Hello Commvault Community, We have this situation:There are MS SQL servers that have transaction logs backup during the day. Full backups are made only outside working hours. Sometimes, however, it happens that during the day, for some reason (the logs show that communication with the media agent was interrupted), a broken chain is made and the transaction logs backup is converted to full.Unfortunately, we can't do full house during the day, because it overloads the source servers. What we tried to do:1. Uncheck "convert" in the subclient properties - it did nothing, the backup was still converting.2. Do a "full data management" subclient blackout window for these servers within business hours. The workaround for blackout windows should work in theory, but if the conversion takes place, the job is still process in the JobController as "transcational log" and not full (although in reality it is already full). This is probably why the blackout window does not cover this job.The question

Hi folks, I want to ask, what is your SQL restore throughputs for large DBs.We have a 8.4TB database that takes around 18hrs to restore with average throughput around 478GB/hr.Wondering if this can be improved without introducing IntelliSnap.Network is not a bottleneck. SQL server is hosted on all flash array and the backup target is HSX. Cheers,Marcin

Hi,I’m testing backup of M365. I’ve setup Commvault instance 11.40.34 on Windows.I’ve added Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business - no problem.But when I’m trying to add Sharepoint Online app (throught Protect → Office 365 → Sharepoint Online - Configure now) then app is added, but it’s not Sharepoint but Exchange.I’ve setup separate applications for all apps with proper permissions according to the documentation.I just did everything similar to adding Exchange or OneDrive, tried few times with no luck. Any ideas?

Hi All, short question :) We have nutanix ahv vms with quest os windows 11 and tmp active. We are running cv 11.40.10 when we try to run vsa snaphsot we are getting the error vm not found. Do you know if this constellation is supported ?

If Install the 2 Independent commcell is it possible later to set-up this as a live sync?

Hi all. How would the procedure be, to do a Linux OS refresh from Rocky Linux to RHEL? The servers have local OS, ddb and index disks, and the MA’s have block storage mounted disks for the library.The hardware need to be reused, so I just want to reinstall OS, but keep DDB, index, library data, server name and IP, so that the server can continue operations after the Linux OS refresh.. Any suggestions on how to do this and any recommendations appreciated. Regards-Anders  

Hi,I was wondering how people are scheduling backups. (for example file system backups)Do you only run incrementals and Synthetic fulls? Or do you sometimes run a “real” full?For example, 1 “real” full a month, a daily incremental and a weekly synthetic full.I’ve always heard never to “only” use incrementals and synthetic fulls, and to slip in a “real” full backup once in a while. What would be the reasoning behind it?Looking forward to hear your feedback.

Hi Vaulters, In order to implement a Vault site which will contain one MediaAgent in it, we wanted to restrict the communication of this MediaAgent to only the CS + MAs in Prod site and make connection only be established through the Vault site. To make things even securised, we wanted to use a dedicated port for the Vault MA unstead of the defaults 8400/8403. Seems this can be achived through One-Way network topology while setting : Vault MA → Prod CS/MAs.But not sure about the customized port to be used, as from OS/Network perspective only the custom port will be allowed between the Vault MA and Prod CS/MAs. Should the custom port be set in the below screenshot during topology creation or set as an additional setting in the Vault MA (nCVDPORT) or both ? How to let CV know that the communication will only be established by the Vault MA and use a defined port ?  This is a bit confusing.Thanks in advance. 

Hi,I am encountering an issue with VSA backups on a Nutanix AHV cluster.The Scenario: I ran a manual Full Backup for a specific VM. The job status is "Completed". Immediately after the job finished, I tried to browse and restore a vDisk (scsi-1). The file appears in the index, but when clicking restore, I get the error: "Cannot Restore since there is no data available" The Anomaly: Restoring the same VM from the scheduled nightly backup works perfectly. The issue seems specific to this fresh manual job.Environment: Commvault VSA for Nutanix AHV. Disks are standard vDisks (not Volume Groups / iSCSI Guest). Proxy has full access to the container (verified by the successful nightly restore). Question: Is there a known Indexing Commit latency specifically for AHV that prevents immediate restores right after job completion? Or is this likely a CRT/Snapshot lookup failure on the Nutanix CVM side during the manual run?Thanks.

Hi All, i´m looking for an prcess list for the rocky linux vsa template. We are using trendmicro as av vendor and we cant exclude an path for the processes so we need to exclude the processes manually. I did not find any list and ariel also not :)  Do you have an idear ?

Hello Commvault Community,  Does Commvault support backup of Proxmox VMs with a GPU card connected as PCI pass-through? There's no information in the Commvault documentation about whether it supports it or not, but the snapshot itself runs fine on the Proxmox side. When we try backup through the Commvault system, there's a problem with taking the snapshot, and the log shows the following information: ===--> FAILED                      Error creating virtual machine snapshot.  VM 103 qmp command 'savevm-start' failed - VM snapshot already started === When backup runs through Commvault, there aren’t manually taken snapshots on the virtual machine.Thanks in advance!Kind Regards,Kamil

Hello All,After adding a data file to the MSSQL database, it's normal for log backup to convert to full backup. However, after converting log backup to full backup, the server experiences excessive CPU consumption, reaching 100%. Is this normal behavior, what is the reason, and how can we solve it?Meanwhile, we don't observe too much CPU increase when running a normal full backup.

Disaster Recovery Query – IDM Application Backup Tapes (December & November 2025)The IDM application is hosted in DC1 (Onsite). Monthly full backups are taken every last Sunday of the month. These backups are sent to DC2 (DR Site). In December 2025, the IDM application required 5 tapes for the full backup. Out of these, 3 tapes became full and were already moved to DC2. The remaining 2 tapes were not yet full and stayed onsite in DC1. A disaster has now wiped out all onsite data, including incrementals, disk backups, and the 2 onsite tapes. We need to know in how many possible ways the application can be recovered using the offsite tapes. If recovery from December 2025 is not possible due to missing tapes, we need confirmation whether all November 2025 backup tapes for IDM are available offsite. If November’s set is complete, recovery should proceed from that month instead.

Hello I have the following:               RHEL client: RHEL 9Windows Commserve: Windows Server 2019No firewall exist between the two machinesWhen I check the box that says Restore Via CV Tools to install the Linux agent onto the client, I get this error:“Description: Failed to install File System Core Package, could not determine processor/OS type of client”I do have a case open with support but wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and found a solution. I have not found a solution on the forum. 

Just noticed following coming change:On April 2 2026, Microsoft will fully retire Azure ACS for all tenants. Because of this change, you must reconfigure SharePoint Online to use certificate-based authentication. We recommend upgrading to Commvault Cloud 11.40 or a more recent release. All Commvault Cloud customers must reconfigure their SharePoint Online authentication method by April 2, 2026 or SharePoint Online backups will begin to break.

I have the following issue:-OS was upgraded from debian 9 to debian 12​​​​​​​-backup services not starting anymore since then-uninstalled and reinstalled locally interactive 32.49, but the backup agent is being stuck forever on Starting Services phase -downloaded new interactive fresh pkg 32.59, but the same issue-i cannot find too much in the logs-tried to start services manually, but only cvfwd started, while the other services not (no error displayed):/opt/commvault/Base/svc_ctrl -focus Instance001 -start cvd/opt/commvault/Base/svc_ctrl -focus Instance001 -start cvlaunchd/opt/commvault/Base/svc_ctrl -focus Instance001 -start ClMgrS/opt/commvault/Base/svc_ctrl -focus Instance001 -start cvfwd​​​​​​​-verified before if there is anything else listening on CVD and CVFWD (CVD is using default 8400 port, CVFWD 8600) + checked and manually deleted leftover folders if any: Commvault Installation folder; Log folder; Registry folder + checked for orphaned commvault processes Any idea what can

Hi All. I have build a new setup with MediaAgents and a CommServe installed with RedHat Linux. Is it possible to disable the root account like you are in a HyperScaleX setup where you need to enable the root access from within the CommandCenter. I really like this feature, so I would like to get et on my normal MediaAgents as well. I see that is possible via the CommServe bare metal setup and you can download a workflow described in the below link:https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/software/enabling_or_disabling_root_access_for_commserve_bare_metal.html Install and deploy the HyperScale OS Node Root Access workflow from the Commvault Store. But I’m unsure if it will work on my MediaAgents and my CommServe. Regards-Anders  

Hi guys, is there a possibility to get the subclientId of a client when searching for a specific content.E.g.:I have 3 subclients, 1 for drive c, 1 for drive d and 1 for drive e.Now I want to get the SubclientId for the path “c:\example”.Is there any possibility to get this? Maybe per RestAPI? BRJan
