyone have any further information?Thanks and best regards,Andreas

Hi Community,i have uninstalled all Commvault Software as we moved to VSA backup only. In the commcell Console ist still shown with the Product Version. How can i get the Product Version away as my Client Computer Group “needs update” is still showing this Clients with my filter.    thanks

Week back I have added additional space to the indexcache disk like 1TB due to space issues. Today when I check the index it is 411GB in size, so its increasing significantly.Why would it grow this much? Just normal incremental backups was run over night? No additional clients added or any changes made to clients being backed up by the MA.

Hello Team,We are doing hardware tech refresh of the Commvault backup environment.Initially the Commvault version is 11.20 and upgraded to 11.32.We have installed new media agent with back end hardware dedup appliance. Created new storage policies and then the file system backup jobs changed from old to new policy and started the backup. After some time the index cache is getting full. Is it because of Index version V1 or any thing on back end is doing the process?

Hallo Team, i wanted to create a Role within the CommCell Console for VMware Admins.I wanted them to be able to do basic tasks against VMs / VCenter liketrigger a backup trigger a restore ….But unfotunaltey when i add the Client “VM” i can not distingush between the “Virtual Server” and other installed agents within the Client. Is there a way to give rights against the Virtual Server Agent only and not the others. ( Also the other way around i want to give a user eg SQL Server agent rights but not Virtual Server rights. )Thanks a lot

Hello All,we are using VM Snap copy via using Intellisnap.  we will take VM admin Job (snap backup ) with out backup copy. we do not want to do backup copy but we want to delete automaticly snapshots from VMware. I ran data aging but COmmvault did not delete snapshot from the VMware. How to do it ?THnks 

A customer I am working with is trying to upgrade their commvault environment to the latest release.Manage > System > Maintenance > Download or copy software > Download option > Upgrade to Latest Release: 11.36.35 > check the boxes for both windows and unix packages.This starts a download jobs which kicks off and takes about 15 minutes where is says 400+ files are downloaded and job says success. However, when they look at the contents of the software cache after the download job, it still only shows 11.34.44. If they try to update any of the servers it tells them that the servers are already up to date which is not true. All devices are currently running 11.34.44 but shows the latest release for download is 11.36.35. They have tried this download several times and can see the network traffic is downloading but the software cache never shows the newer versions.They committed the cache successfully, and have restarted Commvault Services in the CommServe, but keep runni

I have a Sharepoint Online client, that when browsing for a restore recently I saw that there was a lot of data simply not in the backups that is currently in Sharepoint.I am wondering if this is because previously the Plan was set to Received/Creation Time (this is no longer an option for Plans) of 30 days, rather than Deleted Time of 30 days. It was changed to Deleted Time in Feb. This is a client that was set up back in 2021, so a lot has changed in the CommandCenter. In the Console, if you go to Policies > Configuration Policies > Exchange Policies and open a Retention Policy you can still see the Retention Mode of Deletion Time or Received Time. Prior to the Plan Change, if an item was created, backed up, and then would be aged 30 days later. My theory is that these items that ‘aged’, did not get backed up when the plan was changed to Deletion Time.When changing a plan for M365 (Sharepoint Online in my case), does it apply retroactively to items (i.e. items that were backed

I recently discovered that our Oracle incremental backup schedule is not working as initially expected by my predecessor.It is assigned to a client group with all our Oracle servers and starts an incremental backup on the default subclient and a log backup on the Archlog subclient.The goal with this schedule was to only backup Archlogs. I already studied the documentation and read through a few post here but it seems like there is no way to prevent this behaviour when the schedule is assigned to a client group.Is there no other way to schedule an Archlog backup exclusively other than assigning the subclient itself to the schedule?Maybe some option to restrict the schedule to just Archlog subclients? Thanks in advance.

Hello, Please I nedd your help, I’ve tried to resolve issues regarding the cappacity so i found out that I’ve exceeded the capacity and the VOI ( 80 allowed VMs ==> used 81) so I deleted 5 VMs, My question now is it possible to use data agging to liberate capacity because I need to do it now so I can resume the ongoing backups that are suspended now
