We are currently using 3-way NDMP backup for Isilon NAS. However, the first full backup takes forever to complete and the NAS data is like hundreds of TB. Dell then suggest us to use 2-way NDMP backup solution with B100 backup accelerator and a new dedicated tape library added to improve the backup performance. Since the new dedicated tape library will be directly attached to B100 (no need to connect to a physical Media Agent server any more), we are now thinking to use a VM as the dedicated Media Agent.We don’t have any experience on how to configure 2-way NDMP backups with a Media Agent virtual server on Commvault, and how to configure the control path and data path. It will be really appreciated if anyone can provide any details on configuration steps. Thanks in advance. Will  

Good day Vaulters This question is around hardware and Commvault level encryption. If I have encryption enabled on the Maglib (VAST storage with it’s encryption enable), what happens if encryption is enabled on Commvault? Does it try to encrypt the data on the Maglib that has the Hardware vendors encryption already in place? What is the effect on backup AND recovery performance in doing this?Would it be best to leave Encryption on Commvault off in this case? We do need to also have Encryption enabled ‘in transit’. I know that’s done with Network routes. Would there be a performance impact on operations in using this option too? What will both layer of Encryption do to DDB sizing? I’d imagine it could cause bloat? Thanks,Mauro

Hello All,I am using restore validate workflow for restore tests. It worsk fine on windows clients. one Validate Restore job working then Restore validate job showing as restoring data. But When I triy it on Linux/aix cl,ients , It does not show validate restore job as like restoring.Only validate restore job working but It does not show the client as restoring. does not it support for aix/linux? Hi Community,I am testing One touch Windows BMR recovery. My physical sever has 8 NICs and link to commserve is connected on the 3rd NIC card.When i boot 1-touch WinPE ISO, it shows only 2 first NICs. I tried also adding network drivers on ISO using this method but still same issue.https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/adding_windows_drivers_for_nic_and_mass_storage_devices.htmlCan the 1-touch WinPE show all the NICs or only 2 NICs?Or i am not correctly adding drivers to the ISO?Can anyone help me on this please.Thank you.Best Regards 

in the Commvault Security Assessment report, the item “Requires user authentication for installing agents” says:Authentication is not requiredCommvault recommends you enable this settingWhere do i do this? The “How to Change this setting” link goes to http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=8077.htm which seems to just tell you how to authenticate while installing a client, not how to enforce the setting on the Commcell?I have the 11.28/2022E version.

Hello,I created a selective copy that shoud copy yearly Fulls to tape. it is scheduled to be executed on January 2025 to copy the last fulls of December 2024 But something is not clear for me. Based on the configuration and what I understand,all the last full backups that will be performed on December 2024 should be copied to tape at launch via the schedule policy. (expected on January 2025) Here is the detailed configuration Storage Policy Copies : Storage Policy Copy Properties [General]  Storage Policy Copy Properties of [Selective Copy] Schedule policy   Why on this copy, I see that is on the Media Not CopiedWhen I click on Media Not copied, I see that some media needs to be copied from the Primary even if we are not at the end of the year 2024 and the schedule doesn’t happen yet (schedule is planned for January 2025 to copy last full of December 2024) Media Not copied list Detail of V_30450 Detail of V_30450I see that some jobs are waiting for copy but that jobs have been run on 2

Hi, Our MySQL DB admin has removed some transactions logs from DB side. No we recieve following error in incremental backup. our full backup is a snap backup. So after the full, incremental are also failing with the same error. what we can do to fix this without purging logs from D side ? Really appreciate the help at this point.

Hi Team, The Library of Storage Policy Copy, which I marked in the red frame in the screenshot below, will be closed. For this reason, we need to move the data to the "Private Cloud Library" that we have just created."Private Cloud Library" is not listed as Storage Pool when creating new Storage Policy Copy. There are already 2 Storage Policy Copy attached from "Private Cloud Library".The question is: How can I add a Storage Policy Copy with different retention addressing the same Library? Is there a limitation?If I can't get past this, is there any suggestion on how I can move the data?

Hello,Our customer is currently backing up a large CIFS share using another backup solution once a month. The solution has been configured to do the incremental forever with 7 years retention. The backup lands on diskpool and migrate to tape as last resting location. After the backup completion tapes send to vault. How can we mimic same method with Commvault with a tape library.  There is no disk to tape migration neither incremental forever without doing any synthetics full with Commvault.I thought best approach might be listed what do you think?Define a NAS client  with CIFS credentialsRun a manual full backup to Tape library using maximum amount of drives with multiple streaming.Define a monthly schedule as to directly tape library as target Set basic retention 2555 days 1 cycle.Maybe once a year run a synthetic full just for precaution (!)This still lack of disk to tape migration but at least similar to current solution.

Hello, I am trying to NAS backup with NDMP agent but when i am running incr backup its taking to long or de backup faile. The volume have more then 14M small files.  What is best practice to backup it? Intellisnap maybe? 

Hello all!We are in the middle of Proof of concept Postgre backup implementation process.No one of our backup team does have any experience regarding this backup type. So far we do have implemented backup that I am able to see those two Backups sets:I am trying to understand the difference between those two subclients. They were configured automatically. I have found this in documentation:So in case that we would like to do Full Backup of All DBs i should use Dump Based Backup?But when creating backup for this subclient (Dump Based Backup)backup size is about 250mb… DB team checked server configuration and it said that DB is more then 3GB: Why there is such a difference in sizes? It was very first backup so i can not blame deduplication or so…  While trying to use other sublient FSBasedBackupSet I am having a error with log directory.This DB is not set to use any archive mode, so its in some kind of “simple recovery mode” and its not generating logs file.  So my questions are: Why ther

Hey Guys! (CV240229-614 Incident already open, but no helpfull results so far)We need to restore mailboxes from 2015. We made in the past a HW SNAP, and copied the SNAP to Tape, where we have the Data now.When i start the Browse, open the Information store, all DBs have the Size 0kb, but that should be normal in this case.After i selected a DB file and started the recover database job, it goes instantly fail without doing anything. Hi Folks,I am trying to install Commvault 11.34 Trial on Windows 2019 Server. However, in the final stage of the installation process, Commvault is asking for the SQL Server sa user password. After changing the sa password several times using SQL server management studio, checking if the user logging is enabled, etc.. it’s still returning as invalid password. NOTE: The SQL server was installed by Commvault 11.34 installation package.How can I fix this issue?Thanks  

Is there a way to enable the Root User on a Hyperscale 1.5 node from command line? It was disabled when we deleted the storage pool and I was unaware we cannot run the umount command as the cvbackupadmin user.  

 Hello, please, I need your help. I'm trying to add an ENDPOINT with Linux Mint 21.1 operating system locally, and when I try to install it, I get the following error. In the Commvault documentation, Linux Mint 21.1 is not listed as a supported operating system. However, I wanted to know if someone managed to install it or how I could proceed since the client only uses that operating system.
