Hello community Oracle RAC :  (v19) CV: V11.28RAC has been set up with a configuration involving 2 nodes. The installation and configuration of the RAC setup in Commvault were completed yesterday. issue:  Can’t raise the "Log Threshold streams" value beyond 1. Within the Commvault log's "Backup" tab, 'number of archive Log backup stream: 3'  set for each of the nodes.I'm attempting to modify the "Log Threshold streams" value, aiming to raise it from 1 to 3. but, whenever I navigate away from the field or confirm the change by clicking "OK," the change is not retained. Instead, the value reverts back to the original setting of 1.I've reviewed the settings of other existing Oracle RAC configurations involving two nodes. Hi Team. Have a netapp a700 that has vmware datastores and cifs/nfs shares. I need to set up intellisnap and a storage policy snap primary (and a vault/replica copy of it) to do this. I have a specific storage policy for vmware and a specific storage policy for files. I’m currently working with the vmware policy first.  I’ve created the snap primary and the vault copy (with the snap primary as the source) the source and destination svm’s have been added and are confirmed correct. lifs and peering relationships set up. In a vsa subclient, I’ve enabled intellisnap and have selected some test volumes in ‘content’. The proper relationships have been configured for these between the source (a700) and destination storage (a netapp 8700) for the vault/replica. When I run a backup copy from the storage policy and also from the intellisnap enabled subclient I get the error “job will not be started. snap backup copy job does not need to run.”.  Can you kindly suggest what might be misconfigur

Some great answers on my previous posts so trying my luck with this one! If the entire Commvault environment were to be destroyed,  CommServe, Media Agents, VSA’s deleted for example but DR backups of the CommServe Databases held on a functioning file server. Can Commserve be reconstructed, and the Databases reimported (thinking definite yes for this!) Same machine name and IP? The tricky one now! Can a Linux Media Agent be manually rebuilt (yes) BUT can it access and use backups that were written to a NFS share by the previous Media Agent? Obviously, all Index Cache and DDB database that was on this machine will have been obliterated OR may actually be also backed up on the same NFS share by the scheduled DDB, index server backups that will have run.  Lastly the actual CommServe, Media Agents and VSA components will also have been backed up by Commvault in VM based backups and also held on NFS storage. Hi guys,I’m trying to deploy FSO following the official online documentation of Commvault but no luck.From guided setup during the wizard, I’m able to configure successfully the index server, but when I try to set up the inventory I’m getting following error:{"errorMessage":"Failed to create inventory [qwerty]","errorCode":1013} I also tried to configure the inventory from Activate/Settings/Inventory manager and then Add inventory button, but it fail to create the inventory: ! Failed to configure inventory My Commvault environment is on 2023 platform release Version 11.30.36.Any idea on what could be leading to this problem? JSousa

Hi folks,Although all vendors now have servers using 4th generation Intel processors, our reference architectures (for 24 disk solutions) still request 2nd generation processors.This is causing a problem, vendors cannot provide the product for these old servers and processors we configure (such as HPE Apollo 4200 with Intel 4216 CPU and/or Dell 740XD2 with Intel 4216 CPU).Will these reference architectures be renewed in the upcoming period? Is there such a study? Are there any roadmaps on this?Even if there is a study carried out on this subject, it will be very useful information for us.Kindest Regards.

Hello, we have a NetApp Client that we would like to backup using a File System Agent and NetApp SnapDiff.Our environment is not configured for V2/V3 but V1 works as expected when creating new subclients. However when trying to backup an older subclient (same Client/Backupset), apparantly Commvault is not using SnapDiff for the Scan-Phase. Extract from the logs:Subclient property [Disable SnapDiff Scan] set. NetApp SnapDiff cannot be used. Using classic recursive scan. I don’t see any way to disable that property. Neither in the subclient settings nor in additional settings.Further I don’t even know how this property got set in the first place - SnapDiff V1 used to work on that subclient before. Maybe you have any idea how to set/unset that property? Regarding our environment:Commvault Version 11.28.72NetApp ONTAP Version 9.12.1P4

Manager is asking if commvault support migration of old tsm data to commvault. I have read this documentation https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/103543_migrating_tsm_data_to_objectstore.html Has anyone any experience doing this? I am not quite sure this is the best way forward..

Hello,Does anybody knows how to get rid of the following warnings we got during CIFS/NFS servers backup:" Unable to start SnapDiff V3 session. Please check if RPC is enabled and if there is a data network interface configured for NFS on vserver [xxxxxxxxx]. " -→ Some SVMs have NFS enabled on LIFs, then I enabled RPC on those SVMs and after that warnings disappeared.-→ On the contrary, some SVMs have only LIFs with CIFS enabled, then these messages are still there days after days, even if RPC is enabled.I will not be obliged to add NFS as a data protocol to solve this “issue “ ? It does not makes sense...We are running ONTAP 9.9.1P11 and Commvault 11.28.32 (2022E).Thank you in advance.

Hi Guys, I am experiencing the same issue as :  whereby i am unable to change my storage policy retention settings from a remote comcell console. However my commserve is linux, so i have been trying to access the comcell console directly on the linux machine as provided in the solution above. However when i run the command console, nothing happens. I am not sure if there are any specific settings i need to configure to allow console access from linux. Does anyone know?

Hi Team,I have Storage policy and the primary library is IBM tape library. Due to space constraints few servers are assigned directly to the tapes. So, the concern is by default created the big data apps index server for the storage policy is going to the same storage policy. Is it right way to keep the index server's backup on tape.If incase, I have to require browsing 30 days old data, do required tapes and is there any copy saved on media server for index cache?PFB snapshot for reference.   

Hello Community, We’re going to migrate file servers to different hardware with new hostname, while keeping the same drive letter, data/content.Subsequently, once these new servers install/config into the Commvault, they will be linked to the identical storage policy that the old servers were associated with. This storage policy with ddb enabledFrom my understand, Commvault's deduplication process use a SHA-512 algorithm, which generates a unique identifier for each data block. This identifier is then matched against identifiers of previously encountered data blocks. Questions:I'm wondering whether, during the initial full backup of the new file servers, the data will undergo a process of re-baselining, or if only distinct data blocks will be selected for backup. Hello, anyone knows why file agent push install on Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS fails everytime? I have used root credentials on 2 different servers running the same OS version : Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS.The job get’s stuck either at 0% or 90%. I have checked the destination and seems to do a partial install.The installed components looks like this:I have Commvault 11.0 SP24. Is Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS  supported?

We are getting the error below. It does not give the error all the time. Usually on Saturday afternoons, the jobs start running all weekend with no issues. On Monday’s, it will start failing in the afternoon and fail all week until the weekend. Of course, the DBA says that they are not doing anything. Nothing has changed on the CV side. This server has been fine up until the last month as they have started prepping the DB’s for another server. Heyho, I have a question. We are going to create a custom report, with all the Commvault reports we need. In our "old" reports we have a section with Admin Jobs History. I can't find such a report in the Command Center. Is there a report that shows me these jobs ?

There is a requirement in our AWS environment to perform Backups of the Elasticsearch nodes.  From what I have read, CV does not actually support that and the recommendations are to use the Elasticsearch imbedded snapshots and from there we CV could backup up from the S3 buckets.“Elasticsearch has consistency requirements that span the whole cluster. You must use the built-in snapshot functionality for cluster backups.”Is this still true?  Are there other ways to perform backups using CommVault? ThanksChuck 

Hello Community, after migrate to V2 VSA for VMware with v2 migration workflow, I observed that certain VM clients are linked with the VSA agent, while other clients do not exhibit this association. though all of clients are part of the VSA backup . In the "Client Properties" section, specifically within the "Virtual Machine Properties" tab, the "Virtualization Client Name" directs to the V2 VSA pseudo client  below screenshot has vm and agent level backup but  VSA agent is not linked to it, the "Virtualization Client Name" refers to the V1 VSA pseudo client. It seems that the V2 VSA agent is exclusively visible in new

Constantly getting the error below on two HP UX boxes. CvFwd.Log582 0001 08/09 07:54:34 ######## ######## ERROR: cvfwd_get_refresh_socket(): Failed to bind refresh socket: Can't assign requested address  Job Error:Error Code: [19:1304]Description: Failed to connect to Communications Service to register the process. They were originally both older Clients 11 SP 6. Went to upgrade to SP30 and now jobs stopped running. Check readiness runs fine but get error above and Filesystem and Oracle jobs will not run. I have a One Way from Client to Commserve setup. 

Hi Team,Just want check the configuration of Mailbox Backup. We have two media agent servers and the exchange version is 2016. Please advise the configuration of Mailbox backup jobs.Is it Outlook on those media agent servers and will use access nodes. And any disk limitation for Indexing (each media agent). - approx. 300 Mailboxes. Any license is needed for this backup from Commcell level (no archiving). Where will create the sub clients for mailbox jobs (either Exchange or media agents).

I have a question about the commvault commserve service account. Which group is required to create and use an account that is used by default as an account that is part of the administrators group, but is not part of the administrators group, but is used for the commvault service? Or do I need a local system account that belongs to the administrators group? -windows group list-
